Bruce had been terrified the moment he had brought home Jason to the manor.
It had seemed like a great idea to take in another child, to help save another orphan from a life of loneliness and hate.
But he had forgotten his oldest wasn't an average child and doing his best to grow to be human again.
Richard Grayson.
An ex Talon that had surrendered to Batman a few years ago, been killing since he was just eight years old as he stood as the Gray Son.
Gray Son, the Court of Owls greatest creations and most powerful, strongest and skilled Talon to be known.
Gray Son was the future, still is, even if he chose to use his forced upon gifts to save lives instead of stay taking them.
And he prefers to live by the name Dick.
Dick's Grandfather had ruined Dick's life the moment his parents had birthed him.
Both Mary and John Grayson were killed in an "accident" during their first show together after having Dick.
Leaving Dick's Grandfather the only legal guardian allowed to collect and take in the boy.
Dick never even had the chance to live a childhood, he's only known the Court of Owls.
And Batman would admit, it left him having no real hope for Dick to stop being a talon or living as the Gray Son when that was all he had ever known, ever been taught.
But Dick was an odd Talon, had always chose to fly over slaughter.
Flying was the one thing Batman could allow Dick to do without fear over the boy's Talon day's flaring up again.
It left Bruce fearing that Dick might see Jason as a threat.
Or worse, that Dick was no longer needed and being replaced.
Bruce knew what happened when a Talon wasn't needed anymore or when one was replaced.
Bruce held his breath the moment he saw golden eyes glowing within the dark cave, awaiting for the boy to strike or run.
But he did neither.
To Bruce's surprise, Dick had merely chirped towards Jason.
Jason had merely tilted his head, uneasy and confused over what the older teen was doing.
And soon afterwards, Dick had scooped up the tiny and underfed Jason before stealing him away as his own hatchling.
Dick had nicknamed Jason as Little Wing and basically huddled him in thick bedding and blankets. Keeping the boy warm and always fed as much as Alfred allowed.
Seeing Jason as another broken wing bird in need of being cared for until it could fly again.
Bruce was left relived over how well his two sons got along.
Dick adored Jason and Jason saw Dick as his hero.
During the day and during the night, both would always be checking in on the other.
Dick taught Jason to fly, as a robin and as a bat.
Jason taught Dick him to act his age better.
But children will be children.
Just as siblings will be siblings.
Bruce had been so caught up in the peace and happiness held within his family that he did in fact forget his oldest being an Talon. Knowing slip ups would sometimes happen even after long months of ease.
Jason had gotten a new torch, Robin themed, and simply showed it in Dick's face.
He held no reason to do so, he just turned it on and shined it in his big brother's face like an annoying sibling.
Dick's inner Talon awoken and he assumed Jason was trying to find weakness or weaker him to attack why he's defenceless.
Leaving Dick to grab Jason like he weighed nothing and throw him across the room without mercy or a second thought over his actions.
His eyes might be sensitive to light but his grandfather had taught him to be able to find half decided if needed. Being blind was child's play for him.
It left the two brothers and Bruce gaining very long speeches.
Jason and Dick getting lectured by Thompkins at her clinic as she patches up an injured Jason.
Bruce got an even longer lecture by Alfred once he had arrived home after the visit to the clinic.
It was an incident t hat grew forgotten as the two oldest grew older and more siblings joined the family. Dick's days as a Talon grew further from Bruce's mind as his oldest was practically more human then anyone else he's ever met.
His main weakness were known by the family and dodged during patrol as much as possible.
So, when his two oldest sons stood as adults, Bruce didn't pay much attention to their behaviour during patrol or any idiotic move either might make.
For instance, Red Hood picking up a goon's "special" torch they were making in an basement and flicked it on without looking who might be in the direction of the torch's spotlight.
Batman merely heard the yelps of his second oldest and angry chirps of his oldest over the coms as Talon awoken, assuming Red Hood was trying to attack him yet again, and threw him as far as possible in the basement.
Neither hard learnt their lessons from before it seemed.
Leaving Batman to scold and lecture his oldest two son's without mercy once they were back at the batcave.
And an even worse lecture to Bruce by Alfred, yet again.
The rest of Bruce's children, thankfully, learnt from Jason's lesson and knew to never shine any light towards their big brother unless they wanted to be seen as an threat trying to attack him while he's assumed "weak" in other eyes.
As well as being reminded that their big brother had once been an Talon and the warning lectures weren't actual a prank after all.
Though, as the time before, Dick didn't hold the incident against Jason as Jason did the same for Dick. Both found themselves in the same safe house, huddled under layers of blankets and eating some of Alfred's baked treats while judging Justice League heroes that were being shown on different news channels.
Any torches in the safe house left tucked away, out of sight and out of mind.
The only light in the safe house being the tv screen and the pair of glowing golden eyes that was enough of a night light for Jason to fall asleep with.

A/N:
I'd like to think that Talon Robin Dick also picked a fight with the bat signal the first time he ever saw it up close.
Like, he'd arrive with Batman, early days on patrol and Gordon would have the bat signal still turned on. Not noticing it bringing discomfort to Batamn's newest.. partner.
Leaving Gordon's first impression over Talon Dick being him attacking the bat signal, throwing Batman off the rooftop for leading him into a "trap", assuming he wanted Talon to be weaken by blindness for an sneak attack. And Gordon just.. slipping back inside the station deciding he can go a night without dealing with anymore of Batman's crazy.
The next night, Batman awkwardly asks if Gordon is willing to turn the bat signal off whenever he arrives or Robin arrives.
Gordon assuming that maybe the spotlight was too distracting or bright for the young boy and happily turning it off once he knows Batman or Robin has arrived. As well as gaining glow in the dark Robin's that he stuck on the walls of the station's rooftop, around the roof entrance door, for Robin to find more calming.
Dick adores the glow in the dark stickers and Batman has to buy them for him just to get Dick of the bat ceiling.
