Bruce was given a huge surprise after he had taken his ward in.

Richard Grayson was known to have lived in the circus all his life but that wasn't the most odd and shocking aspect of his life in the end.

The Grayson's were one of many of bloodlines to the Easter Bunny guardian.

All bloodlines were given certain sections of the world to cover as Easter comes along, the Easter Bunny opening ports for them and leaving baskets of eggs and other chocolate treats to be delivered for him.

It made Easter run more smoothly if the bunny only had to worry over creating all the chocolate treats during the years and leaving their most trusted helpers to deliver them on easter.

It was a job role that Dick had filled since the moment he could walk and carry an chocolate treat in his tiny, chubby hands. His parents teaching him young, letting him grow up with the magic of easter buzzing under his skin.

And it was a job role that Dick was going to carry on completing, with or without Bruce's permission.

As Alfred had put it, "A man who dresses up as a Bat every night can't handle an magical bunny that brings chocolate joys to the world, sir? How disappointing"

So, Bruce offered to help his so-ward, his ward, it was too early to think over the boy as his son just yet.

Even going as far as wearing the bunny ears headband that had appeared out of nowhere and allowed the easter bunny's portals to open for the user. No one was allowed to lose their ears.

Alfred gained a pair as well and soon enough, the three were given a new section to cover, All of Gotham, on easter morning. Patrol left forgotten as this mission was much more important and needed.

But the job was one that lasted a life time.

So, no matter how good or bad a relationship grew within the family, all joined together for Easter to complete their mission.

Jason had never smiled so much when he was brought along, having assumed the others were all pulling his legs over the easter mission beforehand. He'd dibs his old area of the city and gave chocolate treats to all, children and adult, as they were meant too. Hiding them up much better, uncaring as the chocolate eggs or chocolate shaped bunnies and birds were much smaller compared to others.

Dick had explained that those who would struggle to keep their treat or gain it by morning normally got a smaller one. Easier to hide up from anyone else and leave it for the person it was meant to be eaten by to find.

Jason nodded, finding a new respect for the Eater bunny over coming up with many different sizes and shapes of chocolate goodness for the sake of everyone being able to get a treat by morning.

Jason never made it to the next Easter.

But Dick had stared down at the chocolate meant for his little wing and simply placed it on his grave. The Easter bunny always made just the right amount needed and maybe, it was a sign that he didn't overlook the boy who had smiled so bright last easter. To show, he won't be forgotten.

Dick would later learn that the Easter Bunny had opened a private portal himself, stepping through it and ignoring the assassins filling the island. Placing around the chocolate treats in shapes of swords or other ninja like weapons.

Leaving a robin shaped chocolate in it's yellow, red and green wrapper by the bed of a certain lad. One with a streak of white in his hair and was kept asleep by the bunny's magic. One who broke down at the sight of the Robin chocolate time he woke and held it close as an old memory was awaken within him.

Timothy, Cassandra, Stephine, Damian and Duke soon joined in on the family mission. All gaining t heir own ears headband and grabbing a basket that arrives with their first portals. Hopping and flying around Gotham, hiding up or laying out all the chocolate goods inside to bring chocolate joy for all.

Alfred mostly staying back at the manor, preparing hot chocolate for them all for when they return in the early hours. As well as leaving all the treats out in bedrooms that belonged to the Wayne's easter basket. As well as stepping off into whatever country his grandchildren may be in to drop off their easter eggs or treats while they're out delivering other eggs and treats.

Dick would sometimes just stand on the highest roof of Gotham, taking a moment to just breath as he took in the sight.

The Grayson's were flying once more, have been for years, ever since those headbands were placed on and the spirt of Easter was kept alive.

Dick would always smile warmly at the glow of portals filling the city, counting them all unconsciously and knowing that they were all his family keeping Easter alive.

Always leaving a self brought easter egg in the basket after his last run on easter night, giving his own chocolate goodness to the Easter Bunny as his silent sign of gratitude for the gift he kept giving him.

