006 GLORIOUS FEMININITY :
'the most important day is the day you decide you're good enough for you. it's the day you set yourself free.'
//
Zelda arrives at work with what she wishes was a cup of tea but is actually a bottle of water. stay hydrated folks! she rushes to the quiet kitchen immediately- in need of something hot.
she never had time to eat breakfast since her grandad woke up with a terrible nightmare, had a slight fit and went back to sleep. Zelda had to make sure he was okay so she got him a glass of cold water, took him to the toilet carefully, asked him if he was hungry, gave him a massage even though her eyes were closing.
Zelda couldn't bring herself to eat so she read her daily inspiring quote off the wall, grabbed her bag that needed to be sorted and left the apartment.
Zelda didn't realise that she was too busy staring at the sugar in the jar as she made her hot drink. what made her jump was the fact that Nora walked past swiftly, with her dingy heels and said good morning Zelda! with a lively shout.
Zelda grabs the last apple from the fruit basket and she takes her cup of tea back to her nearby desk. she gets ready for the day by emptying her satchel and opening a new word document. she wonders where Taehyung is because he's not present at the desk behind her.
her frown disappears when a group of people walk past her desk in a pushful matter whilst chattering loudly. they arrive from the direction of the fashion department- enthusiasm on their faces and it's then that she spots a boy with a beret and glasses at the back of his head.
Taehyung immediately approaches Zelda at her desk. he crouches down and a boxy smile is on his face which makes Zelda way too blissful.
"thanks to your flower article they're using flowers for the magazine shoot." he grips her hand and starts to squeal a little- the pink rose behind his ear makes him look like the most aesthetic being.
"speaking of that article ... I still haven't started it." Zelda winces. she's reminded of her low levels of motivation and she takes a loose petal off his head. "i'm finding it really hard Taehyung!"
the charming man rolls his eyes. "go ask the god of flowers."
Zelda frowns, slightly baffled. "and who might that be?"
"Jimin! gosh, Zelda. he's the perfect person to ask. stop being a wimp and go to Flores, ask him out." Taehyung turns Zelda in her swirly chair, spinning her several times which she dislikes.
"are you serious .. I can't just-"
and Taehyung's walking away.
—
Zelda leaves work with a shake of her head as she thinks about Taehyung saying bye to her.
"boo!" Zelda grips Taehyung's shoulders from behind and shakes them slightly.
unfortunately, he doesn't get scared and continues to type away at his big phone with his broad back turned to his work friend.
"just go home and see her." Zelda hits his head playfully. "instead of texting each other- you love birds."
"I know! I'm going in five minutes."
"when will I meet her?" Zelda whines.
"one day my friend, I promise." Taehyung turns around to face Zelda, his phone on top of his desk. "Talulah won't stop nagging me anyway."
"we love happy Tae and Talulah." Zelda sings with a laugh and he nods, agreeing with her. "see you tomorrow."
Talulah is a girl Taehyung has been crazy about ever since college and vice versa. they're a duo that can't stay away from each other and their friends know it. even when they broke up, they always came back to each other. now they're living in their shared apartment together happily. it's a love that was simply meant to be.
"we would love a happy Zelda and Jimin too but-" Taehyung starts.
Zelda sighs as she stands in front of Flores, a little too excited.
she doesn't want to admit it but she thinks she likes Jimin. it's scary and new for her and she's not a fan. the butterflies in her stomach, the crazed feeling, the hope of them seeing each other. what am I getting myself into?- she's started to ask herself in the mirror everyday.
her boots step inside and her eyes immediately look for the blonde boy that she admires. among all the flowers, she spots him sat on a white painted stool- his eyes starting to close.
Zelda can't help but smile- smile at the way his short blonde curls sit on his sleepy head, smile at his eyelashes, smile at how adorable he looks. it's just turned noon, he must be really knackered. she starts to walk out of Flores as quiet as possible but the noisy door bell wakes him up which makes her feel terrible.
Jimin rubs his copper eyes and sits up abruptly. he looks at her and quickly shifts- waking up. "Zelda! hi .. sorry- I'm really sorry."
"don't be." she smiles- reassuring him immediately. "I didn't want to disturb you."
"no no-"
"are you tired?"
"yeah." Jimin sighs- his face falling into a soft smile as he bows his head down. "but I shouldn't be sleeping on the job." he shouts at himself and when brown meets blue, Zelda feels crazed. "what can I get for my favourite customer?"
"favourite customer?" Zelda can't help the unintentional smile that forms on her lips. it's one that makes her cheeks hurt. "is that because I come here everyday?"
"no." Jimin thinks, furrowing his brows a little. he tries to cover up his obvious bias. "it's because you have an epic grandad who loves flowers and their meanings, plus that's the reason why you come here everyday right?" he asks.
"right, yeah." she responds swiftly. and to see you. "I like flowers and their meanings too okay."
Jimin tilts his head cutely- suddenly liking how Zelda wants to impress him. "i'm sure you do." he says with a teasing smile.
"I'll prove it ... look." Zelda takes out her messy drafted article and slides it onto the counter separating the two of them.
Jimin leans forward in curiosity and bewilderment, his fingers on the edge of the paper as his eyes skim the words. he looks up at her with his round eyes wide and he smiles a close lipped smile. "you're writing an article on flowers and their meanings." he states, surprised with obvious joy and humour in his voice. "I wonder where you got that idea from." Jimin smirks- winking at the girl in front of him.
Zelda raises her brows. "yeah I guess I should thank you."
"no I'm kidding ... this is amazing." he looks back at the paper and then at Zelda- staring a little before handing her draft back. "I can't wait to read it when it's finished." thats if i ever finish it- she thinks.
Zelda takes her article, putting it back in her satchel before getting ready to leave. "here." Jimin stretches out a single pretty flower to her. "take this before you go, it's an orchid for you."
and when Zelda arrives home, she uses her internet to find out what the flower means. her heart warms with passion when she realises they are a symbol of love, beauty, and innocence.
