Day 2-
Logicality
Au-mermaid/fisherman.
Logan was a fisherman, he fished every morning sold it at the market in the afternoon made a profit then repeated the following, his prices were fair and he was always cautious of what he caught, whether they were worth selling or if they were too small and needed more time, he cared for the place he used to provide for his own life, so when he and a friend went for a walk along the beach one day he had off they were visiting from the city and wanted to go for a walk since the beach is too far usually to go to on a normal daily basis.
"have you ever seen anything in the water that seems like- odd? or is it just... water and fish?" Remus asked curiously tossing a stone into the water carelessly, Logan frowned in thought, "no I do not believe so, "what do you think I would see?" Remus shrugs "Roman says there are mermaids around this way but I think sirens are cooler, who knows there could be both or the loch ness monster! you are taking their food after all" Logan paused deep in thought.
"Remus, they are mythical magical creatures that do not exist in this plane of existence, I have not seen any of those three things because the loch ness monster does not live in the ocean, they have a lake dedicated to their fake sightings in Scotland and as I said before sirens and mermaids do not exist." Remus huffed rolling his eyes throwing another stone into the water with made a soft plop "yeah, that's what they want you to think! lo! they hide, so we can't hurt them, there have been sightings of beings with fishlike tails all over here saving people from drownings and my knowledge, mermaids like to destroy ships and are pretty much worse than sirens... it. glad. they haven't gone after you lo" he pats Logans' shoulder who is still confused.
"Remus. they. do. not. exist I've said this already, they're a part of Greek mythology, MYTH! and have not been discovered by humankind, of course, they haven't gotten to me because they can't!" Remus walks away from Logan seeing that he needs to cool off from their discussion, Logan sighs looking out towards the sea, and smiled shaking his head-turning while walking back to the docks, he needed a break from Remus and the only place where he can get that peace is his boat.
The ocean was calm and unpredictable which most people hated but to Logan, it added a sense of safety and security to it, he took in a deep breath of the cold salty air and exhaled, the wind ran through his hair the boat skimmed across the water to nowhere except away from the beach, away from the docks and away from stupid friends who don't know the difference from fiction and fact.
Getting further away from the shore he wasn't out of his depth just yet, it only got to different waters once he passed a grotto that his parents took him to when he was much younger, he smiled fondly at the memories of him and his parents spending the day there swimming, eating lunches and sadly going home at the end of the day, falling asleep in his mothers' arms as they got home and the beautiful song she sang to him as he drifted like a tide to sleep.
He hummed the melody softly to himself, as he passed it, beyond there was uncharted territory, he remained focused on what he was doing, the water got slightly choppy, a few minutes later his humming dies away and the sound of the ocean filled the silence until there was a hum somewhere else that echoed in Logan's head, it was beautiful, it was singing the song perfectly he looked around to see where the music was coming from where his eyes locked on someone sitting on some rocks, pale blue tail visible dipping into the water now and then with the waves, they had short curly hair that moved with the wind, they were heavily tanned from being exposed to the sun, Logan had to admit that the urge to approach the being was strong but he held back and turned off the motor and listened to them sing.
once the being stopped singing Logan looked towards them catching them as they dove into the water gracefully, he searched the water skimming it with his eyes to find the being, "hello! who are you?" Logan jumped away from the voice-hearing from behind himself, the creature up close had stunning blue eyes, the colour of the sea on a beautiful summers day that enraptured Logan entirely, "sorry! I didn't mean to scare you! it's just I've never seen you around here before" they explain quickly panicked by Logan's reaction.
Logan stood cautiously, "what... i- my name is Logan..." he says awkwardly and their panic dissipated instantly, a smile gracing their tanned freckled face showing two dimples, "nice to meet you, Logan, I'm Patton, what brings this far away from the town?" Logan glanced around as Patton gestured towards the direction of the seaside town, "I wanted to have a break from people, one of my friends was very persistent on a topic they seemed to be surprisingly correct on" he managed to say.
Patton giggled "let me guess, it was about mermaids and sirens?" Logan nodded, still in disbelief. "you don't have to worry about the sirens doing the ship lureing thing, they're a little further away from that way and us merpeople don't like eating humans, fish is an ok substitute, either way, it still feels like cannibalism" Patton says awkwardly but shrugs it off quickly.
Logan blinks at the chatty merperson, "do- do you want to go to the rock so you don't have to lean on my boat and we can... talk? face to face without this height difference?" Patton's face lights up and he nods "yes please! I'd love to get to know more about life offshore!"
Patton asked many questions about the surface and how life is like to places he cannot reach which Logan was honest and said that everything costs and is most definitely not as perfect as the other was dreaming of, Patton seemed upset by how logan said it but after explaining why he said it that way was because being forward and honest is better than being indirect and hurting someone, which Patton seemed to agree, Patton talked about life as a merperson and how it seemed crazily different to human life,
when the sun began to set only then did Logan realise how long he had been with Patton, time seemed to have blurred for them as they talked, "I need to go soon Patton, Remus is waiting for me" Patton looked upset by the statement but took Logan's hand, "can we watch the sunset though? it's beautiful with the company, please?"
seeing those blue eyes logan couldn't refuse, either Patton mastered the puppy dog eyes or Logan was just weak to Patton he wouldn't know, as the pinks reds and blues danced across the sky and painted the sea in a form of hypnotism ass Patton leaned his head on logans shoulder with a soft sigh, the stars began to glisten in the dark velvet blue sky.
"can you visit me again? I've enjoyed my time with you" Patton gently whispers, Logan smiles tilting his head onto Patton's,
"I do believe I can arrange that."