"You've done this all your life?!" Duke half screamed with wide, bug eyes as he stared towards his oldest brother. All of them have been comfortable sitting on the smaller longue, finishing off their hot chocolate and talking over their delivers. Until Duke was left shocked over hearing that Dick's done it all his life and it wasn't some Bat mission that started up after befriending the Easter Rabbit somehow.

"As long as I could remember. Tati or Dya would have me strapped to their chest when I was too young to walk or help. I mostly slept through Easter runs for the first couple of years of my life" Dick answered honestly, tapping a finger to his chin as he thought over it all.

"And you don't get paid?" Steph scoffed back as if he was insane for not demanding a decent wage from such hard work for so long.

"Never wanted to be paid for it. I'm keeping the easter spirt alive. Helping the chocolate made from love and with each person in mind by the Easter bunny to reach those he made them for. It's rewarding in it's own way" Dick replied with a soft smile, his eyes sweet as he thought over all the joy that came from both children and adults who realized they were thought over by the easter bunny.

"He's as sappy as ever. Just give up on trying to reason with him" Jason sighed, shaking his head as he knew that none of the others would be able to win the big bird over on thinking the mission as a hard worked job. He knew he did it for the people, not for himself.

"But all chocolates that appeared on the island would be thrown away. Why hasn't Mr Easter Bunny came up with a better plan for those who receive chocolates to keep them? I had gone most of my life without tasing the chocolate made for me by him" Damian huffed back with an troubled frown, sat cuddled up into Dick's side. Upset over never being able to try his chocolates made special for him due to his mother and grandfather ordering all found chocolate to be thrown into the fires.

"He tries. We all do. We hide up chocolates with our best effects. But we can't force someone to eat them nor lose them to another. Easter isn't a magical bond to the treats. We can't physically make the chocolate treat only for the person it was intended for" Dick awkwardly mumbles back with an grimace as he glances down at his baby bat, knowing that the eater bunny was unable to make sure the treats reached every person. He couldn't just meddle with the human's race after all.

"I use to sneak a bite out of mine before resealing the wrapper and throwing it out as ordered. It would always taste the best" Cass confessed with a small but sweet smile as she runs her fingers over the marshmallow treat left behind for her from the easter bunny.

"Couldn't you have just rescued half of us sooner with the easter portals?" Jason asked as he turned his attention to their father figure. Knowing the bat must have thought over using the portals for his own personal gain, he was Batman after all.

"That's not how the portals work, little wing. You need the headbands to use the easter portals. And sadly, the easter bunny can't meddle with mortals lives. He can't play god for us. It's not in his doing. But he never forgets a single one of us, he makes enough chocolate goodness for all even if they might never get the chance to eat one on Easter" Dick spoke up before Bruce even gave a chance to say anything. Reminding them all over how the portals worked and the rules. As well as not wanting to hear his father figure speak over the portals as a mere gadget for him to use so carelessly.

Dick knew if the easter bunny ever felt like the magic of easter was in danger of being misused, he'd take them away. The headbands would vanish for good for those he could no longer trust. And Dick would have to keep a decent distance from his second family on easter to be able to still be a helper to the easter guardian otherwise he'd risk his own headband being taken away.

He loves his family, he do but he won't give up Easter either. It was important to him, something he's made them known from the start. He won't give it up due to their own power hungry or greedy thoughts to using the portals for self gain.

"I think it's best if we all head to bed. We've brought easter to Gotham and now, our mission is complete. Time for bed" Bruce perked up, standing up as Alfred collected all the empty mugs into his silver tray without problem.

"Would you ever give up being the Easter bunny's helper?" Tim curiously asked his big brother as they all slowly got up from all the spots they say or lazed within the room.

"As long as I can still travel through those portals, Never. Easter's magic is in my blood, it always comes alive once those portals appear. It's more thrilling than being Nightwing. Because I can truly reach my hand out to everyone in this single night then I could all my life as Nightwing" Dick answered with a warm smile, his eyes gentle and honest as he spoke nothing but the truth. Knowing that standing as the easter helper brought him more reason than Nightwing did sometimes.

