Chapter 13- I Promise
Jungkook and Taehyung decided to hang out at the park that Jungkook took the elder to just the other day. They found their way to the bench they sat at before.
"Have a good time today?" Jungkook questioned as he looked at the elder male.
"Well duh, of course I did. It was interesting, but I still had a fun time" Taehyung smiled brightly and looked at the younger male.
"I'm glad then" Jungkook smiled and looked forward.
The two boys sat in silence. It wasn't uncomfortable, it was very calming.
It was about 20 minutes into sitting with each other, Jungkook's stomach growled. Taehyung giggled as Jungkook's face turned red in embarrassment.
"Hungry?" Taehyung laughed slightly.
"Yeah, I kinda am"Jungkook chuckled and rubbed his face with his hands.
"No worries. I have an idea what we can do." Taehyung stood up from the bench and stood directly in front of Jungkook.
"And what might that be Tae?" Jungkook leaned back on the bench and crossed his arms, still keeping eye contact with the feminine looking boy in front of him.
"We're gonna cook our own dinner!" Tae exclaimed excitedly. But before Jungkook could even deny it, Taehyung had already grabbed his hand and was pulling him to his motorcycle.
Taehyung and Jungkook went back to their dorms so Tae could grab the keys to the Home Economics room Miss Son gave him permission to use. He also grabbed his speaker and sketchbooks. Jungkook grabbed his photography equipment. When they collected all of their things, they made their way towards the closest grocery store.
"Ok Tae, what do you have in mind?" Jungkook questioned as they made their ways down the isles.
"I was thinking pasta, but maybe not" Taehyung states as he looks at the different items.
"No, pasta's good. I like spaghetti."
"Then spaghetti we will make" Taehyung smiled and the two continued the search for the ingredients.
After about 20 minutes of looking around, they found everything they needed. They decided on going to a self checkout station, to avoid questions by any employees. But the thing was, they had an argument over who would pay for the items.
"No, I'm going to buy the stuff. It was my idea" said a slightly annoyed Taehyung.
"Fine. But then I owe you dinner sometime" Jungkook chuckled and surrendered to the elder. He knew the argument would go on for a while if he didn't end it there.
"I will probably take you up on that offer when I decided I wanna die because of finals. So, thank you. " Taehyung chuckled as he scanned each item.
After all of the items were paid for, they ventured off back to the building that contained the kitchen where they would prepare their food.
As soon as they entered the room, the two males immediately got to work. Taehyung played some music and got to work.
"Tae, what do you need me to do?" Jungkook asked, wanting to help as much as possible.
"Um" Taehyung took a small pause "you could fill a pot with water to boil the noodles. And then chop some garlic for the sauce." Taehyung states as he pulled out several knives and cutting boards.
"Sir, yes sir!" Jungkook yelled slightly and saluted to the elder. He quickly got to work and put water in a pot, and set the dial for the water to boil.
Even though there was plenty of space for the two males to work, they were working side by side. Taehyung was dicing tomatoes and onions, while Jungkook chopped up garlic and some spices.
"Kookie, can you start frying up the hamburger meat?" Taehyung asked as he continued chopping away.
"Yeah, of course" Jungkook set down his knife and started preparing the hamburger. All he really had to do was take a skillet and put the hamburger meat and water into it. So, that's what he did. He was focusing on the hamburger, and trying not to burn the meat, when he head a small yelp.
"Ouch! Son of a bitch!" Taehyung squeaked in pain.
"Tae!" Jungkook carefully ran over to the elder to see what was wrong. He grabbed the elders face and looked at him. "Are you alright? What happened?" Jungkook asked with worry laced in his voice.
"Kookie, I'm fine. I just got some onion juice in my eye" Taehyung said, trying to make sure not to worry the younger male.
"As long as you're alright" Jungkook let go of Tae's face and smiled.
"I'll be right back, I need to go wash my face in the bathroom" Taehyung chuckled and walked out of the room.
Jungkook turned his attention to the meat still cooking on the stove. He had just put the noodles in the boiling water, when Taehyung's phone started ringing. Without a thought, he simply answered the phone call.
"Hello?" Jungkook asked.
"Um, who is this?" Asked the person on the other side of the line.
"Names Jungkook. Who's this?" Jungkook questioned.
"Park Bogum. Now why do you have my TaeTae's phone?" Bogum took a small pause, but not long enough for Jungkook to say something. "Where is he? I swear to god if you hurt him, I'll kill you son of a bitch."
Jungkook was quite taken aback by this. He wasn't sure why this Bogum person was being so overprotective of Tae.
"Chill dude, Taehyung's fine. He's just at the bathroom, I didn't do anything to him." Jungkook took a deep breathe, trying to keep his calm with the other male. He could understand why he was so worried, but the worry was extremely unnecessary for the situation.
"Good. Now, why are you with him?" Questioned Bogum. He seemed slightly annoyed.
