Brotherly Advice

"Hey, uh, Jacob?" I asked as I peeked my head in the living room. He turned away from the TV and looked at me.

"Yeah?" He asked.

"Can I talk to you about something?"

"Well, sure! Go ahead!"

I exhaled and sat next to him on the couch.

"Look, it's just...this job is getting to me," I explained.

"Jeremy, it's only been 2 nights!"

"I know, but...you'd never believe what that job is really like..."

"How hard can it be? Don't you just sit in a room alone and watch the building though security cameras every once and a while?"

"Well, I THOUGHT that's all it would be..."

"What do you mean? What else is there to do?"

"I have to...wind up a music box constantly."

"Why the hell do you need to do that?"

"To be honest, I'm not even 100% sure."

"Well, what's so hard about that?"

"Because I also need to...protect myself."

"From what?"

I deeply sighed.

"Promise me you won't laugh or call me crazy?"

"Of course!"

"...I have to protect myself from the animatronics."

He then just stared at me deeply. I don't even think he blinked for a while. He then finally put his hand on my shoulder and sighed.

"Look, man, I know jobs can get stressful, but-"

"You don't believe me, do you?"

He stared again and sighed.

"Well, why do you need to protect yourself from the animatronics?" He finally asked.

"Well, the assistant manager told me they might be glitchy and think I'm a metal endoskeleton or something and stuff me in a suit."

I could tell he was trying to hide a smile.

"I'm sorry," he said, "but do you know how crazy that in itself sounds??"

I groaned and sat up. This wasn't helping me at all.

"Jeremy, wait," my brother quickly said. "I'm sorry, OK?"

I turned around and looked back at him. He wasn't smiling now.

"Is there anyone at work who could help you?" he asked. "Another employee or something?"

I paused in thought. I only knew of one other employee that would know how to handle this job...

"I guess there is," I replied. "He used to work the night shift before me."

"Well, go talk to him about what to do."

"Well, I guess it's better than nothing..."

"Want me to tell Mom and Dad what's going on?"

"No! The last thing I need is them worried about me."

"Well, good luck then."

"Thanks..."

I then left the house and got into Mom's car. The place closed in 30 minutes; hopefully that would be enough time to get there and get advice.