"I guess we know who'd be reborn as the next Easter guardian someday" Bruce commented with an fond smile pulling at his lips. Knowing his oldest would one day be chosen to replace the easter guardian when the time comes. Knowing his oldest was sometimes easter itself without ever knowing it.

"And we'd be forever proud of him" Alfred promises out loud, looking straight at Dick and knowing that Easter was a huge part of him compared to the others that simply saw it as a mere mission help with. His oldest grandson was the heart of Easter and he'd forever stand proud over that fact.

Extra:

"Why am I alive, again?" Jason asked with a troubled frown, patting himself down and finding himself much younger than he remembers. Trapped in a body where he was most content in life.

"I was allowed to chose my own helpers on the island. I can lay you back to rest if you don't wish to help with Easter" Dick answered happily as he stood before them all, a pair of black ears matching his dark hair sticking out of his head and a matching fluffy tail at his lower back.

"Are we immortal now?" Tim asked in awe, slapping at his own head for any ears and frowning when he found none. Stood at his own preferred age just as the rest of the family seemed to find themselves as.

"Only until my own time runs out as the new Easter bunny. Once my power weakens and fades, we'd all be laid to rest once more. Allowing the new chosen guardian to rise next" Dick explains with a sad smile, knowing none of them would live forever even when he was now a magical being.

"We're not going to be forced to dress as birds or bunnies, right?" Duke asked with pure dread over the mere thought over having to wear animal costumes why they worked. He didn't sign up for that in the after life.

"That would be offensive to the actual bunnies and birds that live on the island and help with easter" Dick huffed back in an disapproving tone, shaking his head to show that none of them would be dressing up as easter animals.

"If you already have workers, why bring us back as helpers?" Stephine asked curious, looking around at the island and trying to work out why they'd been chosen to help if he already had helpers born on the island.

"Because I'd want my family to join me for bringing Easter to everyone. To try and help make sure that all the chocolate and treats we made for each and every person actual reaches for them. I thought you'd all be rather willing to help with that mission" Dick smiles sweetly, his arms crossed behind his back as he bounced on his toes over his plans why he stood as the easter bunny. Wanting to try and make sure that everyone gained their easter treat, just as others had complained over in the past.

"Happy to help, Mr Easter Bunny" Cass smiled back, giving a firm but happy nod. Looking forward to her new life here.

"Thanks. I'll give you all the grand tour first. Tati and Dya awoke before you all did and are looking after the workers while I'm away" Dick smiled back as he waved for them all to get walking with him, leading them further within the island and towards his very own kingdom in the distance.

"How many have you planned to awaken?" Bruce asked with a small frown, eyebrows furrowed as he wondered how many others they might cross paths with.

"Those closest to me. But it seems that I can't control what order they arrive in. The past week has been eventful" Dick answers with a sheepish smile, scratching at one of his ears. The re-awaking anyone hasn't gone to plan completely due to never knowing when who would wake or in what order.

"Baba, I demand to meet my grandparents this instinct" Damian demanded without any care that he stood before a guardian, focused on wanting to meet the original Flying Grayson's.

"I'm sure I can swing past them during the tour" Dick smiled back over his shoulder, knowing his parents have been wanting to meet his other family too.

"The island is very beautiful, Master Dick" Alfred praised as he looked around at the breath taking island, knowing it looked as magical as it felt.

"It's all natural. The rabbits, bunnies and birds have lived here long before the Easter guardian had been granted life. We do our best to protect the island and keep it thriving healthily" Dick gave out the facts happily as he knew some might assume it was formed by magic but it never was. Leaving it's beauty all more stunning as it stood natural.

"Now, who wants candy?!" Dick asked with a face splitting grin, having spun round to face them all as he prepared to let them enter his own little kingdom.
