Mickey found that her head had been filled with guilt lately, with the trials and tribulations of right and wrong, and mostly with her position in both Steve and Tony's side. If she was being honest with herself she preferred to be absentminded in these things, instinct was a better decision maker then when she overthought every single thing in her life but sadly this was no longer an option for her.

After arriving to Brussels with Stark and Romanoff via helicopter they'd driven to some compound on the outskirts of the town and had decided to oversee the operation to extract Barnes from there. The brunette didn't understand why they hadn't just flown into the actual compound seeing as how she'd seen a flurry of Helicopters on the roof but her thoughts where then drowned out by the talk of Bucky. The German police were bringing him in, or so they thought, none of these official knew the actual warfare they were about to encounter. If there was one thing Steve Rogers would defy even the devil himself for it was Bucky Barnes.

Mickey had drifted off with the permission of Stark, this was to be the compound they would stay at while figuring out the incident in Austria, he had phrased it very carefully but the young girl understood, this was her new home wether she liked it or not. After hearing that most of the crowd arriving with them would be watching the extraction Mickey realized she could never control that many emotions with so many eyes on her so she had asked Tony to be set free and promptly was allowed to explore.

Explore was putting it loosely however, she instead went for the best view of the entrance to the compound, preferably a place where not much traffic happened. After a few strolls she had finally found the perfect place, a small walking strip that attached two building together, it overlooked the front of the compound and had promptly taken a seat against one of the metal railing supporting the weight.

Mickey knew this would be the way they entered, with police escorts and guns drawn on all of them. She sat, patiently tapping against her thigh and resisting the urge to pull out the small phone hidden at the waistband of her jeans. Tony had explained there was a room waiting for her somewhere in the compound, all her things already organized. She reminded herself to find a good hiding place for the cellphone before settling down.

A set of footsteps followed her through the narrow tunnel until they stopped directly beside her, Mickey finding a pair of loafers and a nice suit beside her before she found Tony Starks face.

Tony eyed her for a moment, her lips pouted with concern and eyes glazing over with worry. He never knew Mickey to be so full of emotional for another person. "You really trust him don't you?"

"I don't think he deserves to be treated like an animal, any of them." Mickey responded sincerely, pressing her hands tighter together.

"Steve's a big boy Mick, he knows better then to take on a full army by himself." Tony attempted to reassure her, sticking his hands into his pockets. The look on her face softened him, a strange sensation but enlightened over the last few years. He cared more for the girl then she would ever know.

"Not when Bucky's life is on the line, he'd take on an entire fleet to keep him safe." She responded. "I know I would if it was my dad."

In response Tony swallowed thickly, staring down at the raven haired female with pride. Mickey was worth more then he ever would have been at her age. Whatever Ross and any other of the SHIELD associates said about her didn't matter because every Avenger knew that she was different, she was better then most of them.

"They've got them." Tony decided to come clean, extending his hand to help her up. "They should be arriving soon."

"Safe?"

"Your precious Captain Underpants and the love of your life are unharmed, they've also brought along the only person able to make you pee your pants so I'd hurry." Tony detailed and although Mickey knew all of this she couldn't help but feel relief as she grasped his hand and pushed up. Tony let go of her hand, the smile across her face warming him. He just needed to say something before they left so he pulled at her elbow before she managed to pull away, "Mick?"

"What?" The brunette answered.

"Convince Cap to sign, help me get him to see light and we can make this whole thing go away. It's not pretty right now."

Mickey knew talking was already a lost cause, Steve would rather be a fugitive then under control. She agreed with Steve with that moral which is likely why she trusted him so much, and although it pained her to do so she nodded to Tony and once more fed him a lie that was quickly getting bigger then she thought.

"WELL!! WELL!! WELL!! Look who is on the other side of handcuffs now!" Mickey declared as she practically skipped across the courtyard once she caught the site of blonde hair.

Steve and Sam turned towards the direction of her loud voice, finding that she was accompanied by a group of unamused attendees. Tony and Nat had pointed her in the direction of Steve's arrival and let her go as they had to answer a few phone calls. General Ross wasn't present either but it seemed that his son Everett Ross had shown up to greet them, he and the group that followed had looks of fury. It was these disappointed gazes that forced the two men to look at the only smile in the place, Mickey.

The brunette didn't seem to care about the hounds of guards surrounding the two or that Prince T'Challa was walking beside them, her eyes zeroed in on them both and strutted right up to them.

She had replayed this scene hundreds of times in her head since Tony had pointed her in the direction, all the different scenarios raged on until she found something that would not draw attention. Officially this was the first time she would see either man in years, and she needed to make it look like it.

