Drinking Alone
It had been a long night. Shawn got home a few days earlier from tour, which had really taken a toll on Y/N. Unable to put her through this anymore, Shawn thought it would be best to put the relationship of hold. Maybe for a few months, maybe forever. He loved her but couldn't stand hurting her, which is why he told her not to be a fool and wait on him. She'd find a man who'd stand by her side and actually be there, and that man wasn't him.
She can't believe what just happened. Shawn came over here to end things, blaming it on himself, and then left. Her whole world came crashing down. It was a classic "it's not me, it's you."
It's not even like they had a fight. He literally broke up with her because she loved him too much, which is so fucked. Normally, wouldn't that bring couples closer? Knowing they're so in love? Apparently not.
She had purchased a nice bottle of wine to share with him when he got back, but hadn't gotten around to it. Deciding that was never gonna happen, she downed it and went scrummaging in her liquor cabinet to keep her feelings numb. Finding a small bottle of Crown Royal, she cracked it open and wandered into the bathroom, stumbling over her own feet.
God, she looked like hell. Eyes swollen, cheeks puffy and red, hair strands falling out of her low bun and sticking to her face.
What a dumbass. He seriously thought breaking things off would help her? It's not that easy. He's a fucking rockstar. He's everywhere. You knew she'd never be able to move on, and she hated Shawn for it.
But she didn't hate him. She loved him. And she had to tell him.
She fuzzily put on one of his hoodies and ordered an Uber to his building.
He sat in his condo, head in his hands, unsure of what he had just done. Was it a mistake? Was it for the best? He loved her. God, he loved her so much. So much that he couldn't handle hurting her anymore.
Standing up, he grabbed his keys, deciding he needed to go for a drive to cool off.
Just as he opened the door, she stumbled through it, falling completely onto his chest.
"Y/N, what are you doing here?"
Clearly intoxicated, she began slurring.
"Fuck you, Shawn. I love you and I would have done anything for you. What's your, wha-, what's your problem? How could you just, you just, leave me like that?" she managed to blurt out.
"Sweetie, I-I, no, it's not like that." Shawn sighed, grabbing her hands in his.
Frustrated and livid, she yanked her hands away, turned on her heel, and stumbled out the door and into the hallway.
He ran after her, jumping in front of her and grabbing her shoulders.
"No, you can't go. Not like this. Please stay. We can talk about this tomorrow." he said, his heart breaking at the sight of the pain in her eyes.
"No Shawn, I gotta go. I, uh, yeah. I have to leave now."
"Nope, you're not going. You love me and I love you and you're drunk and not going anywhere." he said, smiling a bit, regretting his decision to end things.
"No Shawn, you don't love me. And I don't love you. We're not together." she protested, trying to push past him.
"Then why are you wearing my sweater, baby?" he asked, grinning.
He had her there. The tears hit her hard and she fell into his arms, hugging him tight. He picked her up, carrying her into his condo and pulling her into bed with him. There's no way he was ending things with this one. She was just too precious.
