Chapter 16: Rain.
Jungkook:
The next week rolls around, and I wake up to leave the house, inhaling the fresh morning air. Usually I hate mornings, but this particular morning was prettier than most, so I could forgive everything.
I hopped into my car and turned the key. The engine stutters and croaks.
I try again. The same thing happens as the engine splutters out its dying breath.
I take it all back. I still hate mornings...

Reluctantly, I found myself taking the bus to school. I step onto the bus and scan my ticket. The doors close and I look around for a seat as I walk down the bus.
My eye catches a flicker of red. Cherry red to be precise. I look over and see Jimin and his reddy orange coloured hair, staring out the window, earphones in.
I can see his face more clearly through the reflection on the bus window. His eyes wander about as the bus moves, taking in what the world had to offer him for a view that day. I decide to take a seat next to him. I mean, it would be awkward if I ignored him. Plus we ARE project partners now, and that was as good an excuse as any. He turns his head around as I sit down to see who it was. He removes his earphones.
'Hey Flower Boy. Don't you see there are plenty of other free seats on this bus?' He looks me up and down.
I sigh exaggeratedly. 'Well none of those free seats are next to you so... too bad.' I smile and glance over to him in time to catch him rolling his eyes.
'What? Are you here to cause me misery? You don't usually take the bus so why are you here?' He questions.
'Ah, you noticed, I guess you were looking out for me.' I joke with a smug smile.
'No, it's just that I'd definitely notice if someone as odd looking as you walked on the bus.' He retorts, looking me up and down.
I tried to stay smug but I think I crumbled a little under his gaze.
'You still haven't answered the question - why are you here?'
'My car broke down. It's getting fixed. It could take days so you'll just have to put up with me.'
Jimin:
Ughhhhh. This kid - I swear. I enjoy my peaceful bus ride to school. Gives me time to think, and I like gazing at the world through the bus window. This neighbourhood really was pretty under the morning light. But it would be nice having Flower Boy sit next to me I guess. I could do with the company. Not that I was going to let him know that. I carry on staring out the window. I can feel the warmth of his arm as it presses against mine. These bus seats were no way near wide enough for two teenage guys to fit on without some form of contact. I place an earphone back into my ear, pretending to ignore him.
'What are you listening to?' Jungkook asks me.
'None of your business.' I joke back, finding it hard not to smile. Before I can stop him, Jungkook pulls out an earphone from one of my ears and places it in his own.
'Ah I like this song!' He announces. I roll my eyes, but I don't protest. Whatever. I let him share the earphones, as we drive along on the way to school.

Later that day, the school bell rings to announce the end of the day. I walk out of the building along with the current of students eager to get home. The weather had taken a drastic turn since this morning. The students push past one another, scurrying to shelter themselves from the drizzle of rain that had begun to leak through the clouds.
I didn't bring anything to cover myself - my baggy, hoodless red jumper doing little to stop the rain seeping through.
I couldn't even stand under the bus shelter since...well there wasn't one.
It was just a measly sign at the edge of the road to indicate where the bus should pull in.
'Stupid rain.' I mumble under my breath along with a string of curses.
I fumble my hands about to reach for my headphones, untangling them before placing them in my ears. Half to listen to music, half to not look as awkward standing here alone waiting for the bus. No one I knew got on the same bus as me, thankfully my route was different from theirs. Except maybe for a few students in the lower years.
I wait, my eyes following cars that pass up and down the street, their tires rolling through the puddles.
I'm distracted when suddenly a dark object floats above my head, making me jump and almost lose my footing.
I glance up, and see the mysterious object was not some sort of giant bat ready to eat me, but simply someone's big umbrella. I clear my throat and try to pretend I didn't just get scared of an umbrella. Ha...
To stop it from being anymore awkward, I step aside and out from under the umbrella. A second later, it appears above me again. Huh...okay...
I step the other way.
Again, the umbrella follows me, keeping me sheltered from the rain.
Is this person trying to be funny or... Why were they making this weird?
In a last attempt, I step forward. And to my annoyance, the umbrella follows.
'Can you stop-' I go to snap, before being cut off mid sentence when I turn around to see Jungkook standing there, one hand in his pocket, the other holding an umbrella up high above our heads.
He clears his throat. 'Y-You'll get wet.' He stutters, gesturing up to his umbrella. 'I don't mind sharing, it's big enough for both of us.' He adds with a lopsided smile.
I sigh. 'I'm guessing since you're taking the bus now you're going to continue to annoy me?' I say raising my eyebrows. He smiles and shrugs in response. I roll my eyes, and reluctantly stand under the umbrella with him.
The rain patters down onto the umbrella above us, but we stayed dry on the side of the road until the bus pulled in to take us home.
