Go out with me?
{jily}{this writing style is a lot different than what I usually do, so bear with me}
Everybody puts something off; whether it be a homework assignment that would take hours if you didn't procrastinate, or your deep-rooted feelings for a certain raven-haired, hazel-eyed Gryffindor.
For Lily Evans, it was the latter. As much as she hated it, she found herself lusting after him every year after third year, which was soon followed by a genuine want to be near to him and connect with him towards the end of sixth year. Some might even call it the beginning of love.
The only problem: by the time Lily Evans realized she had feelings for a certain James Potter, he no longer appeared to be pursuing her with the vigor of his usual proclamations of love. In fact, he appeared to have gotten over her completely. Which was essentially unimaginable.
He was James. She was Lily. He chased her. She avoided him. He proclaimed his love for her. She laughed and hexed him. That's always how it worked, that's how it was always supposed to work. It gave Lily a certain sense of control, knowing that someone truly craved her attention, and she controlled whether they got it or not.
She loved the way his eyes would sparkle when she spared him a second glance, the way he would mess with his hair to get rid of his nerves when she approached him, the way he would unconsciously mimic her actions. It made her feel powerful and wanted. She would never admit that out loud, though.
These feelings - the way his eyes darkened slightly upon seeing her, the way her heartbeat stuttered slightly when she saw him, the way his voice always cracked slightly when he talked to her, even though he was far out of puberty, the way butterflies swam around her stomach - made her act upon pure adrenaline from five cups of coffee and do the unimaginable.

"Oi!" Lily yelled at James in the Great Hall. All eyes turned to her as she approached a nervous looking James, obviously fearing he had done something incorrectly. "Potter!"
"Yes, Lily?" James tried to force more confidence into his voice than he felt, only succeeding a little bit.
"Go out with me?" She questioned with a loud voice as she sat next to him and grabbed a goblet of pumpkin juice. James fell off the bench, Remus choked on his eggs, and Peter just squeaked out a noise of surprise.
Sirius, on the other hand, stood on the Gryffindor table and yelled to Dumbledore at the teachers' table. "YOU OWE ME TEN GALLEONS, DUMBLE!"
"It would appear that I do," he calmly spoke, but his voice still carried across the Great Hall. "Very well." He waved his wand and ten galleons appeared in Sirius' hand. He smirked and nodded to Dumbledore as he sat.
"I still haven't gotten an answer, Potter," Lily singsonged, knowing that it would irk him into speaking.
"I - you - me - wh - um, are you serious?" He stammered, slowly crawling back onto the wooden bench.
"No," she motioned to Sirius. "He's Sirius, I'm Lily." James just glared slightly. "Yes, James, I'm serious."
"Then, yes!" James' smile was one of the biggest Sirius and Remus had ever seen smile. "Absolutely."

Lily Evans was totally and irrevocably in love with James Potter. Which, in itself, was no problem as James Potter was also totally and irrevocably in love with Lily Evans.

Okay, so, like I said: a lot different than my usual work, but I wanted to experiment. What do y'all think? And please, be brutally honest.
TILL LATER
