8. The Tree Of Death.

Azazel's POV

"I know I should have stabbed you harder. What the fuck is going on here?!" She shouted as she wiped her tears with the back of her hand.

"You did what? Do you even know the punishment for stabbing him? For drawing his blood?" Raphael raged as he went towards her with slow and determined steps.

I went in front of her and stopped him by pushing him away from her.

"She didn't know. It's not at all her fault." I told him, stretching my plam forward in a warning.

"Doesn't matter! You know the rules. She has to pay for what she did." He said as he again took a step towards her.

"Really? Since when do you care about rules? Don't make me do something I'll regret Raph." I said and he clenched his fists.

He was pissed. Everyone was bound by that rule.

The rule to kill any soul, be it an angel or demon, whosoever draws the blood of an angel has to cease to exist.

By this rule, Aurora should die. Even if she drew the blood of a fallen angel, she needs to die.

Was I going to let that happen?

Never.

"You're not going to hurt her. Not on my watch. We've more pressing matters on our hands. The mightiest Archangel is dead. If whoever is able to kill him this gruesomely then no soul is safe anywhere." I put some sense into him

"Wait for me downstairs. I'll be back in 5 minutes." I said as I finally understood the meaning of words that Aurora spoke.

"This discussion is not over." He said and I turned around to find empty spot where Aurora was standing.

Son of a bitch!

If I had a penny for everytime I said son of a bitch, I'd be a millionaire by now.

"I believe you're searching for her." Raphael said as he dragged her along with him.

The sight of him dragging her and she fighting him was enough to flip the switch of my rage.

"Touch her again and you'll bear the consequences." I whispered but the voice was enough to stop Raphael in his tracks.

"You're landing yourself in a trouble that you don't want to. Believe me." He said and left us alone.

I looked at her as she tried to avoid my gaze.

I went near her and took her cold hand in mine.

Her eyes shot up to mine as I dragged her hand to where my heart was located.

"The next time you try killing someone stab harder here." I told her and measured her expression.

"You didn't attack me in self defense. You wanted to kill me!" I shouted and she flinched.

She did not deny it!

She looked dead panned in my eyes, "Yes! I wanted to kill you." She said as she removed her hand from my grasp.

Never have I ever had the urge to punch something so hard as I did right now.

"Why? I don't even know who you are." I asked her.

"So don't I." She said as she took a step away from me.

"Why?" I asked her again with as much patience as I could conjure.

"I'm never telling you." She said.

It literally hurt me to ask her next question, "Did you kill that guy?" I asked her, pointing my finger to Uriel.

Her eyes widened, "I would never kill an innocent! I don't know how he ended up there. One moment I was sleeping and the next moment there was something dripping on my face and I woke up to this... This scene." She said as tears brimmed her eyes.

So I'm not innocent. What did I do?

"Don't try to escape, because there's not a single place in this forsaken planet that can hide you from me. Try to run again and you'll be chained up in my room." I warned her as I took her hand and dragged her to my room.

"What? Are you crazy? Let go of me." She struggled against me.

I needed to contain my laughter as she tried to get away from me.

Humans are so silly.

I opened my bedroom's door and dragged her inside.

"I hope you go to hell." She said and I laughed out loud.

"Been there, the devil didn't like me and threw me out. Nice place for a tour but a little too hot from my point of view." I said and she widened her eyes.

"The choice is yours Aurora." I said closing the door behind me.

"Your 5 minutes are up." Raphael said standing in front of her room.

"Not now Raph." I said as I moved closer towards the body.

The room looked hideous with strokes of blood striking on the walls. I closed Uriel's eyes and felt a pany in my chest. He was a good friend.

Raphael helped me as I pulled the body from the ceiling and placed it onto the floor.

None of us flinched at the condition his body was in.

We had seen too much in our existence that nothing surprises us anymore.

"This is bad. Way too bad." Raphael said as he inspected the marks on Uriel's body.

He was tortured. He had knife marks, countless stab wound in his body. Funny that we're immortal yet we can still die by certain weapons that'll bleed us out within seconds without our body knowing how to heal replenish the blood.

"They shredded his wings. Who has this much guts to do that? I hope he was already dead when they did it." Raphael said and I agreed.

To have the wings of an angel shredded from him was the most worst form of disrespect and humiliation that could ever occur to him.

The wings held the pride of an angel. They held their might and strength. Any angel would prefer death than to see his wings being taken away from him.

"We need to inform upstairs." I said.

"They already know. Don't you see the weather. The whole heaven is mourning." He said and I observed the rain and thunderstorm outside the window.

"It's looks just like that day..." Raphael stopped and I looked at him.

"Which day?" I asked.

"The day you fell." Raphael said and I huffed.

"I'm not kidding Azazel, the whole heaven cried when you fell. You were their favorite angel." Raph said and I clenched my fists.

"I don't care about them Raph. Let get the body up on the balcony so that they can collect it." I said and we carried the body up in the balcony.

The moment we placed the body on the floor, thunder striked on him him and then there was silence... And smoke.

The floor bore the mark of a tree where he was just placed.

I knew that tree.

The tree of death.

Still it felt like I was gazing at it for the first time because this one was so much bigger and older like he was.

The tree was all dried up with wilting branches and one last single leaf that had fallen off its branch.

The leaf of tree indicated the end of an angel's life.

The leaf caught fire and dissipated as the tree finally died and disappeared.

"You'll be avenged Uriel." Raphael said looking at the burned spot and I nodded my head.

He was my friend and I'll help to avenge him.

But first I need to find out why Aurora wants to kill me.
