Bruce wasn't sure how to be a father, let alone an guardian to an angry and traumatized eight year old who had watched his parents fall to their deaths, be murdered before his very eyes. As well as all the other bad stuff that followed after he was sent to the detention centre afterwards.

Bruce was trying, mostly counting on Alfred to work some type of magic to give the boy a better life. Batman had his hands full trying to chase his ward who kept sneaking out every night to gain his revenge and drag him back home.

And why Bruce knew he wouldn't ever be the perfect role model or step up overly well as a parent the boy needed. He found things a little bit easier once Dick knew his secret, bullied Batman into gaining a partner, and the pair ended up watching star wars together during a terrible storm in Gotham that kept the rogues at home. 

Dick fell in love with star wars, demanded that if they ever got the chance to travel through alternate universes, he called dibs on visiting the stars wars one first. Bruce agreed to such a demand from his ward, not believing that there ever would be an alternate universe that was the star wars universe.  

Though Bruce might have argued with his ward once he started pushing his luck with his next demand. He called dibs on befriending Chewbacca and becoming the new Han's solo. Bruce wanted to be Han's solo first, he wanted the cool ship and have a long and loyal lasting friendship with Chewbacca. 

Their argument may have grown heated enough that the next night both Batman and Robin were having a point contest involving their criminals take down. The not so friendly game anymore growing a little overboard that Agent A got involved and grounded them both. Robin was left in aw over watching Batman be grounded. Dick was left terrified as he realized that Alfred was more powerful than Batman, he never left his socks laying about again since. 

Bonding over star wars with Dick became an tradition for the whole family as it grew. 

Star Wars was something that Bruce used to grow a better truce with Jason when he first brought his second son home. The early days were still uneasy and tough. Bruce had carelessly mentioned it being "Star wars day" without much thought over what he was pointing out. A bit bitter over his second father, Alfred, having gotten an call from Dick who cheerfully laughed "May the 4th be with you, Alf" before hanging up as soon as he sensed Bruce heading towards the manors phone to listen in. 

Alfred wasn't overly pleased with his foster son, still not happy with how things had ended between him and his grandson. But Alfred didn't allow his distaste to ruin Jason's childhood either. 

He also hoped that Star Wars could grow to be a family bonding event. Helping to get the films ready as soon as Jason had questioned over what star wars day was. Bruce brightening up at the chance to bond with his second son while teaching him over star wars. Unconsciously hoping that maybe Dick would be willing to join them doing the next star wars movie night. 

Dick never did join Bruce for another star wars movie night while Jason stood as Robin. But Dick, having tried being a better brother for Jason. Trying to move past his issues with their shared father for Jason's sake. Did indeed have a star wars movie night with Jason, having babysit his little brother while Bruce was away on league business. 

The two brothers might have flew through Gotham's night sky as Robin and Nightwing. Both having been spotted with glowing batons that looked a little bit like specially made lightsabres that were a gift from Wayne enterprise league funding, Alfred having placed the specially made  lightsaber order in personally for his grandsons. 

Jason still never told Dick where he buried his lightsaber baton after that night. Having buried it somewhere safe that Bruce won't ever find and lecture them over being childish once he was back. 

Bruce never did learn over that night but Alfred held a photo over Nightwing and Robin posing in the batcave with their mini  lightsaber's batons in hand and posing together. The photo was fondly kept in a photo frame within the butlers bedroom. 

Tim knew over star wars but he never have movie night with his parents. And if he fancy watching a film, he simply watched it after school. Always sneaking out at night to take photos over Batman and Robin normally left him not watching movies too late. 

But Dick saw that it was his family's duty to spoil the teen into learning the magically and cool world known as Star Wars. He called Bruce up, making sure he'd be free on the 4th of may and that Flash and coming out of retirement for one night only, Kidflash wouldn't mind doing a quick patrol around Gotham for them. Both owed him a few favours after all. 

Bruce gained his wish of having Dick join for another star wars movie night. Only wishing that all his children were involved and kept glancing towards Jason favourite chair during all three movies. Dick simply picked up an bb gun and shot at his father figure every time he noticed him glancing towards Jason's favourite chair. 

By the third film, Bruce was throwing pillows back towards his oldest and Tim got caught up as the tickle war began. The movie night mostly ended with the three picking up any spilled snacks as Alfred stood in the doorway, disappointed frown on his lips. 

Jason skipped star wars day once everyone learnt he was back alive. But he did hold a fond smile as he came across an specially made blaster that shot out bubbles. It looked just like Princess Leia blaster and Jason knew his oldest brother was involved with this. More so by the "May the 4th be with you" written across a sticky note left by the blaster. 

His older brother still have terrible and messy hand writing.

Stephine and Cassandra got to join the next star wars movie night with the whole family. Jason being dragged along and most of those who have been in the family the longest had decided to wear star wars themed tops for the fun of it. Bruce even wearing a star wars tie that day. 

The movie night filling with playfully arguments over what character they'd be or date. As well as pointing out faults or coming up with new plans they would have used instead of the ones done in the movies. Old movies and new. 

A bit of a wrestling match breaking out that only stopped once they heard Alfred's footsteps heading towards the room. Leaving them all to quickly try and actual overly casual to skip on a scolding lecture. 

Damian was the hardest to get to give Star Wars a try. 

He wasn't raised a bit.. differently to most of them. 

Star wars didn't catch his interest, as well as the displeasure he held over the mere thought over stepping into such a fandom. 

But Dick mostly held the boy prisoner while he was under his care and got him to have a star wars movie weekend with him. 

Worryingly, the boy seemed to adore and admire darth vader. 

Dick just overlooked that concerning hero to the boy as part of his charm. And he also kept an closer eye on him as they stood as Batman and Robin around young children. Making sure his Robin didn't use his katana on any children he found annoying while in the mask. 

Time Duke joined, everyone owed a star wars top or star wars cosplay that they wore whenever a star wars movie weekend was planned. A week before would normally hold the known war between Bruce and Dick over who gets to be Hans Solo. It was always 50/50, reminding all bat-clan members that Dick wasn't just the overly friendly and sweet big brother when he goes all out against Batman to be Hans solo again. Alfred normally gets involved by the end of the week and simply flips a coin for the two. Threatening that no one is allowed allowed to be Chewbacca best friend if they allow their fights get out of hand. 

Damian had long since claimed anything darth vader themed. Leaving everyone to have a rather easy fall back gift type to use for the boy around Christmas and his birthday. If art supplies wasn't possible at the time at least. 

Whenever the 4th of may came around, all bat clan members suddenly gaining a lightsaber style weapon to use during patrol that night. Most of them having another hero suit made with secret star wars designs or patterns added to them as well. 

Though Robin was still forbidden from having anything link to darth vader added to his costume during the night. Rogues and heroes were already terrified over the new Robin enough, they didn't need people fearing the boy was going to suddenly become a new darth vader. 

All in all, Bruce will forever be thankful to star wars for bringing his family together at least once a year and giving them something to bond over together as a family.
