Preparation
I went back to the Party Room and told my parents about the job. They looked surprised, but I wasn't sure if it was because I got a job without them knowing or because I got a job in general.
Anyway, Mom agreed to let me use her car for the nightly trips, seeing as how mine would never make it all the way over here. After that, we all just stayed at the pizzeria until the party ended.
When it finally did end, we went home and I began to start drinking an insane amount of coffee; I needed to stay up all night if I was going to do this job right.
Soon, I arrived at the pizzeria at 11:55 pm; I didn't want to be late on my first night. I saw a light coming from the main room up front. It looked like someone was inside.
I walked up to the doors and went inside the building. I found the manager in the center of the room, sitting at a table. He looked up when he saw me.
"Good evening, Mr. Fitzgerald," he told me. "Ready for your first night?"
"As ready as I'll ever be, I suppose," I replied. He smiled.
"Let's head to your office then, shall we?" He told me.
He then walked down the hallway, and I followed him.
"So you said you're taking this job to get a new car, eh?" He asked as we walked.
"Yes, sir," I replied.
"Well, I'm afraid that may take some time as of now. We spent so much money on the new building and new animatronics that we hardly had enough money leftover to pay the employees as much as they deserve."
"Oh, I guess that makes sense."
"But don't worry. Once we start making a profit, your paycheck should hopefully increase."
"That's good to hear!"
I hope that didn't sound as rude as I thought it might have.
We then finally reached the office. It was the same one the other guard was in. I could see an open air vent on either side of the room. There were green buttons labeled 'LIGHT' above each one.
The desk in the room had empty wrappers and an electric fan that was currently running. It looked like there was a screen on the desk, as well.
I sat at the seat behind the desk and saw posters all along the wall advertising the restaurant.
All in all, it was a very cozy setup.
"Before I forget," he told me, "you're going to need this."
He then handed me a folded dark blue polo shirt with the same colored hat on top of it. It had the letters 'FFP' written in red on it. It was the same outfit as the other security guard. There was also a flashlight there, as well.
"And there's something else next to the desk there," he continued.
I looked down and I saw what looked like an animatronic head lying next to the desk. It looked completely hollow, as if it could be worn as a mask.
"What's this for?" I asked.
"Don't worry," he replied. "When your shift starts, you'll get a call from the assistant manager. He'll explain that and everything else you'll need to know."
"Oh, OK then."
"Well, I'll be heading out now. Have a safe night, Mr. Fitzgerald!"
"Um, thanks."
Why do I get the feeling he's not telling me something?
He then left the office. He nearly disappeared immediately into the dark hallway. I somehow felt a bit more nervous now.
I then heard a chime above me. I looked and saw a digital clock in the top right corner of the room. A digital clock that read 12:00 am. My first shift had started. Hopefully nothing would happen. The last thing I need is someone breaking in.