Mickey pouted, nose twisting in annoyance as she flicked them both in the center of the chest and crossed her arms, "thanks for the invite, really it's not like I could have gotten all of us out of there unscathed and not in handcuffs." The two men blinked repeatedly at her quick wit, then turned to look at one another as if questioning who would speak first. The teenager didn't give them the time to even process a sentence to speak as she crossed her arms and leaned back to give her attention to the Prince, or the Black Panther, as they'd called him all the way downstairs. Her eyes found that he was already looking at her, his expression unreadable and Mickey being well... Mickey she decided to turn that frown upside down with a genuine blunt remark. "Sir, I would kindly like to offer myself up for one of those catsuits next, claws and all. Uber badass."

Sam and Steve stared at her with dry eyes as she lifted her hands up, "alright fine, geez lighten up you're not going to jail." She rolled her dark brown eyes, and that's when she saw him. He was strapped inside what appeared to Mickey as a glass coffin, held down by thick metal straps it looked like he could barely breathe but when his eyes looked towards hers in a confusing matter she immediately made the connection. Her feet faltered slightly, my how times had changed, his face appeared slightly dirty, with his long hair matted to his forehead and the red long sleeve stained, he didn't look like the feared Winter Soldier anymore. Mickey felt grief overcome her, this was worse then when they'd first met in Washington and the only emotion he had was determination, albeit it was to kill her and the rest of the Avengers but still, anything would be better then the sadness she could see in his blue eyes. Mickey pushed Sam and Steve apart, making a walkway towards him as she muttered, "holy shit, you found Bucky."

She straggled a few more feet, ignoring the armed guards who immediately went on high alert when she got too close for comfort.

"STEP BACK!" One of them finally yelled and she turned in his direction to find the loaded guns pointed at her head.

Mickey's arched brows furrowed and her eyes narrowed but she never got to respond as Steve pulled her back and behind him. The gun was now aimed at his chest as he intervened, "put the gun down! She's just a kid!"

Mickey narrowed her eyes, finding Sam now stepping in as well.

The guards didn't lower their guns, merely glancing at one another and then the same one speaking very rudely. "She should know better then to try and get near the Winter Soldier."

"He has a name!" Mickey growled, shoving past Sam and taking her original position. "Respect him as such and I won't use my powers to shove that automatic up your asshole! Now get that thing out of my face!"

"Mickey!" Steve scolded her, attempting to push her back and stop from further escalating the situation.

"Alright that's enough!" Everett Ross finally broke in, appearing annoyed as he waved to the gunmen to retreat. "Take Barnes away."

Steve turned towards the smaller man, walking towards him. Sharon was alongside him although both barely paid attention to one another. "What's gonna happen to him?"

Everett Ross was clearly no fan of Captain America, his response was short and stern. "Same thing that ought to happen to you. Psychological evaluation and extradition."

Mickey scoffed at his response, standing beside Sam who was in the middle. He looked down towards her small gesture and a smile twitched on his lips before disappearing and concentrating on the matter.

Sharon introduced the two former Avengers to the man. "This is Everett Ross, Deputy Task Force Commander."

Steve didn't seem to care as they watched their suits and weapons be pulled out from the truck and taken into the large building where more then likely they would be pulled into a safe no one would be able to get into. The blonde male spoke once more with slight agitation. "What about our lawyer?"

Ross found it funny as he scoffed, "Lawyer. That's funny. See their weapons are placed in lockup. Oh, we'll write you a receipt."

Sam fisted his hands, watching as Ross left the conversation at that and turned, leaving them to follow him inside. "I better not look out the window and see anybody flying around in that."

Steve trailed slightly behind, watching as his friend was towed away but Mickey grabbed the hem of his shirt and pulled him along. A sincere smile appeared on her lips as she responded, "you'll get him back Steve, even if I have to break him out myself. Now come on, let's go annoy Tony!"

"I don't understand why they put a see through room in the middle of another room and also why we aren't in there." Mickey tapped her foot impatiently, eyes trained on Tony and Steve who seemed to be having a very heated discussion. It didn't take a genius to figure out what they were discussing but even so she along with Sam were stuck outside as onlookers.

"Tony is in there trying to convince Steve to join the accords, he doesn't need you in there making sassy remarks or asking questions about Bucky. And as for the first question I have no idea, it's stupid though." Sam was leaned against the wall with her, both kept to themselves seeing as how it seemed everyone else kept eyeing them with hatred. Neither understood why, well actually Mickey did and she could care less but either way they seemed to be on the outs of everything.

"Don't worry, as soon as Tony is done you two will be sent in there." Sharon came up to them, casually typing away at the computer besides them as to not attract attention.

"Why?" Mickey raised a brow but kept her eyes on the the conference room.

"Because Ross doesn't need you interfering in his affairs or getting up to things on your own." Sharon eyed Mickey on the last part.

"That's ridiculous." Sam scoffed.

