Kiwis Should Fly, Too (New Zealand x Reader)

(Simon = New Zealand)

"Simon? What's in the pack?" You ask, gesturing quizzically towards the bulging, leather satchel slung simply across the shoulders of the sandy-winged man. He averted his gaze in embarrassment, his green eyes sparkling in humour. He shuffled his feet as his wings fluttered a little behind him, moving some stray leaves that were resting on the ground.

"I- uh, heh. Nothing, why?" He replied, scratching the back of his head, his accent edging every word. Simon laughed airily, trying to avoid the question, light pink dusting his cheeks. You narrowed your eyes, your (h/c) wings splaying out behind you. As you folded your arms, a faint clicking sound made itself known. Simon's bag started to squirm.

"Nothing, huh?" You raised an eyebrow, scrutinizing the New Zealander with your (e/c) gaze. He bit his bottom lip, trying not to smile. After another moment of whatever was in his bag making noise, he exhaled loudly and put his hands in front of him.

"Alright, you caught me. It's rather ridiculous, don't laugh." Simon said in surrender, reaching towards the flap on his satchel and lifting it open. He revealed a pair of kiwi birds that somehow fit in the small bag. The pale-streaked birds scrambled over each other, looking up through the opening and chirping.

"Kiwis?" You look up at him after observing the birds for a few seconds. He chuckled a little.

"Ah, yeah. They can't fly, so..." He trailed off. You grinned and wrapped your arms around his neck. Which, of course, caused him to gasp in surprise, his sand-colored wings springing up behind him. You planted a kiss on his cheek, earning a bashful smile from Simon.

"Love ya, Simon."

"I love you, too, (y/n)."