"Uh, we're just hanging out. Currently making spaghetti." Jungkook immediately remembered the meat on the stove, and he rushed to mix it around. He let out soft sigh when he saw it wasn't burnt.
"What's your aim with him? Plan to make him fall for you, then break his heart? I will skin you alive if you hurt my precious Taehyung" Bogum was boldly throwing small threats at Jungkook.
"Ok man, hold the fuck up. Why are you so damn concerned? Taehyung is seriously the sweetest person I've ever met in my life, why the actual hell would I hurt him? I would never in my life try to hurt that beautiful soul. Even though we've never met, it's extremely bold of you to think of me like that. Taehyung is not a booty call to me, first off. Secondly, we aren't even dating, so fuck you. Third, Tae can have any friends that he fucking wants. Why are you so damn worried. As long as I've known Tae, he can sure as hell fend for himself and make decisions that will effect him positively. It has been the most amazing past few weeks of my life by befriending him. So let him live, he can clearly do fine without you being by his side. And the next time you start threatening people over the phone, make sure you know who the fuck you're talking to, because the next time you mouth off to me, it's not going to be fucking pretty. Got it? Now, excuse me because I would like to enjoy my time with Taehyung and not have to worry about your stupid ass. Good day Bogum." Jungkook hung up and set Tae's phone down lightly. He took a deep breathe, trying to calm his nerves. He really didn't understand why this Bogum person was trying to pick a fight with him over the phone. Yeah sure, he could understand why he was so worried about Tae, but this guy took it to the next level.
Jungkook shook the thought out of his head and continued cooking. He tested the noodles, and they were perfectly cooked, so he drained the water and turned off the burner on the stove. He finished chopping the garlic, and finished chopping up the onions Tae was cutting.
After 10 minutes, Jungkook was starting to worry about Taehyung. But almost as if on cue, the elder walked back into the room.
"How you feeling TaeTae? Any better now?" Jungkook asked and leaned on the counter.
"Yeah, it doesn't hurt anymore. My eye is just red now." Taehyung pointed to one of his eyes, showing how one of them was more red than the other.
"Well that's good, I'm glad you're alright" Jungkook smiled and Tae rolled his eyes.
"Oh shut up" Taehyung giggled. "You're making me blush." Taehyung covered his face with his hands. Jungkook just chuckled.
"Awe~ is little TaeTae flustered~?" Jungkook cooed at the elder. He walked over to Tae and put his face near the elders.
Taehyung ever so slightly looked through his hands, but covered his face back up when he saw how close Jungkook was to him. He tried backing up slowly, but bumped into a table behind him.
Jungkook let out a small chuckle and decided to pick the elder up. Taehyung was startled and immediately wrapped his hands and legs around Jungkook, afraid of falling.
"I'm not gonna drop you, relax" Jungkook laughed slightly and started walking around. He set Tae on one of the counters and let him go. Jungkook walked over to the food cooking, and stirred it around some, then took it off the burner.
Taehyung just sat and watched the younger move around. He didn't understand how he looked so handsome, and all he was doing was cooking. His heart started beating slightly faster, and a smile crossed his face. He didn't know how he truly felt about Jungkook. He knew he loved his company, and he was just amazing in general. But could their relationship go any farther than just being friends? Taehyung almost hoped that it could. He knew that there was the chance that Jungkook wouldn't ever feel the same, so, he didn't get his hopes up.
"Jungkook, can I ask you something?" Taehyung broke the silence.
"Sure, what's up?" Jungkook continued making the spaghetti sauce as he spoke.
"Do you like hanging out with me? Or do you just do it because you don't have anything better to do?" Taehyung looked down at his feet. He felt bad for asking, but he just wanted to know.
There was a long pause between the two. Taehyung was still looking down at his feet. He felt a pair of large hands on his shoulders, but he still didn't look up.
"Taehyung. Why would you ask such a thing?" Jungkook asked softly. The elder didn't move an inch. He just kept staring at the floor. Jungkook let go of Taehyung's shoulders, and quickly pulled him into a tight embrace. He wrapped his arms tightly around the elder, not saying a word. He was concerned at the question, and the sudden sadness that surrounded Taehyung. He had no clue what was going on.
"I heard you" Taehyung said softly.
"What do you mean Tae?" Jungkook asked.
"On the phone. With Bogum." Taehyung sniffled a bit.
"I'm sorry Tae, I shouldn't have answered your phone. I was invading your privacy. I hope I didn't hurt you" Jungkook said with a panicky tone.
"Did you mean it?" Taehyung asked with a small voice.
"Mean what?"
"That you would never hurt me?" Taehyung's grip on Jungkook tightened.
"Of course I meant it. Why would I lie?" Jungkook asked. He was relieved that he didn't upset the elder.
"Cause people have before." Taehyung said in a muffled tone. His head was now buried in Jungkook's shoulder. He was trying so hard not to cry.
