Prolouge

Sayori planted the seed into the fertilized soil and carefully pressed on it.

She did the same with the last seed, and finally her work was finished.

She had already spent an hour and a half tending to the roses, and planting a new batch of sunflowers wasn't that easy either. Being a gardener was hard work!

But it was her passion, and it was what she had dedicated herself to. It's always worth putting the energy into something if it makes you happy, right? It also helped with occasional rainclouds, so that was a bonus!

Natsuki and her father passed by. They were walking to the grand opening of their new bakery. Sayori waved, and Natsuki beckoned her over, waving her father off.

The girl quickly skipped over to Natsuki and her father, humming along the way. Natsuki looked at her with sparkling eyes.

"You know how I'm opening the bakery today?" The pink-haired girl asked excitedly.

"Of course I did, silly~! How could I forget about something as important as that?"

Natsuki giggled.

"Well, I want you, Monika and Yuri to be my guests of honor! I couldn't have done this without all of your support!" Natsuki said happily. Sayori smiled at this.

"I would absolutely love to!" Sayori chirped. Natsuki started thanking her a bunch, and they were about to set off for Yuri when they heard a scream in the background.

Both girls whipped around immediately to find Natsuki's father lying flat in the middle of the road.

Natsuki ran over to her father and picked him up, tears streaming down her face. Sayori quickly recovered from her shock. She pulled out her phone and dialed 911.

The ambulance arrived soon, considering it was a rather small town. Natsuki watched in horror as her father was loaded into the back of it.

The bakery's opening was postponed.
