The first steps. They say the first steps are big. You can't walk or run until you take the first steps...your first steps...

"Sam!"

A girl whipped around, trying to find the one who called out her name. She rolled her eyes when she saw who it was. "So glad you could join us." She joked, as she walked towards the building they call prison.

A chuckle was heard, as her best friend caught up with Samantha. "Well, I only grace you with my presence, that's why my mom loves you so much!" He laughs, taking her backpack off her back and putting it onto his own, ignoring Sam's protest.

He held up a hand, silencing her. "Sam, you are my best friend, I won't let you carry your own books!" He jiggled her bag slightly. "Plus, with all your books, this thing weighs more than you do!" He laughed, as she pouted.

"I eat as much as you do, Derek! I just exercise all the while!" Sam laughed, lightly hitting Derek's stomach. Now it was his turn to pout, making Sam laugh even more.

"Come on! First period is starting soon!" Sam called out in shock, seeing the time on her watch. She grabbed Derek's hand, pulling him along through the doors, ignoring his shocked cries.

That was only the beginning of both senior year and to the end of a great friendship...

"Those were the simple days, back then at the start of senior year...now...? I am unsure of what had happened to cause the rift between me and my best friend. I wish for those days back, but the mistakes I have made are too great...I'm sorry, Derek, you will always have my love I had given you..."
