As I leaned in to kiss Kat, all of the sudden we hear Shea yell.

"No!"

Colby grabbed me and pulled me backwards, causing me to jump.

"Colby? What was that for?"

He pointed towards the other two as Shea gave Colby a thumbs up.

Then, out if no where, Shea leans down and kisses Kat.

Thing is, she was confused at first, but then she kissed back once she figured out what was happening.

They used tongue and everything.

And I'm not gonna lie, it was pretty hot.

I think everyone thought it was except Reggie and the girls, even though Devyn did seem a little jealous.

Assuming Corey didn't notice, I continued watching.

Shea slid her hands up Kat's shirt and pulled it off as Kat did the same to hers.

"I'm out."

Is all I heard from Tara before she walked out of the room.

Everyone agreed and did the same, so we all headed downstairs, leaving Kat and Shea to their... session.

"Jeez. Everyone's turning into love birds."

Corey said, running his hand across his braids.

Colby nudged my arm, knocking me out of the room in the process since I was right beside the doorway.

"Should we invite Elton to fluster up Corey?"

He asked, looking at his phone.

I laughed and agreed to his idea.

Colby hurried up and dialed in the number before putting the phone against his ear.

"Hello?"

We tried not to laugh as Elton picked up the phone.

"Hey, this is Colby, Reggie's friend."

He went silent as Colby introduced himself.

"Okay, what's up?"

I chuckled a little bit before leaving and telling the rest of the group except Corey.

"Wait. Are you really?"

Reggie asked, looking worried.

"Yeah. What's wrong?"

"Well, he's my ex and all and Aaron and I..."

Aaron grabbed his hand, squeezing it tightly.

"You'll be okay. I'm here and we're just doing it to mess with Corey, okay?"

Reggie seemed to relax a little bit as he wrapped his arms around Aaron.

"Okay."

Everyone else was good with it, so it worked out really well.

I went to walk back to Colby before Tara and Jake stopped me.

"Sam. Hold up."

Tara said, grabbing my arm then letting go once I turned around.

"Huh?"

"Hey, We have an idea."

"You mean you have an idea."

Jake interrupted, trying to walk away but got elbowed by Tara instead.

"Okay... What's the idea?"

Tara turned to Jake and giggled as he shook his head at her.

"We could call our friend, Xepher."

"Why?"

She laughed more before Jake spoke up.

"Tara thinks that Devyn still likes her even though she's dating Corey and it would be really funny since we're already messing with him."

"Wait, hold up. I thought she likes Corey?"

"She probably does but likes Xepher."

I nodded.

As I thought for a moment, I figured trying it would work.

"Okay, but if she hates me after this, I'm killing both of you."

Jake put his arms up defensively before turning around and going back into the kitchen.

I chuckled as I headed to the living room where Colby was.

"Okay, bye."

As he came into my view, he finished hanging up the phone.

"Hey, Colbs. The Jake and Tara had a great idea."

He looked at me as he waited for me to continue what I was saying.

"They said we should call Xepher and ask if she could come so we could mess with Devyn."

Colby's face lit up.

"Okay! It's been awhile since I've seen her and I miss her, so great!"

I laughed, finally realizing who she was.

"Wasn't she in our group at one time?"

"Yeah. Her, Griffin, Mike, Aryia, and Kevin, but they all went their separate ways." (If you know that song, I love you 😂)

"Oh, yeah. I miss them."

I frowned as Colby nodded.

"Hold on. I think I still have their numbers."

I took out my phone, finding all of their contacts.

"I do. Okay, I'll call them all while you're on the phone with Xepher."

He nodded again, so I left the room and went outside so I could hear the phone.

I called them all on one video call since we all had Instagram. (you can do that)

"Hey!"

They all said, getting into small talk.

"Hey. I was just calling to ask if you guys still live in Wichita or if you're near here."

"Well, I'm not that far away. Mike, Kevin, and I live in Arkansas City, so it's not too far. Why?"

Aryia said, looking confused.

"Well, we're having a New Years party at Colby's new mansion."

"Wait. Colby's back? When did he come?"

They all yelled, scaring me for a moment.

