Day 3-

Analogical

AU- coffee shop.

Logan was a bit of nerd according to his friend Roman. He read lots of books and focused on his studies, but logan always ignored his overdramatic roommate every time he said it.

Why?

Because he enjoyed it, reading a book whether it was fictional or nonfiction he didn't care, if he learned about the functions of the world he lived In or if he got taken to some other world with some new ways or ideas to help look at the world he lived in a brand new perspective, he welcomed it, good endings bad endings, unprompted ending which made him want more, he craved the excitement that was held in new books and old books.

So this is why he was outside early one morning to go to a small cafe while it was slowly snowing and the sun was barely up in the sky if the clouds allowed them to show through, as to not wake his sleeping roommate from his quote on quote "beauty rest" it's not working from what Logan can tell.

He walked into the just-opened cafe and went to the counter, he was greeted by an exhausted teen with lavender and black hair and had makeup on under their eyes making him look something like a racoon, they seemed to be roughly around the same age as him if he were to guess "hey if your looking for anything to eat yet Emile hasn't finished making anything and the coffee machine has just been turned on so if you want a coffee you'll need to wait a couple of minutes for it to heat up."

Logan nods "that's satisfactory, would I be able to preorder and pay for my drink?" The other person nodded "sure what you want to get?" Logan looked at the menu but already knew what he wanted "can I please get a long black? No sugars or creamers" the other smirked, "didn't think I'd find another person to drink that this early in the morning to it'll be done in a bit, I'm assuming it's to have here?" It was Logan's turn to nod now and pay for the drink.

After he played he went to a corner the person saying he will be the first for a while in a few hours so he didn't need a number, the heater was nearby where he sat and he shuffled items in his book bag getting a large book out of his bag, less than ten minutes later he heard the coffee machine going and they came over with his drink, "I've read that book before, the ending is a bit underwhelming compared to the other books in its series though" the barista says putting logans beverage on the table in front of him, Logan looks up frowning in confusion, "what do you mean? This book has been rather fascinating from what I've read so far"

The man looks at the door knowing that no one would be visiting for a few hours yet, "what I mean is the book goes all well and good three-quarters of the way in then the ending feels like it's falling apart, I lost interest but finished it. And the ending is sorta... stereotypical for a book like this would"

Logan frowns looking at the cover and blur at the back, "really? I would never have guessed... I'm Logan, by the way, he/him" he says holding his hand out for the other to shake, they smile through their awkwardness and eyeshadow "Virgil. ditto"

Logan went to the cafe every day in the mornings bringing a book to discuss with Virgil or recommend. Who seemed to welcome the company early in the morning when Virgil would most likely be wishing he was able to sleep in the cozy sheets of his bed instead of fueling an addiction of caffeine, like one man who comes almost every third hour to get a refill of his iced coffee or get his 'pumpkin spice seasonal depression' as the man called it according to Virgil when he spoke about some of the customers he's had.

Virgil had grown to enjoy logans silent company, sure he would talk sometimes but also he didn't see the need to fill in the silence too often with space-filling conversation like Emile or his younger brother Patton did, even that overdramatic flirt Roman who was in his theatre class.

Virgil began thanks to the fact logan came in that first cold morning to read, or else he might not have a quiet friend to talk about books and other 'nerd' type things when everyone else shunned them for their hobbies and past time activities, creating a small book club for just the two of them.

Little did he know Logan was the same.