"No," Mickey shook her head, "he's scared of us. Good, he should be." She kicked off the wall, watching as the conversation drew to a close and Tony stood to walk out. She met him at the double doors.

Stark looked at the teenage girl, an unreadable expression on her face as she looked behind him and then back to his face. "No luck?"

"What gave it away?" He sassed back, placing a hand on her shoulders as he exhaled quickly. His eyes came back to her and there was now a softer expression, one that Mickey didn't quite understand but had seen often lately. He squeezed the top of her shoulder and said, "maybe you can make him see reason."

She nodded her head, refusing to lie through her teeth to him and instead marched up the steps. Once inside she waited until the doors were shut to step forward, Steve had taken a seat and was looking impatiently at the wooden table, not acknowledging the brunette who huffed lowly and went to take a seat across from him.

"Does Tony really think you can convince me?" Steve muttered, looking up at her. She didn't look much different to the girl he had seen a few hours ago. Her clothes had changed, she wore a grey white long sleeved and ripped jeans now, her hair had also been pushed behind her ears and the small specks of ash she'd had across her face had now been wiped away. She looked more like her age then ever before.

"Well maybe if I cry a little and beg you with a pretty please at the end you will," Mickey retorted, a smile forming at the end when she thought over her ridiculous notion. Steve was raised to be a gentlemen which meant he probably would have if she asked in the right way. "I got you to stop and buy me a KitKat on our way to the Fort back in the states."

He rolled his eyes with a slight chuckle, slowly letting go of his anger, "the only reason I did that was because you actually threatened to jump out of the car."

"I could threaten to jump off the building now?" She suggested.

Steve once more laughed, although it was short lived as he grew serious, "Mickey... how's everything here?"

"Besides General Ross threatening to have me lobotomized? Peachy keen." She snorted but Steve's face suddenly began to grow angry again and she backtracked. Her tiny palm patted his wrist and then squeezed, "Im fine Steve. I can handle this, whatever it is going to be."

"So does that mean you're sticking with me?" Steve questioned the girl.

Mickey smiled, "of course, you know the good guy thing really isn't for me." The door to the small room opened and Sam came in, making sure to shut the doors behind them. Mickey was confident there were no cameras inside the small room and since no one on the outside seem to be paying them attention she leaned back and looked at them both. "So, where's my dad?"

"Haven't talked to him?" Sam questioned.

She shook her head, an ache in her chest at the question. "Haven't had the chance, with Ross trailing me if I pulled out my phone now my dad would be caught within a day. I'd rather not risk his life."

"He said the same about you." Steve responde, the ghost of a smile on his lips.

"Id rather risk my own freedom then my dad's." She muttered back. "Where did you leave him?"

"We put him on a train headed for Berlin, any significance?" Sam said lowly, sitting down as well.

"None except he's more then likely headed for Russia right about now." Mickey didn't have to think much about the answer.

"Russia? What's there?"

"Old friends of his, people who are more ghosts then any of us can ever get. He'll contact you eventually." She answered, already knowing of her father's fondness for the lands of endless snow.

Their conversation didn't go for much further as the large tv inside their room turned on and from outside Tony and Nat also joined the crowd watching from the bigger screens.

The image was Bucky, still strapped down but now someone else was coming into the frame. The tv was muted, no sound escaping and the trio looked beyond irritated but paid attention.

Sharon stepped into the room the , two sets of papers in her hands. "The receipt for your gear." She handed them both to Sam who didn't waste a moment to look them over.

"Bird costume? Come on." He scoffed at the writing and looked back towards the agent who was now walking over to the only panel in the room.

"I didn't write it." She shrugged her shoulders and then quickly tapped her fingers against the keys before the audio of Bucky's evaluation was heard.

The psychologist spoke in a foreign accent, one Mickey couldn't pinpoint but listened nonetheless. "I'm not here to judge you. I just want to ask you a few questions. Do you know where you are, James? I can't help you if you don't talk to me, James."

"My name is Bucky." The prisoner clarified, either bored or tired of the situation.

Steve's attention seemed to have drifted off to a set of pictures placed on the table. They were of Bucky, before the explosion and the ones that had been blasted through every media outlet in the world. "Why would the Task Force release this photo to begin with?"

Sharon glanced over, "Get the word out, involve as many eyes as we can?"

Steve nodded, accepting the answer as fact. "Right. It's a good way to flush a guy out of hiding. Set off a bomb, get your picture taken. Get seven billion people looking for the Winter Soldier."

"You're saying someone framed him to find him."

"Steve, we looked for the guy for two years and found nothing." Sam also added.

"He did bomb the UN. That turns a lot of heads." The blonde hero clarified.

"Yeah, but that doesn't guarantee that whoever framed him would get him. It guarantees that we would."

