Close.
XXIII.
You laughed,
You looked into my eyes.
And oh, how yours light up.
They were pulling me in,
Held me hostage,
Close.
So close.
And in some way,
The whole of you always shone.
Your beauty,
All the way from inside,
Stretching to your surface.
Sunlight reaching for other stars,
Passing moons and planets,
Finding nothing near.
You blinked,
Washing away tears.
Ones holding knowledge of years,
As they rushed by.
Ones of memories,
Of freedom and happiness,
Of loneliness and isolation.
You showed them all,
Passing through your facade,
For me.
I wonder,
Which ones do you share now,
And to whom.
Do they care as I did,
Or do they tell you to shut your eyes,
As I never did.
I wonder,
Did you ever forget,
The times holding me,
Close.
I wonder,
How do you manage,
Are you holding anything back,
Or did they free you,
But not me.
And I wonder,
How did you ever accomplish,
Leaving everything you had,
Leaving me,
But not my heart.
But for all I know,
Fly away,
My swan in black.
And as you did,
I layed down,
Sharing none of my blank memories.
As we always did.
I saw you today,
Wearing hearts on your sleaves,
But none of them yours.
Did you realize,
Did you ever see,
That taking others hearts,
Would never get you a new one,
Just a thousand more separate parts.
If you have so many,
Could you let mine go,
So I can give yours back,
The same one I used to hold,
Close.
