LAMP (disclaimer THIS IS LONG! LIKE REALLY LONG, OVER 3,00 WORDS LONG AND I STRUGGLED FOR SO LONG! please like it cus i hate it XD also i know this is a day late i am sorry! it was difficult to write this AU with soo many people involved.)

Roman didn't think he could be even gayer, he knew he liked his friends to some extent. But when he started feeling a strange tickle in his lungs that made him want to cough, he knew it was more than just platonic liking.

When he felt something catch in the back of his throat making him struggle to breathe as he coughed into his had at his desk until he felt three delicate petals were in his hand and the tickling had ebbed away just a little, roman looked at the rose petals in his hand that he had coughed up they were a deep royal purple,

Roman had accidentally fallen in love with Virgil.

Virgil wasn't expecting to have a weird feeling in his gut, sure he had it all the time because anxiety is a bitch, but this was different it felt like something was just tickling his lungs in a weird sensation he despised, it was only a few days later did he find out why, he began to feel a spontaneous coughing fit rise in him while out with logan, Patton and roman for lunch where excused himself and went outside to cough without causing a scene he coughs into his elbow as he feels something rises and removes itself in the fit,

Once the onslaught of coughing died down and the need to cough fell away and the crazy tickle turned into an annoying little reminder something was there, he looked at his sleeve seeing a single perfect petal the colour of a warm blue sky that emitted fun times at a beach, Virgil groaned leaning on the rough brick wall,

"God damn it, Virgil, you had one job!"

He considered the possibility of actually asking Patton and he realised that Patton may be forgiving if he told him, either letting him down easily or even possibly reciprocating his feelings- which would be the last thing he would have expected from Patton since he sure that Pat liked Logan. he sighed scrunching the flower petal up and tossing it aside from going back inside.

The petals began to get worse for Roman to the point of actual flower buds and blooming flowers began to be coughed up sometimes bringing up blood, it was getting more and more difficult to hide and logan was getting suspicious of him, so when roman had such severe coughing fit in the living room while logan was in the kitchen getting himself a drink getting back in time to see roman coughing up a fully bloomed royal purple rose and Roman's coughing ceased logan looked at the rose then at roman in concern, "did you just cough up a rose? please tell me, you are not eating flowers roman."

Roman eyes widened and reacted instantly, "NO! god no! if I was eating flowers. why the hell would I be coughing up a near-perfect bloomed rose logan!" loggan sighed in that relief but soon concern came back, "why are you coughing up purple roses then?" roman sighed taking the cup from logan without even thinking and took a drink and gave it back "I have hanahaki logan" logan glanced at the cup of water he had then placed it on the coffee table, "may I ask what hanahaki is?" roman looked at the flower then put it in his pocket, "google it, nerd, it's not that difficult. I won't be able to explain it right for you"

Logan nods taking out his phone and typing in the search bar and clicking onto urban dictionary. "The Hanahaki Disease is an illness born from unrequited love, where the patient's throat will fill up with a flower, they will then proceed to throw, and cough up the petals, -sometimes even the flowers. One of the only ways for the disease to 'disappear' is if, the said person returns the feeling -it can't be resolved with friendship, it has to be genuine feelings of love. The infection can also be removed through surgery, though the feelings disappear along with the petals. If they choose neither options, or the feeling is not returned in time, then the patient's lungs will fill up with flowers, and will eventually suffocate." logan finished reading the paragraph explaining roman's illness then took a breath processing this information.

"so let me get this straight-" "good luck with that-" roman muttered amused by his jump in, logan looked at him less than amused, "you have unrequited love with someone, and the only for these flowers to be removed is either a surgery or through confessing your love and having it reciprocated by said person and if it is not reciprocated you will suffocate due to the flowers currently in your lungs." Roman nods awkwardly, "yup that about sums it up, I updated my will. so Patton gets all of my Disney movies you get all of my playbooks and Virgil gets my brothers Grimm stories everything else is going to a charity Remus gets nothing" logan sighs rubbing his temple, "why don't you just tell them then your all 'extra' and romantic who wouldn't want to date you?" roman scoffed

"Thanks for the compliment but I am one hundred per cent sure Virgil does not like me like that" at the name logan froze, "Virgil? the flowers are purple because of Virgil?" roman nods hanging his head in shame, "we barely get along normally what makes you think he would like me like that." logan fixed his glasses, "well, some friendships and eventual relationships do start with a sort rivalry which gives them a thing in common and can blossom emotions for each other and so forth. maybe that is what occurred in this situation"  roman smirked at logans accidental pun.

"Why don't we organise a movie night again and you can tell Virgil then? we can invite both him and Patton to make it less obvious to him, Patton and I will go get pizza for dinner and you can tell him then" roman thinks it all to himself the plan and the only thing that could be the downfall, "Logan this plan is almost sound, except for one thing. Virgil needs to reciprocate my feelings. and I know he doesn't."

logan sighs picking his phone up from the coffee table "ok, do you want me to get coffee with him? I can get coffee tomorrow and assist with debunking that statement." already typing a message to Virgil sending and within moments he gets a message back agreeing to get coffee and lunch, the plan for logan to find out about Virgil's feeling was beginning.

