"A key part of being an elemental master is learning how to summon and work with your spirit animal," Wu told his students, a light smile on your face. "The fey creatures are very different from regular animals. They are not simply pets you can poof into existence." The ninja nodded slowly as they listened intently to their mentor.

"They are your guardians, your teachers, your partners, your friends," Wu explained. "They connect to your soul and are tied to your elemental power. The more you learn and grow with your spirit animal the more bonded you become. Therefore the more powerful you can be."

"But you need to be careful," Wu said warningly. "Breaking your spirit animals' trust, causing your relationship to become negative can taint your link to them and can be very dangerous."

Once he was finished the introduction he relaxed, opening his stance and softening his expression. "Your fey animal is a representation of your own qualities. You could say that you're kindred spirits."

Kai groaned as Wu chuckled to himself. "Oh, FSM." Kai grumbled.

"I thought it was good!" Jay praised. "Very punny!"

"Shut up." Kai elbowed the auburn-haired boy.

"Now that we have the first part done I can show you how to summon your animal from the fey world." Master Wu raised one of his hands. Nya's eyes were bright with anticipation and she bounced on her feet while Lloyd watched with wary interest.

It was very different from the forms the ninja had learned when doing Spinjitzu. More delicate, enchanting, almost mesmerizing. Wu's fingers bent through the air, twisting and flowing like water, rising like wind, and holding steady as earth. Golden light swirled around the sensei, following his hands in an arc before he closed his eyes and in a burst of brilliant sparks, a form appeared.

The ninja gasped, their eyes widening as a gentle, but very large animal stepped into the physical world. They were ginormous, with a thick sturdy build, wrinkled, gold-tinged skin, and huge ears that flapped happily as they stretched their trunk to Master Wu.

Wu chuckled at the elephant (who was pretty small for their species' usual size) and stroked their trunk. "This is La," he said fondly.

"She's beautiful." Nya practically gasped in awe.

"She has been my spirit animal for a very long time. I never would've made it this far without you, old friend." Wu pressed his forehead to hers. The air shimmered where his head touched hers.

"And... we're going to do that?" Jay asked uncertainly.

Wu smiled. "Yes. It may seem daunting but once you unlock that part in you." He snapped his fingers. "It all comes together. And La is here to help guide the spirits to you." Jay nodded quickly. He still looked nervous but there was excitement in his eyes.

Wu guided them through the physicality of the movements as best he could before he had to let the spiritual side take over. "Feel for that tether. It's always there." He said.

Of course, Zane was the first to do it. He only had to try three times before there was a poof and a squawk and an owl appeared on his shoulder, shimmering slightly like they were covered in white stardust. The nindroid's eyes literally glowed with happiness as he stroked his new companion's feathers. The owl cooed and rubbed their head against his.

"What is her name, Zane?" Wu motioned to the bird.

"Lumi," Zane said without missing a beat. He glanced at his fey creature. "I think it suits you."

Next, to no one's surprise, was Nya. Once someone does something before her she worked at it until she could do it too. While Zane's animal had appeared in a soft eruption of white magic, Nya's appeared smoothly. There was a whoosh and a swirl of silver as a fox slid out of the fey world to greet her new human friend. Nya instantly began to hover around her and the fox looked perturbed, giving the girl an unimpressed expression. Nya recoiled as if she was shocked.

"Go slowly, Nya. Each spirit animal is different. You have to work at the relationship." Wu advised her. Nya cast a look at Zane and Lumi who had been fast friends but obeyed, backing up and giving the fox, Reva.

Then came Cole, it took the master of earth a few tries, but at last, he clapped his hands together, eyes glowing orange, and a bear rose from the earth, shaking its fur with a lazy expression. "Kano." Cole voiced as he rubbed the bear on his belly like a dog. "He just talked to me!"

Since Kai hated being shown up by Jay he put in extra effort to be next. Unlike most times it worked and a coyote appeared, with a mischievous grin and glowing red fur. Already the coyote, Agni, was causing Kai some "agony" as Jay so amusedly put it. Kai then knocked the other boy very hard in the head as he played a game of tug-a-war with Agni over his mask.

Jay's animal was not a predator like the others. It was something small, ("Figures." Kai snorted. "Ow!" Kai groaned after Nya punched him), delicate, but also very, very-

"Look how fast they go!" Jay laughed as the hummingbird zipped around, leaving a streak of blue light behind them.

"What are they called?" Kai asked grumpily. Agni rolled around at his feet, a smile on her face.

"Moe." Jay looked pleased while Kai snorted.

"Moe?"

Jay shot him a look. "Well, I didn't choose it! Besides, it suits them."

Then was Lloyd. The Green Ninja's face was pinched with nerves and his hands shook with each movement. The ninja exchanged looks. They were used to seeing Lloyd struggle with the spiritual side of elemental magic. It had always come smoothly to him. Religion and spiritual energy were a core part of who Lloyd was now.

At last, Master Wu crouched beside him and stared his nephew in the eyes. "What's holding you back?" Wu's questioned bluntly.

Lloyd blinked rapidly, brushing his hair from his face quickly. "I just..." he paused, frustrated. "What was my dad's spirit animal?"

Wu's eyebrows raised but he didn't miss a beat. "A panther. His name was Ere."

"Did he... did he hurt him? Taint his spirit? Like you said?" Lloyd whispered.

Wu sighed. "I don't know, Lloyd."

Lloyd closed his eyes. Inhaling deeply through his nose before shakily exhaling. "Okay." He breathed.

Then he took a step forward. His hands moved swiftly, contorting like a fortune teller as he pulled his fingers through the fabric of the fey world. His eyes were closed, emerald sparks twirling around him until a creature broke through with a night roar. Lloyd stood breathless as he stared at the beautiful animal before him.

A lion stared back. Their mane was luxurious, twinkling with little green stars. Their eyes were warm and gentle as if they knew who Lloyd was. As if they understood him in ways that Lloyd didn't even know.

"Hello, Lloyd." Their mouth didn't move. But a voice spoke in his head.

Lloyd. He said. Not Green Ninja. Not Lloyd Garmadon.

Just... Lloyd.

"And you are?" His voice was barely more than a whisper.

"Eeli." The lion almost looked amused. "There is much we can learn from one another."

The edges of his lips tilted upwards. "There is."
