Chapter 3
Chris Pine as Kadir Arber

The kitchen was silent, other than the sound of glasses touching the glass table top after being sipped from. It had been twenty minutes since William and Cody had dragged Maria out of Kenna's bedroom. Once they had gotten her to settle down, they had grabbed their drinks again and had collapsed on the lounge. From then on they had lounged around taking swigs from their drinks and talking about the everyday activities.
Forty minutes after the last time check (9:07pm) Maria started to question the boys in her worry.
"What's happening?" She asked. "It's too quiet and he's been gone too long."
The boys had been watching the time and noticed the stillness in the house. Cody looked at William and mentally transpired a message through his eyes and got up. He reached the main bedroom in seven metre-and-a-half-steps. He listened in carefully - nothing echoed within - and quietly turned the handle and creaked open the door to fit half his body through. He smiled tightly and retracted himself from the room, replacing the door as he went. He walked back to the others waiting for his account.
"We should go to bed. It's getting late." Was all he gave the. Left unsatisfied, Maria got up and headed to the guest room, turning once to look back at the boys setting up in the living room.

It was sometime close to midnight when the nightmares started again. It was the same as them all just with a different setting. Kenna was still fragile from the one before her friends had come in to comfort her but she still had enough pride left to be insulted by the beginning of it. She was not a gardener!
But, yet, still there she was with gloves, an apron and one of these stupid straw hats on. Just kneeling there getting mud on her pink jeans, plucking weeds and planting - oh the horror! - cucumber, apple and sunflower seeds. She really wanted to hurl at the scene, but who was she kidding! She had no control in her dreams!
That being said, her unresponsive body's head lifted and smiled as it saw a bloke - she realistically never met - and a child with both their features holding his hand in one of its smaller ones and the other holding the strap of its backpack. As the child saw her it's eyes lit up and she distantly heard 'mummy!' as it ran to embrace her. She took off her gloves and placed them on the nearby wheelbarrow before opening her arms to embrace her... baby? The man that brought the child smiled with love shining in his eyes. Wait - What?!
There was a loud bang and the man's eyes enlarged. He made a gurgling sound as he tried to speak through the blood bubbling out his mouth. A dark stain slowly started to spread out around him as he fell onto the grass. Kenna's body clutched at the child in her arms. She frowned when a clattering sound. She looked down to see bones instead of a human. She dropped them onto the now dead grass. She pushed herself up and turned around. The spilt second that she blinked she was back on the front lines weaving between the fighters and lashing out at the enemy. Kenna's mind recognised the scene and knew she was going to be wacked over the head in five minutes. That is, is someone on the outside world hadn't started shaking her.
The dream landscape started to fade and grumble. Blackness started to replace it and that was then highlighted by grey.
As some consciousness returned, she squinted and made out a shadowed form in the night. Groaning she lifted her fist and wacked it on the shoulder a few times to say that she was awake. She felt it relax and shift off her - which she had only just noticed its weight holding her down - to lay next to her and wrap its arms around her. They both fell asleep again soon after.

Kadir was woken to a heap of blankets thrown over him and Kenna making the bed jingle with her inconsistent thrashing. He threw his arm up quickly as a fist came to wack him in the face. He waited a few minutes, surprised she didn't wake up from the impact she was making, before dodging another near nose-break and rolled into action. He thrust himself off the bed and turned so that he ended up straddling her and restricting the lower half of her body. Grabbing her shoulders and stopping the majority of her arm movements, he started shaking her. When he got her weak signal that she was awake, he rolled off her and embraced her again.
It was around ten am when he woke up again with a warm and fuzzy feeling on his chest and atop his waist. It shifted, making the hairs on his chest fall over and stand on end. It rubbed its face into his skin. Curiosity got the better of him and forced him to look down. His face was inches from Kenna's. It took them several seconds to realise the position they were in. And when they did they shoved each other away. Kenna was pushed to her side of the bed and Kadir was pushed off the bed.
Kenna paused for a couple of minutes before crawling over the bed and looking over the edge. Kadir lay on the floor awkwardly cocooned in the bed quilt.
"You ok?" She whispered down. There was a sound of shuffling before his hand emerged from the fabric, thumb up. She nodded and shuffled backwards and off the bed. She went to her draws and grabbed items of clothing out. She took one last look at the caterpillar as she passed on the way to the shower.
When she emerged, everyone was in the kitchen. The aroma of bacon went straight to her gut. It grumbled loudly ,having not had a good meal in weeks. She glanced at her closed bedroom door with a sigh. Walking past it and into the kitchen, she was greeted by a cup of coffee shoved in her face. Turning her head to the side to see around the 'hovering' eye-level mug, Kadir's impassive face was the only hint she got that this was not a fight she was going to win. Shyly taking the cup out of his hand, Kenna moved to the furthest side of the kitchen from Kadir. The tension in the air lessened slightly but not enough to slip under Maria's radar. Kenna shook her head. This wasn't something she would share easily.
"Feeling better?" William's question had Kenna's neck twisting suddenly and violently, making her pull a muscle.
"Must be." He mumbled as he watched her stand in pain trying not to move. He looked at the slight pointed cough Kadir gave. He stood his head. "Maybe not then."
Silence layered again, nobody willing to make the first move.
Cody came in half asleep, hair ruffled, shirt still making its way onto his torso and nothing covering his batman boxers. He froze as he came into the doorway. The tension skyrocketed. Cody was the youngest and nobody wanted to drag or involve him in the awkward moment.
"There better be some bacon left." He growled huskily. Everyone's shoulders slumped in relief, smiles even briefly showing. Everyone sat down at the table as Kadir slapped Cody's hand away from the frypan before dishing up the plates.
"So," Cody mumbled through a mouthful of heaven. "When do we head back?" Forks were halted mid air and some coffee was even choked on. Why couldn't Cody keep his mouth shut?
<A/N: Tension, tension, tension. So... sorry for the month delay. But that's the deadline. A month to two. Remember, I'm still in high school so I'll be busy doing exams and assignments.
This chapter is crap, I know. But it's a filler. And hints at something that is happening and is going to happen.