Virgil had received the message sitting in his room staring at a brand new deep crimson red flower as well as the perfect sky blue he had hated that he had coughed up both, he remained zoned out deep in thought as he processed his options with Patton's downstairs right now cooking dinner for the two, it would be so easy right now to tell him and just let it out into the air- "Virgil! I've made dinner if you'd like some!" Virgil flinched at the door knock crushing the flower in his hand "oh shit pat! you scared me, ok I'll be down in a second" he pockets his phone and sighs getting to the door and going to the kitchen, Patton was scrolling through what he could tell were extremely fluffy videos of dogs and kittens chasing and cuddling each other, "so Patton what'd you get up to today?" he looks up at Virgil with one of those bright smiles, "oh I didn't do much today, went for a walk to the park and that's about it. How about you Virge?"

Virgil sits across from Patton clearing his throat feeling a flower wanting to come up, "I didn't do anything, just- Tumblr" Patton hummed to the end of the discussion and went back to his phone and chicken fried rice, Virgil remained silent knowing a way to keep the conversation going, "do you like anyone at the moment, Patton?" Patton stopped his silent chewing and looked at Virgil who was trying not to run up into his room screaming in a fit of panic.

He swallowed his food "where did that question come from, Virge?"  Virgil knew that this was a dead give away for his feelings so no going back now, "well it's just- I have some feelings for you which I think are more than just platonic and I was wanting to know if you would like me back" Patton seemed to relax and smile at Virgil softly, "Virgil, you can relax, I like you too"

Virgil looked at him in shock, "but, I thought you liked logan" Patton giggled taking virgils "your so silly Virgil! I'm polyromantic if I'm being honest I like Logan, you and Roman! I hope that doesn't change anything" Virgil sighed feeling a little bit of freedom in his lungs from the older blue roses going away, "no that's fine, I think I like roman too" Patton smiles standing and began jumping up and down excitedly flapping his hands stimming,

"Should we tell them? when are we going to tell them?" Virgil panicked seeing as that he hadn't even told. Patton about. the fact that he confessed all because of damn flowers and that he didn't want to be rejected or he would most likely die if roman didn't reciprocate his own feelings "logans asked for me to go to lunch an get coffee tomorrow I could ask and see if he'd be willing to have like a movie night or something?" Virgil offered Patton nodded along, maybe you can tell roman and I can tell logan? he might bee the most difficult to confess to"

Virgil nods silently thinking, "so wait are we like- dating or are we sorta just working things through?" Patton shrugs "well I like you virge, and have for a while if you want we can take things slow if you need, but id be fine with us being an item, but it's up to you virge" Virgil hums in thought, "well, I've known you since we were like- 12 so I guess it's fine for us to just skip all of that and just use the boyfriend label right?"

Patton nods "can I hug you virge?" Virgil smirks "sure pat, c'mere" Patton rushes into Virgil open arms excited as Virgil tried to take all of Patton on the dining table seat, "we could move to the lounge and watch the office while eating dinner and cuddle pat, I think it might be more comfortable for the both of us" Patton nods and they move to living room pulling up Netflix and Patton cuddled in Virgil while watching the office and eating chicken fried rice.

Virgil noticed for the first time how odd it was only having just himself and Patton in the lounge and watching the tv. maybe he like roman more. then he thought he did.

Lunch and coffee were calm for the most part aside from the need to clear his lung from flowers twice which made logan get curious, "Virgil are you feeling satisfactory?" he questions with a curiously raised eyebrow, Virgil nods taking a sip of his americano, as bitter dark as his soul "yeah, never better why?" logan takes a bite out of his remain roast veg salad, "well I know someone whos having a very similar issue to you with the coughing, maybe you should talk to him about it" Virgil looked up at logan who seemed to be smirking into the roasted potato he was going to eat.

"Who is it may I ask?" logan nods finishing his bite "roman actually, I believe it because of you as well" a light just flipped on in Virgil's head and as he realised what logan was implying, "roman has hanahaki?" logan nods putting the fork down, "yes, I'm assuming you do too, is it feelings for roman?" Virgil awkwardly nodded "both Patton and roman actually" logan hesitated to hear the statement "two? you can have more than one?" Virgil nodded "I confessed to Patton last night and I guess i found out we're both poly, i- I should tell roman soon or we both could get hurt"

Logan slowly nods in thought "roman and I made a plan to have you and Patton over for movie night and Patton will go with me to get dinner, there you two can confess and have everything go smoothly" Virgil nodded "pat and I made the same agreement to confess to you two, me to roman and him to you... do you like Patton? I'm asking just in case I should warn him for heartbreak or not" Logan's breath catches in his throat and clears it, "I must assure you, Virgil, I reciprocate those emotions to both Patton and roman and even you to an extent Virgil" Virgil relaxed finally going back to eating his hot chips and fish, "ok so Saturday I think is the earliest we can do, don't tell roman that Patton and I are together, I don't know if he's ok with the thought of being a part of a poly relationship"

