I never should have done it.
Why had a done it?
Why had I given in to the temptation.
I had meant well.
I always mean well.
But even when I mean well people get hurt.
They always get hurt.
It all started out a lot simpler. Get into Ninjago city, find the orphanage, get everyone out of there. But suddenly it grew more complicated. Securities went up as The Bums of Garmadon continued to fail to catch the green ninja. I had barely know any of the history in Ninjago City. I had been working remote so all this was new to me. But I would do anything to keep my family safe. Keep my family alive.
Even if that meant selling out the green ninja himself to the Sons of Garmadon.
Don't get close to them. I said to myself over and over as I located one of the members of the resistance's position. No one needs attachments getting in the way.
That was the mindset I had taken over as a spy.
I found the Resistance member easily. He was loud, fat, and stupid. Dressed in a homemade gi that made my rough and tumble one look designer. His comrades came when I attacked him, just as I planned. What I hadn't expected was the green ninja, who I learned from the girl running the Inevitable's had lost his powers, seemed pretty well trained in hand to hand combat.
But I had my elemental powers on my side. After he pinned me to a wall I began to fade, my body passing easily through his own. He froze in shock as I moved through him before planting him against the wall. I would've been able to knock him around more if his little friend the water ninja hadn't tackled me.
"You're an elemental master." The green ninja said, brow furrowing as the water ninja kept me down. She held water in her hand, my weakness. Like a ghost o couldn't phase through the liquid. It was too fluid.
"Why are you attacking us?" The master of amber questioned. "We're on your side."
"Sorry." I shrugged off the water ninja, her eyes narrowing threateningly. "I came for my family...I haven't been to Ninjago City since I was fourteen and...let's say I didn't get much wifi."
"We're the Resistance." The master of amber continued. "We're fighting against the Sons of Garmadon." Before I could reply the loud shrill shriek of Ultra Violet rang out.
"We need to get to the base." Green ninja ordered. It was almost too easy.
"We can't just lead her to the base!" Nya hissed to him quietly. I guess they weren't all stupid.
He kept his eyes on the oncoming noise of the gang heading towards us. "We got company!" He yelled.
"Split up!" The water ninja shouted to the other elemental masters. My eyes widened as the bikes rolled their way through the street, ugly grins in their faces. I quickly pressed the screen on my wrist watch, activating my bike. There was a roar as my own motorbike launched itself out of its hiding place, I leaped on, grabbing the closest body and tugging them on behind me. I hit the gas and sped forward, watching as the rest dashed and leaped their way up buildings.
"You're a phaser." A male voice said in my ear. The green ninja. Of course I had picked him up.the plan was going perfectly.
"Since I accidentally phased into the sewers." I replied breezily.
I could almost hear the small smile forming under his mask. I glanced back and got locked into the wise eyes, they were dark pools that seemed to pull me in the more I stared into them.
"I'm Lloyd." He yelled over the sound of engines and screaming.
My own lips curved upwards as I brushed some of my silver hair out of my face and tucking it under my hood. "Ghost."

Our way to the base was blocked as the Sons of Garmadon carried on their chase into the night. Lloyd seemed friendly enough, slipping easily into an friendly acquaintance bond but he wasn't stupid. He kept a careful watch and didn't sleep, as we chatted he chose his words carefully, easily filtering his answers for any of the questions I asked about the Resistance. Even as we joked about absolutely nothing he kept a careful eye on me and our surroundings.
Some way through our time as we bid on top of an apartment building he pulled off his mask. The green hood fell off his head, revealing long locks of messy blonde hair. I pulled off my hood and the scarf over my mouth as well. Shaking out my silver locks from its loose ponytail.
Eventually our conversation ceased as the night drug on. Yells and shrieks from the Sons of Garmadon and the civilians lighting the midnight sky.
"You said you came for family." Lloyd said finally. "Are they alright?"
"Well, they're really friends. My adoptive family abandoned me since I'm an elemental and I don't know where my birth family is." I said easily. "They run the orphanage and I used to hang out with them. But I realized I had become a target for them as Master Chen began trying to scope me out. Trying to use them to lure me in. I left Ninjago City to see if I could make a living elsewhere. I became a spy but unfortunately they too only wished to take advantage of me."
"Sucks when that happens. You try and do something good and you think they want to help you with that. Then suddenly you turn around and there's a knife in your back." Lloyd said softly.
I blinked. Glancing at the boy. "Yeah... exactly like that."
He gave a tense smile, his fingers fiddling with a folded piece of paper. He slipped it back in his pocket before turning his striking gaze to me. "Ghost." He tested the word. "That's not your real name is it?"
"No one names their child Ghost." I gave him an amused smile.
"What is your real name then?" Lloyd questioned.
I hesitated, I had gone by many names. Olivia had been ruined by my parents. Vee had been taken by the leader of The Inevitables. "Via." I said finally. Using the name my best friend used to say so easily. "Call me Via...."
***
"VIA!" Lloyd screamed, betrayal marked on his face. Hate streamed in the name in a way I had never heard before. They say it's a sin to hurt people. They say it's more of a sin to hurt someone who's spirit is already wounded. I guess that makes my own soul tainted. I had gained their trust. I had played them just as Harumi had. Before Neuro had done a read on me the Sons of Garmadon had already know their base location.
"I'm sorry!" I meant it. No attachments. I had told myself. And yet I had let myself bond with Lloyd. "I had to!"
"No." He shook his head, dark eyes stormy. "No you didn't."
Note*****
Hey sorry about the cliffhanger but I've been reading all of your books and some of you are very cruel as well so...consider this a taste of your own painfully beautiful cliff hangers!
