Prologue

My life started out relatively normal, it had it's ups and downs, it's forks in the road. Times where I had to make choices, things that may or may not, have changed my life forever...but my father guided me through it. He was my rock, my shoulder to cry on, but you can't depend on your parents for absolutely everything.

My mother was named Onyx, she was beautiful. My father made sure I knew what she looked like, not because he wanted me to miss her, but because he wished I knew her like he did. We do look a bit alike, if you really looked close I'm sure you could've told we were family. My mother died when I was born. She never got to hold me in her arms, never got to kiss my fore-head or tell me a bed time story as I grew up...but I don't mind it. Dad acts as both the dad and the mom, and for that I'm grateful.

There were these times, he'd go through depression, denial, anger, but he finally grew to accept that he had to take care of a daughter. He calls me his beacon of hope, the only light in a dark dark world. I tried to be there for him when he needed me and in return he was there when I needed him.

"Aria. Focus." Adam said. "I'm talking to you." I snapped out of it, feeling guilty for day-dreaming in the middle of the conversation.

"S-sorry." I blushed in embarrassment. He smiled, talking again.

"So, like I said....After school we could totally go hang out at my place." He said. "We'll talk about that later,  I have to get these plants studied Adam....You know how important this is to me!" I scolded, yes I was being a bit harsh, but all he ever wants to do is get me to go on dates with him. I loved him and all, but all I needed was to get SOME work done, at the very least. "I gotta head out now, take care Hot stuff."  He winked at me, making me roll my eyes. "Let's get this project done, and by done, I mean DONE. It's due Monday..we can't fool around." I reminded him. "You got it Gorgeous." He walked away smirking...what a schmooze.

(Later that month)

"Alright Ar! Are you ready for the trip?" Adam asked cheerfully, was that even a question, of course I was ready, I'd been ready since the day it was announced. We were going on a trip to the Babylonian Gardens to see the gorgeous fly traps and plants that were grown there. I was so excited, I had heard many legends about the Babylonian Gardens that I could barely wait to get there.

As our plane finally landed, I almost hopped out of the window in happiness. "We're here!!!!" I cheered. "Aria...calm down." Adam said, smiling at me. "I can't calm down Adam! We're here...We're here!!!!" I screamed at the top of my lungs in cheerfulness. "Shhh.." The flight attendant hushed us. "Sorry." I laughed.  When the crew FINALLY let us leave, I dashed to the resort. "Everyone, we have special assigned areas for all of you. Kevin and Lucy...The Greenhouse...Stacy and Jennifer, the ...." The professor rambled on and on. "Aria and Adam, you guys get to go see the Venus Fly-traps...be careful...they're carnivorous." He warned. I nodded happily.

When we got there, I started my work immediately. "Arrrrrrr..." Adam called in an eerie voice. "Hmm?" I asked, looking up from the plant I was working with. "We're finally alone." He whispered in my ear, making me jump in surprise. 'How'd he get here so fast?' I thought. "Do you know what that means?" He smiled. "That we can get work done in peace?" I said. "Oh you're so innocent." He cooed, making me blush. "S-shut up...we have to work on this...we only have 2 weeks..." I reminded him. He started to nibble my ear. "Get off of me." I warned, backing up. "Oh but Aria...you know you want it to." He winked, kissing me. I backed up even farther, losing my footing on an uneven part of the ground. I stumbled backwards into something, I hadn't known what it was until I felt it. Chomp.

I woke up to extreme pain, I didn't want to move, I didn't want to close my eyes either. "She's awake." An unfamiliar voice said. "Aria....You're up.." My dad's voice rang out. "Dad..." I smiled weakly. "Are you feeling better?" He asked. "W-what happened?" I was confused. "You tripped over something and fell into a Venus Fly-trap....a rather big one at that..luckily one of the students found you." He explained. "How am I alive?" I wondered aloud.  "No one really knows, but I'm glad you are." He kissed my fore-head.

"Adam's here Ari...I'll leave you two alone." He opened the door, letting Adam in. "Adam..I'm so glad to see you..." I smiled. (((Author's Note: Aria doesn't remember what happened before she got hurt. So Adam seems like he always has to her, her loving boyfriend.)) "Aria." He smiled, walking up to my bed-side. He grabbed my throat, choking me. It took me by surprise...why is he doing this? "You should've died back there..you're worthless..you understand me?" He barked at me. "Adam...stop...you're..hurting me..." I gasped. "Good." He let my throat go. "By the way..if you know what's good for you, you won't ever tell anyone about what just happened." He smirked. I had obeyed, never muttering a word about it, until now.
