6. sharing dangos
Next thing Omoi knew, his mentor was facing the girl. B did the hand seals "Tiger, Snake, Rat, Snake, and Tiger" as quickly as his hands would let him and yelled: "Water Release: Wild Water Wave."
The jinchūriki's attack easily extinguished the remnants of the girl's jutsu.
Omoi sighed, his head shaking in disapproval. He ran towards B, just in time to block an attack from behind. It was the blonde. She then tried kicking him in the stomach. The woman had concentrated her chakra to her feet to maximize the damage, but luckily Omoi caught her leg, causing him to stumble a little. While he was busy fighting off the blonde, Killer B was having a stare-off with the white-haired.
"What you staring at big guy?" The girl shouted in a mocking tone, her eyes still trained on him.
"Fool! Ya, fool! What ya see is me, Killer B. But who might you be?"
Her mouth opened, giving the impression that she was about to answer, yet instead a surge of water left her mouth. The jutsu took B by surprise, since she hadn't formed any hand signs to activate the attack. He braced himself for the pain, taking a deep breath, and covering his face. But nothing came. The jinchūriki peeked from behind his hands, only to find the girl gone.
After checking for any injuries and finding none, he turned around to look for his friend. Luckily, B didn't have any trouble spotting Omoi. He was close by, fighting off a blonde. He seemed to have the upper-hand, so B let his eyes roam the area, in search for that gaki.
An annoyed groan escaped his lips, when all he could see far and wide were trees. Even the gyūki was having a hard time tracing her chakra. "That kid's got some impressive chakra control," eight-tails commented, clearly impressed.
Just as the shinobi was about to let out a snarky remark, they were hit by a shock wave, a roaring booming sound erupted shorty after. The explosion couldn't be far away, so Killer B took off. Omoi took the chance to land a fatal blow on his opponent, and started running after his mentor...towards the explosion.
When they arrived, a thick layer of smoke clouded the area, hindering their vision. As the smoke cleared, they slowly took in their surroundings. Omoi's mouth was agape, shocked, while B held a glint of curiosity in his gaze. The blast had swept the forest clear; the once green scenery was replaced by a flat, burnt surface. Standing in the middle of the clearing was none other than the white-haired, a devilish smirk dancing on her lips. However, she wasn't alone. Standing, a few metres away from her, the guy with the blue hair and his teammate, a fairly tall woman with orange locks.
"How are you still alive?!", the orange-haired exclaimed, furious that the explosion she had caused, was futile.
The girl merely shrugged, not in the mood to explain. She wanted to put an end to this battle fast, since she still had a long way to go until Konoha. Without any hand signs, she shouted: "Lightning Release: Lightning Tiger!"
A lightning-charged tiger launched itself onto the enemies. The ninjutsu came so unexpected that her opponents had no time to dodge, paralyzing them in an instant.
She twirled around, so that she was now facing the two shinobis from Kumogakure. "Now back to the two of you." She paused, thinking of what to say. "Why did they attack you?"
"Attack us? They were clearly after you!" Omoi said eyes wide open, his hands motioning the burnt forest clearing.
"Hold up! Their first attack was meant for you, I just happened to be in the wrong place at the wrong time." She scoffed, dusting non-existent dirt off of her newly bought clothes.
Killer B and Omoi eyed her suspiciously. "Why help us then?"
She was now standing a few feet away from the two, giving them a better view of her face. The girl had the greenest irises they'd ever seen. Omoi couldn't quite tell if they were dark, much like the thick forest surrounding them, or light, reminding him of the lime-coloured grass back home. Even B was so mesmerized by her eyes, for once he was left speechless.
"Good question, but I'll have to pass. I'm in a rush to reach Konoha, so if you don't mind..." She waved them goodbye, and was about to turn on her heel, when suddenly a large hand grabbed her shoulder, hindering her from leaving. "Oi!"
It was B. Both Omoi, and B looked at each other, eyebrows raised. "Not so fast, gaki. Ya mentioned Konoha? Why ya headin' there?"
The girl hesitated, wondering if she should tell them the truth, or lie. "I'm looking for a-, for a friend, yeah."
"Cool. Why don't you join-" Omoi was interrupted when an elbow came crashing into his ribs.
"Fool! ya, fool," B mumbled, while Omoi was lying on the ground with tears in his eyes, clutching his side, and coughing severely.
"Your friend got a name?"
"Uh- yeah. His name's Boruto. Spiky hair, cheeky smile...perhaps you've heard of him?" She answered, scratching the back of her head. At the same time, she managed to flash them a sweet smile. However, behind her composed demeanor, the green-eyed was nervous...she had taken a wild guess when mentioning her supposed friend's appearance! Now, she was just hoping that they would stop with the whole interrogation.
"Hmm," The tanned man thought loudly. All of a sudden, a light bulb in his head went off. "Yeah, B knows a Boruto. Bothersome blonde brat, reminds me of you."
She had no idea what the guy was blabbering about, but thought she would just play along by laughing, and adding: "Yeah, sounds about right."
By the time Omoi was able to pull himself together, B and the girl were conversing happily. With his mentor cracking jokes and the white-haired listening carefully. Omoi couldn't believe his eyes. One moment they were ready to rip her each other's heads off, and suddenly they were ready to share dango sticks. Omoi closed his eyes and slapped himself in the face; perhaps this was all a funky dream. But when he opened his eyes, nothing seemed to have changed.
In a flash, he was on his feet, stalking towards his partner.
"Wha-" For the second time that day the Kumo-nin couldn't finish his sentence.
"Took you long enough. Let's move before it gets dark," the girl decided, leaving no room for discussion. Unlike B and Omoi, she was equipped to depart; her rucksack was fixed on her back and her short hair was pulled back.
Much to Omoi's surprise, B stood up as well. "The gaki's right. Forget our brawl, let's head to the Village Hidden in Frost, at best before nightfall. Rest there and we'll be outta town first thing in the morning."
Omoi thought it would be best to follow without asking unnecessary questions. A nod would suffice. And just like that, the clearing was left empty, and their attackers knocked-out.
"By the way, I forgot to ask earlier. What's your name kid?" Omoi spoke up, as they were jumping from branch to branch.
"The name's Gosha." A wide smile crossed her, while her fingers formed a peace sign.
