1. green-eyed ghost
"Seems, I missed all the fun..." She sighed wistfully, as her steadfast gaze hastily surveyed the barren landscape. A pathetic smile appeared on her face. With one finger, she drew a circle in the air, outlining a portal that was closed hours ago by a Kekkei Genkai.
"Rinne-Sharingan," she muttered to herself.
Glancing around, a crimson-stained chakra rod, which had been broken into two halves, captured her attention. An eye spasm was enough for the specific object to come flying across the demolished field and into her palms. Such rich chakra, she thought, as the remains of the energy stuck in the rod began to evaporate and flow into her nostrils. The scent was very alluring, it didn't take long to pinpoint the source of this wild chakra.
She could feel it coming closer. A look of surprise passed across her face, briefly, and turned into a smirk.
A paled-out man lay critically wounded on the dirt. Despite his shallow breathing, her guard was up. Even in a state like this, never underestimate an Ōtsutsuki. His white coat wasn't of any use any more, ripped, burnt and topped with blood. He looked terrible. All his energy depleted, she couldn't sense old chakra, not a drop left for her to devour. His clan symbol smudged, the Rinne Rinnegan removed from his damaged hands, his lavender eyes engulfed in darkness. They no longer retained the powerful Byakugan.
"Poor Momoshiki, how does it feel getting beaten by a mere human?" She asked not expecting an answer.
Once again her eye jerked, promptly sending him flying into the blood-red sky. She sighed theatrically the second she realised the corpse was incapable of fighting back. What a pity.
She had always thought so highly of him. Glancing at him now, severely beaten and in vain, she could only roll her eyes. Not wanting to dissipate further energy, she let go of the guy, causing him to crash his backside on the rugged surface.
"You should've listened to Toneri-sensei. Now, I've got to clean up your mess and find the brats that did this. Hn, so troublesome, causes me headaches."
She started weaving hand signs however stopped when she felt an unusual disturbance. "...f-find Bboruto..." He managed to whimper, before coughing out black blood. Her left eyebrow lifted in confusion. She couldn't understand the man. Had she heard right? What in the world was a Boruto?
A strong sudden warmth wrapped the man's body like liquid, protecting him from whatever's to come. Certainly, she didn't expect something to happen this late in the game. Her feet were rooted to the spot. Her eyes couldn't look away.
"Such interesting chakra! Who did you extract it from?" She inquired, breaking the silence. Her words coated with interest, her eyebrows knitted in suspicion. "Well, it doesn't really matter, right? It's mine now."
She moistened her lips, ready to plunge in the malicious chakra, as her eyes blossomed into a fully matured Mangekyō Sharingan. She took advantage of his condition and sucked the red force sheltering the dying man into her eyes. It was this trait, which was feared among the God clans. The Mangekyō granted her the striking ability to steal and distribute all types of chakra, and fuse it into her own.
It took her way longer than she had expected to extract the force. The girl chose to ignore the unusual burning sensation on her skin and the fact that her fragile body needed time to digest chakra in such mass. Despite feeling tingles all over, signalling something wasn't right, her feet dragged her closer to the corpse. There was no guarantee that he'd stay dead, assuming that she'd abandon him. A seal was the only way to keep him locked up in a realm, trapped inside space and time, only she could reach.
"Yasuda Clan: Realm of Death!", she spoke, before biting into her finger and staining the man's forehead with two blood-written symbols — death and the sun. In a matter of seconds, an ominous cloud enveloped his rippled corpse, gently tugging it towards eternal dusk.
Just like that, he was gone. She breathed out in relief, happy that her job was done, yet oddly the portal and the odd chakra were still clouding her thoughts. The fact of being so close to an actual earthling must have irked her. She had heard many tales about humans always causing chaos. The Ōtsutsuki once tried setting things straight by sending their princess, Kaguya-sama, down to clean up the mess, but she screwed up. At least that's what they all thought because her mesmerizing face was never seen again.
Her mind was made up. For Toneri-sensei. He had done so much for her and now his life dangled in her palms. Once again, straining her eyes, the green dispersed, a royal purple now taking over, opening a portal big enough for her to step in and onto moist grass.
Creamy azure skies painted the atmosphere, clear water splashed into vast pools of aqua, followed by a brisk breeze mixed with an unfamiliar scent. The sun was shining. The warmth felt nice on her skin. It was quite the opposite of her home. She was so fixed in her thoughts that she forgot to mask her presence and close off the portal.
"Is this some sort of genjutsu?!" She cussed before quickly cutting the chakra flow to her eyes and jumping into a nearby bush. Shortly afterwards, she sensed a massive portal being opened just a few meters next to her hiding spot.
Albeit being an expert in maintaining her presence hidden, she found it quite hard to concentrate. Her immune system wasn't used to the surrounding plants. It all happened so quick, her nose suddenly felt itchy.
"Achoo!"
She tumbled out of the bush and muttered a few swearwords before launching a fireball jutsu into the closing portal. On cue, her opponent unsheathed several kunais and hurled them at her. It took her a moment to realise she needed to dodge. She couldn't help but wonder what exactly was being thrown in her direction. Apart from chakra rods, they didn't have weapons from where she originated. Weird.
With the guidance of her Sharingan, she easily avoided the daggers. She dashed to her challenger without having drawn a picture of his skills and punched him straight in the chin. Her opponent managed to block her attack and push her away, causing her to topple back.
"Who sent you?" He demanded, his onyx eyes flashed angrily.
On closer look, his features became more prominent. He somehow looked familiar.
Itachi? Didn't she seal him off recently? ...Unless he found another way to escape.
On second inspection, this man looked a slight bit more emo with raven spiky hair covering half of his face and an all-black outfit hiding his slim build. His aura was overwhelmingly dark, too dark to be Itachi. This definitely wasn't him.
If she remembered correctly, the Uchiha had once mentioned a younger brother who had problems dealing with his anger. His pissed off attitude was proof enough. She knew she had to get away. The chakra masses, her body had to intake earlier, was now showing its consequences, and she didn't know if she could withhold a one-on-one battle. Not wanting to take any chances, her eyes scanned the perimeter and spotted a steep waterfall to her right. This should suffice.
With a twitch of her three tomoe Sharingan, she forced him a good length away, causing him to land hard on his bottom. The unusual jutsu caught the man by surprise.
In a matter of seconds, she disappeared.
Strikes of red swirled in his pitch black eyes, nearly filling them wholly except for three black comma-like markings which then continued morphing into a pinwheel, the Mangekyō. By activating it, he tried calculating her next strike. Nothing, no sign of her. His visions were clear as day, this couldn't possibly be a genjutsu? He blinked and next thing he knew, the girl with short, white hair and striking green eyes was standing right in front of him with two fingers poking his forehead.
"Release!" She whispered into his ear, then shot him a wink and took off in a flash, diving head first into the water. She knew Itachi's replica would be smart enough not to go after her. After all, winter had merely come to a finish, meaning the water was freezing. But he didn't have to know that getting soaked was never her intention. He couldn't have known that flying was like second nature to her.
She wasn't wrong about him not willing to follow her, rather about the reason: The Uchiha wasn't thinking about water temperatures... He looked as if he'd seen a ghost. And it'd take him a while to understand what had just happened.