Logan nods "whatever you see is necessary Virgil" Virgil sighs "thanks lo, I have a feeling were Going to one big relationship by the end of Saturday night." Logan gave a small smile to Virgil who did the same, "I must agree that it can only go positively"

Saturday arrived and roman knew that Virgil reciprocated those feelings which no longer scared him, but now- he has another issue that came in flower forms, dark blue the shade of a clear night sky, if you imagined it could have stars littered across the petals, and not just that, but a sky blue that looked like a fun day at the beach roman stared at the blooming flowers in frustration "what does this mean? I just like logan AND Patton now too? How is that possible? I'm still coughing up the purple ones too.." he google serched and got the same answer each time, "i'm poly. This doesnnt upset me at all but... would virgil be ok wuth that? Logan only just tolerates me he would not want to be with me romantically.. this is how i die- I'm going to die of heart break and suffocattion due to flowers!" He mutters to himself locked in his room, virgil and patton are arriving soon and he needed to get himself in the right mindset to talk to virgil.

He threw the blue flower in the bin next to his desk with a sigh dressing normally and went downstairs to help logan clean up before the two arrive in 10 minutes.

"Are you feeling satisfactory roman?" Roman hums wiping the counter down "yeah- i just learned something new about myself today is all" logan takes a sip of his coffee looking up from his book, "may i ask what it is?" Roman considers it then concedes "I've learned I'm poly, I'm coughing up another two colours now" logan chokes on his coffee "what- co-col-ours!? " he said between cough trying to remove the coffee from his lungs, rroman ran over to help, "dark and light blue logan, its dark blue and light blue."

Once logan could actually make formable sentences it was too late for him to respond to roman statement since patton and virgil were knocking on the front door, logan quickly excused himself to change shirts and roman answered the door welcoming patton and virgil inside their shared apartment bringing them into the lounge and setting up the first movie expecting this movie night to become an all nighter.

"Logan! hey how are you tonight?" logan had an new polo on and less panicked, only mildly glancing at roman who was silently scrolling through disney+ virgil was loking at roman worried, "im am satisfactory this evening, how are you?" patton beams "i'm great! im watcing movies with my favourite people!" he smiles softly at patton and everyone agrees on moana for the first movie, part way through roman excused himself to the bathroom and came back looking paler, logan noticed and instantly made a descision, "its. getting late, Patton, would you like to go order dinner with me?" patton nods quickly looking at virgil "sure id love to, you two behave please?" roman smirks waving the order aside, "dont worry padre, we'll only attack eachother with the butter knives tonight"

Patton rolls his eyes playfully at the remark and virgil just remained silent watching the movie still, they leave closing the door behined them and virgil instantly looked at roman. "you have hanahaki, don't you?" romans eyes widened "wha- how?!" virgil diddnt respond for a minute, "i like you too" roman was speechless until he felt a small feeling in his chest, a lack of pressure but it was still there, "thanks but im still going to die" virgils eyes widened moving closer to roman, "what? why? who else? when?"

Roman looked at his feet, "patton and logan," virgil took a moment to process it then in a fit of laughs he hugged roman, "oh my god! you had me worried there for a seccond! thats such a relief!" roman was confused "what- why are you so happy? i ever see you this happy, its actually mildly concerning do i need to take you to a emo doctor?" virgil keeps laughing "no, although this hurts my face! im so happy your poly! you have no idea!"

Roman blushed at the statement, "why are you- wait you are too?" virgil nods "yes! so is patton andd logan, i wanted to confess to you but i didn't know how to say that i was dating patton already" roman smiled managing to free himself from the emos embrace, "so..." "patton and logan like you too, theyre talking to eachother right now about it, and patton doesnt know of either yours or my own hanahaki"

They looked at eachother silently for a minute once the laughing died down, moana playing the reprise of how far i'll go in the background, "your not dieing anytime soon mister." virgil says smirking Roman chuckled hugging and pulling him onto his lap, "is this ok?" virgil nods getting comfortable.

Patton and logan arrived with three boxes of pizza, and patton looked even more over joyed than usual especially when he say virgil and roman cuddled together "you told him?" patton asked annd roman laughs "yeah, he told me, i like you too patton"
patton excitedly ran to the two and flopped onto the two holding tightly to them, logan watched in amusement "i love you all so much! logan come here!" patton says happily gesturing to one remaining away from the pile of cuddles and affection.

He sighed and came over sitting next to roman who wrapped an arm around the other who did a head tilt to lean it on romans shoulder "i like you roman" logan whispered and roman smiled, knowinng this was implied to cure him, i like you too logan, now let eat some pizza and watch some big hero six huh?" logan smiled softly and nodded "not yet though... the pizza ned to erm... cool down." logan lies not wanting anyone to move from their place.

They ate then talked about the barriers in the relationship and eventually fell asleep on the couch cuddling into eachother.
