Fallin' All In Sleep (Dad!Shawn)
A high-pitched cry woke you from your light sleep, Shawn's grip tightening around your middle. He released a deep groan into your ear, patting your arm before sitting up and pushing the covers off of his heavy body.
"I'll get her, babe," he mumbled, racing into the nursery to comfort your newborn. You propped the pillows up behind you and flicked the light on, awaiting your husband's arrival with your precious baby.
"Gonna go see mom," you heard from the hallway in Shawn's groggy voice laced with sleep. Your stomach twisted at being called 'mom' as everything was so new.
Your baby's whimpers overpowered the rest of his sentence as she began crying louder, her face flushed from the stress of her sobs.
"Here," you spoke, holding your arms out to take her from Shawn. He crawled into bed beside you, handing over your baby girl and beginning to draw small circles on your forearm as you rubbed her back.
She shook as he cried louder, completely ignoring your intense hushes and comforting pats on her back.
"Shawn, it's not gonna work," you spoke quietly, resting your head on your husband's shoulder as he held a finger up, signalling for you to wait.
He squirmed out of your grip, hopping out of bed and pulling his phone from it's charger.
"Babe, watch this," he smiled, connecting it to the speaker on the night stand.
"What are you doing, babe?" you asked, annoyed that he got up and wouldn't explain himself.
"Shh, babe, just wait," he giggled.
You watched him intently, a headache forming from the sounds of your baby's cries as the opening notes of Fallin' All In You filled the room.
Shawn leaned over toward you, peeling the covers back once again to crawl back into bed.
"C'mon, my turn," he spoke, pulling your baby onto his chest and rubbing her small back with his massive hand. As the song reached its chorus, she stopped crying immediately. A goofy grin was stretched across Shawn's face as he beamed at you, giggling as your jaw dropped.
"Shawn, what the fuck?" you whispered, snuggling up to his left arm.
"Discovered it a few days ago, couldn't think of anything else to do," he laughed, resting his head atop of yours.
"That's insane," you laughed, reaching out to slip your finger in your baby's hand.
"You know you're good when babies like your sound," he chuckled, causing you to roll your eyes in response.
"Yes, we get it, you're amazing," you mocked, planting a wet kiss on his bicep with a smile.
"Stop," he laughed, nuzzling the top of your head with his chin. "Think she can go back down now?"
"Probably, why?" you asked, lifting your head to meet his gaze.
He smirked in response, sitting up and carefully carrying your daughter back to her nursery, excited to lose some sleep for other reasons.
