Chapter 4

Blossompaw yawned, that was one of the best sleeps she’d had since coming to the forest. She looked at Sootpaw who had taken the last shift of the night. “Bramblepath, wake up.”

“Huh? Who is it?” Bramblepath quickly opened his eyes. “Oh, Blossompaw.” “We need to get a move on.” She whispered. She had no idea what was happening at the clans, and she certainly didn’t think it was good. The clans could be full of possessed cats, and some cats could be exiled!” “Sootpaw, are you ready to leave?” Bramblepath asked. Sootpaw nodded and they set off into the unknown.

“Hey you two.” Blossompaw jumped at the sound of the strange voice. “I want to help you.’ A cat with chestnut fur stepped out of the darkness. “But, you’re a Dark Forest cat. Why would you help us?” Blossompaw protested.

“I was convinced to train in the Dark Forest. I was killed during training, and I couldn’t go to Star Clan. I’ve always wanted to get out of here. I thought that if I helped you in some way then maybe, maybe I could go to Star Clan and see my family. I am Chestnutclaw.”

“Wow, he sounds very depressed.” Blossompaw thought. “How do we know we can trust you?” Sootpaw asked warily. “You can’t, but I assure you, I will help you. The Possession Stone is straight from here, but you’ll have to turn left at the river. Be careful, there will be many cats on the way.”

Blossompaw was unsure of whether to trust him or not, and then wind blew. Chestnutclaw’s eyes widened, “The wind has never blown here.”

Blossompaw turned around and saw a picture of a ginger she-cat. “I give the ability of good-judgment.” Then she was gone. Blossompaw looked at Chestnutclaw, at once she knew he was telling the truth. Sootpaw and Bramblepath knew it too.

“Thank you Chestnutclaw. May you be accepted into Star Clan.” Bramblepath nodded at him. Then they walked straight ahead in the direction Chestnutclaw had directed them to. Blossompaw couldn’t help but wonder who that orange she-cat was. She seemed powerful even though she looked old and tired, but she definitely had power.

“Hey guys who do you think that cat in the wind was?” Blossompaw asked. “I think it was Flowerstar. Mother told me she was a ginger cat.” Sootpaw nodded in agreement. “If it was really her, then I’m very honored!” Blossompaw thought to herself.
