The pit had buried a lot of memories for him.

Mostly the good and heart warming memories that would made his pure hatred fault by the mere flash of such memories.

Just like the memory over witnessing soulmates being real.

Jason was young when he was Robin, caught up in gaining a new home and a better promised life to realize that he had unknowingly stolen it from another.

He knew he wasn't to blame, not truly, but he still ended up being part of the problem, part of the hurt.

But Dick grew to be the bigger person, knew he couldn't forever hate the newly gained little brother he was given. Tried stepping up as a better person and an even better brother to Jason.

Jason liked Dick, grew a crush on him but admired him as the original Robin and adored him as an Flying Grayson.

It made them getting along much easier when both wanted to gain a better bond between them and truly stand as brothers.

But what Jason had loved most was meeting KidFlash, retired, for now.

Wally and Dick were soulmates.

They had connected on such a deeper level that anyone else looked like an cheap copy.

In friendship or in romance.

The two held a love that would survive every universe and every timeline.

Because where one was born, the other would clearly follow soon after.

And Jason had cheated a little to know that in every universe held a version of Dick Grayson and Wally West who held such a strong and deep connecting bond between them.

Friendship or Romance, the two were soulmates.

In this universe, Jason was blessed to see them as lovers.

They were sickly sweet and cute together, perfect as a couple.

Wally knew Dick better than anyone else and would always know Dick on a level that others would forever wish they could understand.

Dick, he'd destroy himself for the sake of protecting Wally's smile and worse of all, he'd force himself to stay alive just so he'd never have to force Wally to grieve for him. Living was so much harder then death for the type of darkness that creeps into their lives as vigilantes.

Jason would always encourage Bruce to leave for an overnight work business or League missions around the world.

Knowing Dick would be called to babysit him and if Jason was willing, Wally would join.

Jason felt what it was like to having loving parents that cherished him and cared for each other in a healthy way.

The two would stand proud over Robin, praising him for his latest tricks or growth in handling Gotham patrols.

The two would show up at his school during his plays and cheer so loud that Jason would fill with embarrassment and pretend to not even know either one of them until they reached the car.

The two would spoil him while also passing on skills to grow to be a good and decent person that even he'll be able to respect.

The two would pass on advice and show that sometimes apologizing was hard but was important. Neither afraid to apologize to him when it mattered.

The two would carry him to bed, even if they knew he was faking being asleep. To tuck him into a warm and safe bed and press a kiss to his face or hair. Whispering him to sleep well or have pleasant dreams.

The two would answer their phones at unholy hours of the day if he was ever sacred or ended up having an nightmare.

None of the  three were ever going to forget having to try and hide a certain Wallace West from Batman as he was left stuck through an half opened window and unable to get in or out without assitance. But the speeder's luck brought on the bad luck of tripping one of the manner alarms, earning Batman to stalk the grounds. Dick was left in hiding as well, more dignified hiding spot while Jason had to pretend to have spotted something and get Batman to chase after the false lead.

Alfred was both amused and very unamused by the morning.

Dick and Wally were Jason's heroes in real life.

He wanted to grow up to be just like them and he knew he deserved to be loved as they love each other. He was worth of such a love and bond.

He shouldn't allow himself to accept anything less.

They taught him that much.

And it's why Jason found himself standing alone on one of the many rooftops of Gotham.

Faint memories dancing around Gotham before his eyes as more and more old memories were brought back to life.

But the worse of his mental pictures were his Robin self standing a few meters away and standing with an broken heart.

Because if two perfect soulmates couldn't have protected their love forever, what chance did he have.

Jason shook away such a false vision away.

His eyes darting to a new direction where he saw Nightwing standing on a rooftop much further away, on his own patrol route.

His brother stood as he's always stood, always been the hero that everyone else had needed.

But Jason saw it, the hole in his brother's chest from where his heart had been ripped out of his chest when KidFlash, recently out of retirement, had died.

Nightwing was only flying due to Dick staying alive for the sole sake of not wanting to make his lost soulmate lose his smile in the afterlife over him joining him too soon when so many others needed him still.

But Jason saw the truth, no life was saving in his brother's eyes if he wasn't allowed to keep the one thing that had made his life worth living.

Jason knew it'd be a long time before he meets with Death again.

But when his time is gone, he'll be throwing a brutal and ruthless punch to death.

Not for stealing his life too early on at the first time but for breaking apart two soulmates who proved true love was real.

