🥀12🥀

What happened to Colby's parents here didn't happen in real life and his grandma actually died. I just want to make it less sad. And, I don't know Sam's mom's real name, so bear with me. 😂

Colby was nervous.

He kept pacing around the kitchen as he waited for Sam's mom to arrive.

"Colby. Calm down. Just come sit down."

He heard Corey say as he walked past him and into the living room to sit on the couch.

Colby did as he said, and as soon as he sat down, there was a knock on the door.

Sighing, he stood up and opened the door, revealing Sam's mom.

"Come on in, Ms. Golbach."

"Thank you, Colby."

She walked in, stopping right in front of the living room to wait for Colby to close the door.

When he walked up to her, he wrapped his arms around her, squeezing her tightly.

"How have you guys been?"

He asked, letting go of her.

"Eh. Sam really misses you, Colby."

Colby frowned.

"Yeah. I was so busy with school and didn't get to text or call. Plus, you know, with my phone acting up and stuff didn't help."

He said, rubbing the back of his neck awkwardly.

"I understand. Sam barely texted or called me too. I think it's the fact that you were in LA and he was here. He stayed up late almost every night crying on his bed or in the field because he missed you and he still does, but not as often."

Colby tilted his head down, looking at the floor as guilt took over his body.

"Hey, it's okay. At least you're trying to make it better. If you weren't, then we'd have a problem."

Sam's put her hand on Colby's shoulder and chuckled.

"Yeah. But that's not the point. I hurt Sam."

Tears filled Colby's eyes as he spoke.

"You might have, but you're still trying to make it right. It's not what you did that matters, it's what you do to solve it."

Colby hugged her again and sobbed into her shoulder.

She rubbed his back, comforting him.

After a couple of minutes, Colby let go.

"Okay, so when and how do I do this?"

Sam's mom sighed, pushing her long, curly blonde hair out of her face.

"Um, well, Sam usually gets home between 5 and 6 every day so he could go to the field, so I'd say you should be there around that time."

"Okay. How do I do it though?"

They both stood there, thinking.

"You can go to the spot in the field Sam is always at and wait for him. Once he comes, he'll be confused of course, but you can tell him how you feel or whatever you want to tell him."

Colby nodded, thinking of what he could tell Sam.

"Yeah. That would work. I could tell him how sorry I am and how much I love him."

Sam's mom then nodded as well as she walked over to Colby and patted his shoulder.

"See? We figured it out. Sam's with Jake and Kat, so he won't be back for awhile."

"Okay. Wanna go get lunch?"

"Sure! Where to?"

"Um... We can go to Chili's?"

"That works!"

"Are we driving separately, or?"

"We can take my Corolla."

"Okay! I just have to grab my wallet then we can leave."

"Okay."

Once Sam's mom got her wallet, her and Colby got into the Corolla and went off to have lunch.

Sam and his mom had gotten Colby the car on his 16th birthday since he lived with his grandma who didn't have much money after his parents died in a car crash.

After about 10 minutes, they made it to the restaurant.

They walked in and immediately got a table since the place wasn't packed unlike the one in LA.

"So. What happens if Sam doesn't love me back?"

Colby asked, picking at his fajita.

"Oh, don't worry about that. He loves you. Believe me."

"Okay."

They sat in silence until they finished eating their food, leaving soon after.

"What do you want to do now?"

Colby asked as he got into the driver's side of the car.

"I don't know. We can go to Walmart to get Sam some graduation gifts."

"That works."

Once Sam's mom got into the car, Colby started it and pulled out of the parking lot.

"So, what are we going to get him?"

He asked, whipping his chocolate brown hair out of his ocean blue eyes.

"Um, we can get him a little stuffed bear and some candy."

Colby nodded as he watched the road swiftly glide underneath the car.

"Okay. So basically just a bear and chocolate?"

She nodded as Colby pulled into the parking lot of Walmart.

"We're here."

Colby said, stepping out of the car and walking over to the passenger's seat to open the door for Sam's mom.

"Wow. That was fast. I forgot it was that close since I haven't been here in forever. The last time I came was when Sam and I came with you and Kat.

Colby's eyes got wide.

"Really? That was almost 4 years ago."

"Yup. Sam and I never really go to places that we went to with you. It brings him too many memories."

The brunette frowned.

"I'm so sorry for ever hurting you guys."

Sam's mom nodded and patted Colby's shoulder.

"You don't have to tell me that. Sam's the one you should tell."

Colby nodded, looking at the ground.

"We can go shop now, if you want."

Sam's mom chuckled, walking around with a buggy.

Anything that seemed to be something Sam would like, they would grab.

Walking around, they walk towards the picture printer thing. (Idk what it's called😂)

Colby stopped, looking at a really nice looking picture display.

Sam's mom noticed Colby stop, so she just quit pushing the buggy.

"What is it?"

She asked as she approached him.

"It's a picture frame."

She looked at the frame, feeling her chest start closing up as tears formed in her eyes.

"Can I get it for Sam with a picture of us in it?"

Colby asked, wiping tears from Sam's mom's face.

"Of course!"

They walked up to the guy behind the booth.

"Can I get one of these with this picture in it?"

(Don't mind it not being edited. My phone wouldn't let me fix it)

"Sure thing! The total will be... $15.67"

Colby nodded, putting his hand out in front of Sam's mom before she could hand the man money.

"I got it."

He said, taking out his wallet.

"You sure?"

"Yeah."

He handed the man $16 and stood there, waiting.

"It'll take about 5 to 10 minutes to make. Just depends on if the printer wants to cooperate or not."

The man snickered, giving Colby his change.

Colby nodded as he walked over and leaned against the wall beside them.

"You okay, Colby?"

Sam's mom asked, walking over to him.

He nodded again, closing his eyes.

After what felt like 2 seconds, the picture was made and put into the frame.

"Here you go!"

He handed Sam's mom the frame before standing up and walking to the bathroom.

She sniffled, looking down at it.

"It's beautiful, Colby."

The boy walked over and looked at it, tears instantly covering his eyes.

They continued walking for a few more minutes before walking towards the check out line.

"You ready to go?"

Colby asked, putting everything behind the stick thingy on the moving belt at the register.

"Only if you are."

He nodded, moving in front of the cashier.

"How's your day going? Wait, Colby?"

The cashier asked, making Colby look up.

"Shea?"

She walked around the counter and hugged him.

He hugged back, shock written all over his face.

"How ya been? I haven't see you in forever!"

"I've been good! Just got back from college! How about you?"

"Cool! Eh. I've been better. Had to get a job here so I can go to college. What did you go for?"

"Engineering in LA."

"Oh wow! I've always wanted to go there! Was it fun?"

Colby shrugged.

"Not really. Met a couple of friends, but that's about it."

"Cool. Well, I gotta get back to work. We should catch up sometime!"

She said, putting the teddy bear in the bag.

"Okay! Sounds great!"

Once Shea rang up everything and they paid, Sam's mom and Colby left and went back to the mansion.

"It's 5:00."

Sam's mom said, looking at her watch.

"Holy crap! I need to get ready!"

She laughed, opening the door to leave.

"See you later, Colby."

"Wait! Can you put all of this in a box and put this in an envelope with it?"

Colby asked, handing her the bags and a letter he had written before they went to the store.

"Sure."

"Thank you!"

He yelled, running up the stairs.

And with that, he got ready for the evening and headed to the meadow.