"Yeah. He just came back not too long ago. Maybe around 6 months."

"And you're just now calling us?"

Griffin asked, seeming somewhat offended.

"Yeah. I'm sorry about that. But anyways, are you guys able to come?"

"Sure."

They all agreed.

"It'll take us an hour, but we'll be there."

"Okay. I got to go. Talk to you guys when you get here. Bye."

As they said their goodbyes, I ended the call.

I sent all of them the directions immediately and head back to where Colby was.

"They all answered and are able to come."

He jumped up as his eyes widened.

"Okay, so we'll have to decorate everything at around 6. What time is it?"

I looked at my watch, seeing it read exactly 3.

"It's 3 o'clock."

He nodded and walked back into the kitchen with everyone else, so I followed.

I pulled Jake and Tara to the side and told them everything.

They high-fived each other than me and went back.

Then, I pulled everyone else except Devyn and Corey out and told them everything.

We then went back to whatever we were doing beforehand.

After about an hour and a half, I heard a knock on the door.

I went to the door and opened it, revealing Aryia, Mike and Kevin.

"Hey, guys. Come on in."

We shared our hugs before walking into the kitchen where everyone else was.

Jake looked over and saw them, jaw and eyes dropping.

"Mike! Kev! Aryia!"

He ran to them and hug them all individually right before Colby came running in.

After possibly squeezing the life out of Mike, Colby ran over and jumped at Aryia, making him catch him bridal style.

They all laughed as Colby almost killed everyone.

Last, he hugged Kevin normally, but lifted him up instead.

Once everyone else introduced themselves, we went to the living room and played a game of Rocket League.

I was on Colby's and Jake's team, Kevin, Mike, and Aryia on another, Corey, Aaron and Reggie on the third team, and everyone else just watched.

Corey's team obviously won with all the gamers on the team.

Once the round ended, I heard another knock on the door.

Colby went to get up, but I stopped him.

"I got it."

I stood up and walked into the hallway, opening the door.

"Hey, Xepher. Griffin."

Xepher smiled and hugged me, walking into the mansion.

Griffin did too and instantly walked over to the guys.

I then shut the door, watching everyone as they continued staring at the television.

"Um..."

Xepher cleared her throat, laughing as everyone looked at her then back to the screen then to her once again.

"Xepher!"

Colby yelled, running over and hugging her.

She laughed more as I chuckled at Colby's excitement.

"Griffin!"

Colby said, running over and tackling him in a hug.

He just laughed, hugging back.

After Colby finally got up, we all walked over to the group.

They didn't even realize we were there until Xepher cleared her throat.

Then Jake did the exact same thing right before everyone hugged normally or just introduced themselves.

Except Devyn.

All she did was stare at Xepher, frozen until she saw her look at her then she ran to the bathroom.

Colby looked at me, worried, but I just walked to the bathroom.

When I reached the shut door that appeared to be locked, I knocked.

"Devyn? Are you okay?"

I heard a quieting sob as an answer and all I could do was just stand there.

"Oh, Dev. I'm so sorr-"

"Why did you invite them?"

She interrupted, making the guilt already in chest spread.

"I don't know. I thought they would like to see Colby since he's back, I-"

"You what?"

I sighed, telling her about the whole plan.

"W-why would you do that?"

"I don't know why. It was all Tara's idea and I'm so sorry."

I heard her sigh.

"Can you go away? Please?"

I felt my heart sink, but I agreed anyway.

"Okay. I'm sorry."

She didn't answer, but continued crying instead.

I walked back over to the group and sat down on the couch and put my head in my hands, running them through my hair.

"Is she okay?"

Corey and Colby asked at the exact same time.

"I don't know. She locked the door and started crying."

"Why did she do that?"

Corey asked, not getting the hint from earlier.

I sighed again, looking at Colby for help, but got a shrug instead.

At that point, I told him the whole story.

He just sat there, somewhat calm which scared the shit out of me.

I didn't know Corey like Colby did, but when I looked at Colbs he was terrified.

"Are you okay?"

I mouthed, but he just looked at me with wide eyes.

"You did what?!"