Jason would fight death for Wally West's early death.

Because Death took the one thing that no unearthly power were allowed to control or steal, soulmates.

A long time ago..

"Why do you love someone like Dickie?" Jason asked as he stared straight at the red head who sat on the opposite end of the worn and old couch, trying to figure out why he'd date someone like his brother.

"Because he fell in love with me as I am. And he's never wanted more from me. In fact, when I had finally grown the courage to confess my feelings, he rejected me. Cold rejection. Not because he thought he could do better or deserve more but because he assumed that I deserved someone better. He thought he'd ruin my life by loving me. And who knows, maybe he will ruin my life one way or another, but I look forward to having our lives ruined because we'd watch everything burn together. Side by side. Knowing him, he'd probably say some silly joke before dragging me for a dance in-between the flames" Wally answered honestly with an warm smile and gentle eyes. Staring off at something only he could see as he knew he'd want to love only the one person who's entered his life and he'd forever staying that one person.

"Who wouldn't love someone who'd chose to spend their finally moments as we burn together by creating one last happy memory together?" Wally asked back with a smitten look as he turned towards the youngest Robin, seeing nothing wrong with falling in love with Richard.

"I want that" Jason shyly admitted as he looked down at his lap, knowing he'd want what they had with someone someday.

"Hmm?" Wally hummed back happily, knowing the boy wanted to say more and giving him the chance to collect his thoughts first.

"I want to be able to smile in my final moments with the one I love instead of wasting our finally moments by trying to save each other. I want to be so in love that death wouldn't scare me because I'd be too distracted being side by side with my own soulmate" Jason announced with clear determination over what he wanted in his life. The love he wanted to feel and keep when he meets the right person.

"Soulmates, eh? That sounds rather magically. And magic normally means you're linked forever. Wouldn't mind such a spell or curse placed on me if that means I get to forever stay with Rob" Wally sighs wishfully over the thought. Smiling more sappily as he sags more into the couch and mutters out his own thoughts on the matter without a care if he was seen as a love sick fool or not.

"You'll be together in every life. It's a fact" Jason stated rather smugly, already knowing it was true even if he wasn't allowed to show his proof just yet.

"Just as it's a fact that you'll find someone, someday, Jay. We all do. Not all soulmates last but we do cross paths at least once unknowingly. And sometimes, it isn't our soulmates that give us true love. Someday, you'll find your own love and happiness. Even if it's self love. Self love is much more powerful then soulmates. Soulmates are born because they can't love themselves, so they need another to love them for them. But self love, that proves you're strong enough to not need a second half to be born for mere sake of loving you" Wally promises with a sweet smile as he sits up again, turning his head to look at the other with an mother like expression as he pokes at Jason's chest, just where the heart would be. Letting the boy know there was something even more powerful then soulmates out there.

"But I wouldn't need anyone if I was able to love myself" Jason commented with an frown, slapping the older man's hand away.

"So? You'll be stuck with me and Dick. You're family, our little wing. You're forever trapped with us now. No take backs. No returns, I ran off with our recipe years ago" Wally grinned back wickedly, rather set on making sure to bother his future brother in law for the rest of his life. He saw it as his life duty now.

"Oh no, that sounds terrible" Jason groans back overly dramatically, a fond smile pulling on his lips as he looks away from the red head. Cherishing that he'd forever have a family who'd love him, if he needed them or not.

The two's moment ending as the front door of the tiny blüdhaven apartment was kicked open and a cheerfully smiling half dressed Nightwing stepped into his home with a pile of pizza boxes in his hands.

"No one tells Alfred over this, yeah?" Dick called back with a goofy grin, kicking the door shut with his foot and not even trying to lock the door afterwards.

"He'll sense us eating all that crap food" Jason scoffed back as he rolled his eyes, noticing the speeder was already stealing ten of the twelve pizzas from the oldest robin.

"But he won't scold us unless we flat out confess. So, take it to your grave, little wing. It's time for us birds and lightening bolt to feed like the royalty we deserve to be" Dick pointed out with a silly smile as he sent a playful wink towards his little brother, passing over one of the two pizza's he was left carrying still.

And taking it to his grave, Jason did.

Even when he came crawling out and returned to Gotham for revenge.

He never once thought over snitching on his parents not parents to the aging butler.

Knowing some secret spoiling treats were allowed to stay secret.
