Chapter 3: The new guy.

Jungkook:

After eating, me, Sena and Hana begin walking round the school, the two of them acting as my guides. We walk outside. It's actually quite pretty, as far as schools go, a field surrounding the building with trees growing in random places. As we were just about to re-enter the building, I see a familiar face. I smile as I see it's Taehyung.

He left my old school in Daegu not too long ago, because his family had moved after his Mum received a promotion in her job. We keep in touch, texting every now and then. It's not like our breakup was a bad one, him moving was pretty much the main reason. He had been a good boyfriend for the most part, except sometimes he would get quite jealous for no reason. But that wasn't a big deal right? Either way, I was happy to see him now, and happy that I knew someone here.

'Jungkook!' He calls as he walks up to me, pulling his bag strap across his body, smirking. 'Long time no see huh?' We hug, Hana and Sena standing there in confusion.

'Uh-hum.' Sena clears her throat. 'You two know each other?'

We pull apart. 'Ah, Sena, Hana - me and Jungkook used to go to the same school together in Daegu. He's my ex-boyfriend.' Tae tells her, completely unfased. I wasn't planning to reveal it like that so soon, but hey,
I guess it's out now.

'So you- you're...gay?' Hana asks. Oh God what if they're like the people back at Daegu, who didn't take so kindly to the idea of me and Taehyung.

'Uh...yeah.' I manage to say, not looking forward to the response.

'Oh, that's cool.' She says, to my shock.

'Aw, I can see you two together - it's cute.' Sena joins in. I'm still in shock as Taehyung ruffles my hair.

'Relax, no one here's like the people in Daegu Jungkook.' He reassures me, knowing what I was thinking. I feel like a giant weight has been lifted off my shoulders. People are really okay with it here? Wow. This school was looking too good to be true. I'm still going to keep it quiet though, just in case. Even so, for the first time today, I really believe I can have a fresh start. A chance to be weightless.

'Come on. Let's go to class, you're with us in Mr.Lee's art class.' Sena says checking my timetable.

'Hey, I'm in that class too. Looks like you're going to be stuck with me.' Taehyung says, swinging his arm over my shoulders. I smile, in a good mood as we head to the last lesson of the day together.

We eventually reach the art room. Art. I've never been into it that much,
I mean honestly what can you even learn from it? Surely not enough to have a whole hour of it everyday. The only form of art I've ever really liked is photography, and maybe drawing from time to time, if I can be bothered.
I walk in as the teacher ushers me over next to his desk at the front of the class. He looks quite young, perhaps in his thirties - I can't quite tell. He wears a light blue shirt that looks like it hasn't been ironed in years, with the sleeves rolled up to his elbows.

'Welcome, you must be the new student - I'm Mr.Lee, the best teacher there is, obviously.'
He says, as the class groan at his comment.

'I hope you'll have fun in my art class. Please introduce yourself to the class.' He waves his hand out dramatically in the direction of the class.

'Um hello, I'm Jeon Jungkook and uh, let's get along well.'
The class claps as I walk along to find an empty desk. Luckily I find an empty seat next to Taehyung, and sit down next to him as he smiles. As Mr.Lee begins to talk, I zone out and look around to see who I was put in class with. I see Hana and Sena, sitting together not too far away from my desk. I look around more, and don't recognise too many people. Then I spot the two guys Sena had pointed out earlier as being Yoongi and Jimin at a desk together way over the other side if the classroom at the back. It was kind of hard to miss them due to their outrageous hair colours. I mean I know it's rich coming from someone with pink highlights in their hair, but at least mine wasn't so bright that I could be spotted from space like theirs.

'Hey,' Tae whispers, nudging my arm and bringing me back to reality. I turn back to face the front, trying to focus on what Mr.Lee was saying.

'Right everyone, it's that time again - time for a new art project for this term!' He says enthusiastically, only to be met with more groans and sighs from the class.

'Okay okay hear me out,' he begins,
'For this project, I've decided to leave it as an open topic. This time, you can pick a topic yourself and depict that through your work.' The class seem to perk up slightly, chattering away at all the things they could do. I look over at Jimin, who instead was carving something into the desk using the point of a compass.

'I'm giving you this summer break to complete it, and once we come back to school I'll expect you all to present it to the class.'

Hana raises her hand. 'So, anything, anything at all?' She asks.

'Anything at all. Go wild.' He answers. I think I like this teacher, he seems to be way more relaxed than the others.

'By next week, I want you all to have come up with a plan for your art project, the theme, the medium you'll use, etc - okay? The project will be in partners, and to make my life easier I'll just say work with the person sitting next to you.'

He pauses for a moment as his eyes flick over to Yoongi and Jimin.
'And you two. I'm trusting you'll be able to work together. A stupid decision I know - but don't let me down. Any sign of trouble and I'm splitting you up.'

The class turns to them. They don't respond, and Jimin simply rolls his eyes and carries on carving into the desk, not paying attention to the stares of the entire class. Mr.Lee sighs, and wraps up by saying: 'Okay, get on with the work while I pretend to teach.' as he sits back down at his desk and opens up a book.

Jimin:

Art project? What am I, ten? I'm eighteen for God's sake - why am I being made to do this pointless shit?
I think Mr.Lee has me mixed up.
Does he not realise who I am? I'm Park Jimin, I get into fights, I start trouble,
I skip class. I don't DO art projects.
I continue to etch into the desk.
I carve a bullet, our gang symbol, and zone out of the lesson. Yoongi turns to me in his seat.

'Right, a good excuse not to do this lame project. Go.' He says.

'Uh - I was keeping the project at my house but unfortunately it burnt down on the weekend. Damn.' I make up on the spot, making Yoongi crack a smile.

'Or... the art project was so good I had art collectors come at me left right and centre, begging me to sell it to them. Out of the kindness of my heart, I sold it to one of them for a bargain of $3million.' I suggest.

'Judging our artistic abilities, the most we could sell for would be $3.' Yoongi replies. It's true, we were hopeless when it came to art. Not that I'd be putting any effort into this project. We probably won't do it at all.

God this lesson is boring. I begin to look around the class out of boredom. My eyes skim along the class until I see the new guy. Jungkook was it?

He talks to Taehyung, focused in the conversation. I lean back in my seat to get a better look at him. His hair was dyed a strawberry blonde colour, with cherry pink highlights at the tips. Why pink? And...was that eyeliner? Jeese, it's like he's ASKING to be made fun of. He's gonna be hopeless, I can tell. People are just going to flock to him.

But it seems like he already made friends with Taehyung. Or maybe they know each other? Hmm, Taehyung.
Never really liked him. I just find him...sneaky. He's two faced. I see him being nice to people, but every so often I'll hear him say things behind people's backs...

If you're going to be an arsehole, just be an arsehole. Like me. Everyone knows it. I don't need to be sly about it. I snap out of my thoughts suddenly when I notice the new guy staring back at me. I quickly look away and lean forward in my seat, hiding my head down close to the desk. That was awkward. I feel my cheeks burn out of embarrassment.

Stupid new guy.