Corey half-yelled, getting up and walking up to where I was as he cornered me.

He got into my face, breaths warming up my cheeks.

"Now, why would you do that?"

He asked, anger filling his face.

All I could do was sit there.

I saw him lift his hand up, forming it in a fist before throwing it towards my face.

Everyone started yelling as it hit me square in the jaw, making my eyes water as I sat there holding my now sore jaw.

"Corey!" I heard Colby yell before I heard a thud.

I took a quick peek towards the floor to see Colby laying there before another fist hit my face.

Every single person in the room was trying to get Corey off of me, but he goes swatted him away like a fly.

At least, until I heard another knock on the door.

Corey looked away from me, not paying attention and gave me the perfect opportunity to push him off of me.

I did so and when he hit the other end of the couch, he looked at me blankly.

"Jeez, Sam. What happened to your face? And why does everyone look scared?"

He asked, looking at our group.

"You happened, asshole. And you punched him twice in the face, once in the cheek bone, one in the jaw. Though he may have deserved it, that's not the point. Everyone tried to pull you off of him, but all you did was push them away like they were nothing."

Jake interrupted since I couldn't.

He looked at the floor and frowned, fidgeting with his fingers.

"I'm so sorry, Sam. I saw Devyn sad and I don't know. I see red when I get mad and I basically black out."

I nodded as my jaw hurt.

Catching me by surprise, Corey reached over and hugged me.

I hugged back of course, but I was still in shock.

"You should go talk to Devyn."

Colby said to Corey, walking over and sitting by me.

He nodded and went off to the bathroom right before another knock.

Shit.

I thought, looking at Colby as he furrowed his eyebrows.

He got up and walked over to the door, opening it.

There he was, Elton, Reggie's old boyfriend, aka Corey's ex/possibly current crush.

"Hey, Elton. No time long see."

Jake said as he walked over to the bearded man.

"Hi, Jake."

They shook hands and shared a hug.

Elton walked over to everyone and introduced himself to the ones who didn't know him, then hugged us.

"So, what's happening?"

Colby told him the whole story and embarrassed him a little bit with the whole Corey thing as his cheeks slowly turned red.

"Oh."

I held my jaw as the pain continued to shoot through my gums.

"Yeah."

Colby said, walking over to me and wrapping his arms around my waist.

"So... You guys are a thing now too I'm guessing?"

We nodded and just stood there until Devyn and Corey walked out of the bathroom.

"Guys, we-"

Corey's face turned a pasty white like he saw a ghost once he noticed Elton was there.

He didn't even move or anything, just stood there like a statue.

"Hey, Corey."

Elton said, walking over to him, turning to wink at us before he hugged him.

Corey jumped, but slowly hugged back.

"H-hey, Elton."

Devyn looked at them with a confused look on her face.

I motioned her over and Colby told her the whole story since I still couldn't.

Her eyes went wide when Colby finished, instantly regretting everything we did.

"Oh. So Corey had and or still has a crush on Elton?"

She half whispered.

We nodded, guilty of our decisions.

She didn't say anything for a moment until she waved us to come towards her.

Colby and I both had to lean down a little bit so she could whisper in our ears.

"I-I kind of still like Xepher."

We both pulled back eyes fully open before looking at Devyn then each other.

"Really?"

I managed to say though it did hurt.

She nodded, sheepishly looking at the ground.

As moved my jaw a little bit, I heard it crack, causing Colby to look at me.

"What was that?"

"My jaw."

After the crack, I felt the tension in my jawbone ease.

"Are you okay?"

He asked, looking over to me.

"Yeah. It was just stiff."

Nodding, he walked back over to Corey and Elton.

"So, you still like Xepher?"

I asked Devyn, earning a nod.

"Huh. So, what's going to happen now?"

She turned her head, giving me confused look.

"What do you mean?"

"I mean, what's going to happen between you and Corey?"

She sighed, leaning against the doorway.

"I don't know. We like two different people and I don't want to hurt him."

All I could do was stand there.

I thought about how it would feel if that were to happen between me and Colby.

What if he liked someone else but felt like he had to put up with me?

What if he doesn't love me?
