Chapter 4: Welcome to Briar

After weeks of begging and pleading to get my job back, I finally realized, it wasn't going to happen. "Mr. Ren! Please!" I begged. "No Aria, you're reckless and I worked too hard for this!" He exclaimed. "B-but..It won't happen again Sir, I-I promise!" I stuttered. "Too late!" He growled, hanging up. 'Great, now I don't have a job!' I thought to myself. Where was I gonna go now? I'm already 3 weeks late on my rent.

"Ms. Windchester?" The manager of the place I was staying at, said. "Yes?" I asked. "You're 3 weeks behind on rent, you ready to pay yet?" He looked at me, with a patient smile. "No Sir, I'm sorry..I just lost my job!" I explained. His smile turned into a frown. "Fine, then get out...and don't bother coming back kid, I've got a long line of people just waiting to get an apartment, and they're willing to pay. I'm not running a charity here. "

"Fine, then I'll get my stuff and go." I sighed. 'Talk about a rough month' I thought. I realized I hadn't eaten since last week, my stomach rumbling in hunger. "Gah.. I'm so hungry." I complained. I decide to go into the forest to pick flowers, the sooner I eat, the better. After searching, I feel the hunger almost control me. I've got to do something, fast. There was a town not far from here, Briar, it was known for it's elusive royal family.

"Guess it wouldn't hurt.." I decided.
I broke into a weak run, since I didn't have the strength to run fast.

If I'd eaten before I got here, I'd be as fast as a cheetah. As I arrived in town, I stopped at a large cluster of trees. There were large amounts of plants,  foliage, and wildlife. I felt happy now, I felt home.

"Uhm..excuse me Miss." A small voice called. I turned to see where the voice came from. I was face to face with a large tree. "Oh, I forgot." The voice said.

A frail girl, wispy, ghost-like, a shadow of a human being. "You shouldn't be here, it's dangerous for humans to go into the woods alone." The voice muttered.

"Well, luckily for you.. I'm not all that human." I laughed, my stomach deciding to make it self noticed. "Uh..oh. Miss are you hungry?" The creature asked, her eyebrows knitting together.

I sighed. "I haven't eaten since last Tuesday." I said. The girl disappeared, coming back with a basket of fresh fruits, flowers, and more food than I ever thought possible. "N-no I couldn't possibly take this..." I said, being polite.

"No, I insist." She smiled. "By the way I'm Lillith. Lillith Chigami." The creature smiled. "I'm Aria... Aria Windchester." I greet. "Nice to meet you." We said in unison, making us both laugh. "I should go now, my sisters are going to kill me if I don't show up for dinner." I nod.
"Nice meeting you, Lillith." I said. "You too." She replied.

Maybe this place won't be so bad...