"Then they didn't deserve you. Hell, I don't even feel like I deserve you. But I would never ever fucking hurt you." Jungkook said confidently. There was a small sniffle from Tae before he spoke.
"Thank you, Jungkook"
"You're welcome, Tae" Jungkook smiled softly. He started to pull away from Taehyung, but the elder only tightened his grasp on the younger's shirt
"C-can we just stay like this? Just for a small while?" Taehyung asked, still not looking at Jungkook. He didn't want the younger seeing him crying softly.
"Of course" Jungkook said in a soft, but comforting voice. Jungkook just remained hugging Taehyung. The elder just hugged Jungkook, and kept his head buried in his shoulder.
Jungkook and Taehyung stayed in that position for only a small while. Neither of them wanted the food to burn, so their comforting position had to be broken apart.
Taehyung was a bit quiet while they finished cooking, and it bothered Jungkook. He never saw the sad side of Taehyung, And he didn't like it at all. Taehyung didn't deserve to feel sad. He was so kind, and Jungkook wished that Taehyung would soon be happy again. The depressing atmosphere was making him slightly uncomfortable, but he would never show it.
Right after they were done cooking, Jungkook took two plates and put a good amount of food on each plate. Taehyung was sitting quietly, waiting for Jungkook.
"Tae sweetheart, what do you want to drink?" asked the younger. He was trying to be very soft with the elder, trying to make sure that Tae didn't feel uncomfortable.
"I'll just have water, thank you" Taehyung said in a small voice. Jungkook frowned mentally. He really needed to find a way to make Tae happy again.
Jungkook got two glass cups and filled them with water. He immediately set one of them in front of Taehyung, and one where he himself would sit. He went to the plates of spaghetti, and brought them to the table, along with flatware.
"Thanks Jungkook" Taehyung have a small smile and turned to his food.
"You're welcome Tae" Jungkook smiled and also turned to his food.
The two were in a slightly awkward silence together. Jungkook has a couple questions for Taehyung, but he didn't know if now was the right time.
"Tae, can I ask you something? I mean, if you don't wanna talk about it, you don't need to." Jungkook set his fork down and looked at Taehyung. Tae looked up and Jungkook and took a deep breathe. He nodded slightly at the younger.
"Why was Bogum so worried about me doing something to you? He came off extremely aggressive when I answered your phone." Jungkook questioned. Taehyung looked Jungkook in the eyes.
"I don't really know, Kook. He's usually really nice. I haven't called him in a small while, he might have just gotten worried that something happened. He gets super protective when it comes to me. I don't have a reason why though, he just is" Taehyung propped his arm up on the table and leaned onto it. "He gets kinda clingy when I'm with other people. Especially other guys. But I think he's just afraid of loosing me to someone else, if that makes sense." Jungkook nodded. He understands why a close friend would be clingy, especially to someone like Tae. Super sweet, kind, and not to mention beautiful. "We've been through some tough shit together, and I guess he just has this mindset that we're going to split and never see each other again. Which I don't see happening at all" Taehyung let out a small sigh.
"Ah, ok. I was just wondering, that's all." Jungkook said and turned back to his food.
"No, it's alright. You have a right to know... Especially 'cause it happened to you." Taehyung said and also turned back to his plate of food.
The two continued eating in silence, but Taehyung stole plenty of quick glances at the younger male. Taehyung smiled to himself every time he looked at the other male. He was happy that Jungkook was sill being super kind to him, even if Bogum was being a bit rude. Tae really did like Jungkook, but he just couldn't tell how he liked him. If it was a friendship like, or if it was a boyfriend kinda like.
Taehyung looked up at Jungkook once more, and blushed when he found the younger looking at him already. His cheeks turned a light pink, and his breathing hitched slightly. He could hear a low chuckle form the younger male across from him.
"If you take a picture, you can stare at me all the time." Jungkook laughed slightly.
"I think I'll take you up on that offer." Tae giggled and picked up his phone. Instead of taking a picture, he took a small video of Jungkook eating. When he set his phone down, he continued eating the small portion of food left on his plate.
It only took a minute after Tae took his video, that Jungkook finished his plate of spaghetti. Jungkook just watched the elder as he finished eating. Taehyung finally smiled again, and it made Jungkook happy.
When Taehyung was finished eating, Jungkook took both plates and started washing them, along with everything else. Taehyung tried to help, but Jungkook refused. He just had Tae hang out until he was finished.
"Ok Tae, get your things together." Jungkook said as he grabbed his large camera bag.
"Where are we going?" Taehyung asked.
"You'll just have to wait and see" Jungkook smiled.
"Awe, come on Kook, please?" Taehyung pouted.
"Nope!" Jungkook chuckled and picked up his bag.
"Why not?" Taehyung asked as he collected his things.
"Because its a surprise, that's why"
"A good surprise?" Tae questioned.
"A great surprise"