Mickey's attention had been focused on the interview, watching the evaluator carefully and feeling the hairs on the back of her neck standing straight up. She shifted, standing straighter as the conversation went on

"Tell me, Bucky. You've seen a great deal, haven't you?"

Bucky didn't look at the man, "I don't want to talk about it."

"You fear that... if you open your mouth, the horrors might never stop." The evaluator paused off screen and no one can see what he does before he goes on. "Don't worry. We only have to talk about one."

This didn't seem right, Mickey thought to herself as the room both inside and outside grew quiet.

Suddenly the power in the building went out, the screen going black and everyone bolted to their feet. Mickey was the first to speak, "what the hell is going on!"

Outside everyone was frantically attempting to navigate the servers back online.

The four inside the conference room looked at each other helplessly and then stared down the only person who could possibly have any information. Sharon pursed her lips together, flickering her outside once more before quickly muttering to Steve. "Sub-level 5, east wing."

He didn't need another word as he quietly filed out of the chaos alongside Sam. Mickey went to follow, silently thanking Nat for allowing her to change on the airplane when Sharon caught her arm. She looked up, reminding herself that it was because of Agent Carter her father was still free and she actually liked the blonde women, a string of curses were pushed back when she thought this over. Her teeth grit as she coolly said, "I have to help."

"Tony said we can't let you out of this room and if Ross sees you've disappeared he'll stick you into one of those chambers." Sharon told the young girl, allowing her arm to release.

"I'm not just allowing them to be slaughtered when Bucky goes all Winter Soldier on him, Steve can't defend himself against Bucky, you know this." Mickey responded, much calmer then before.

"Steve nor Bucky need to have the guilt of flinging you off the roof. Mickey you're a teenager," Sharon retorted and the brunette seemed to have stopped advancing to the door so she sucked in a cool breath and turned towards the door. "At the very least let's find out what's happening."

The moment they stepped out of the small room it seemed like hell had really broken loose and anything Sharon had said before was now off the table.

Everett Ross passed them, speaking on a small radio he yelled, "evac all civilians. Get me a perimeter around the building, and gunships in the air."

"Okay maybe they do need help." Sharon muttered and then grabbed the teenager wrist, rushing towards Tony and Natasha.

Natasha was keeping up with Tony as fast as possible. "Please tell me you brought a suit."

Tony nodded his head and sarcastically stated. "Sure did. It's a lovely Tom Ford, three-piece, two-button. I'm an active-duty non-combatant."

Sharon and Mickey finally caught up, the blonde running past them and yelling, "Follow me."

They ran until they came upon the mess halll where Barnes was making his way and people were running. Some security members attempted to bring him down but unfortunately this was to no avail. Tony skidded to a stop, bringing the three women with him. "What's the plan?"

"Attack," Mickey stated. "Unless you want to have small talk with him first."

"Okay 1. The sarcasm is not welcome and 2. I meant them not you!" Tony stated. And when she only managed to give him a confused stare he clarified with an eye roll. "You are not fighting this."

"Are you kidding me!" She hissed a little louder.

"Mickey..."

"Tony..."

"Anthony!"

"Micaela!"

"That is not even my name!"

"Are you two really doing this right now!" Natasha silently yelled as Bucky took out the security guards with ease.

The two stood their ground until finally Mickey gave in with an eye roll, "I'm going to the roof!"

"Why?" Tony immediately questioned, finding that he didn't want to put her in the fight but also having her out of eyesight wasn't something he wanted either.

"How the hell else do you think he's gonna escape here! He's one of the most recognized faces in the world and you don't think hydra wouldn't have taught him how to escape!"

"Good point, go!" Tony nodded and watched as she ran off, safely away from the danger, hopefully.

It took Mickey longer then usual to find the entrance to the roof, normally she could have just opened a portal to get there but since she hadn't seen anything other then the helicopters that was out of the question. Once her sneakers managed to touch the concrete room she headed straight for the only helicopter available. She practically ripped the door off and jumped into the pilots seat, her mind rambled on attempting to figure out where the wire box could be and then from there hoped to just rip everything to shreds.

"Breaking dad out was easier then this," she grumbled to herself and proceeded to start ripping pulling at compartment.

Mickey unfortunately didn't get very far because a few seconds later the door to the small aircraft was being opened and she was being yanked out. The grasp on the back of her shirt was ruthless as it pulled her with ease and threw her across the graveled walkway. She landed with a slight "oomph" from her mouth, body aching slightly from its impact.

Mickey was resilient and looked up long enough to turn the ground under the Winter Soldiers feet into a portal, he dropped further behind her, hitting the floor just as hard as she did. With a rolled kick to the air she was on her knees and then lifting to her hands, fists flying up to prepare for a fight. She wasn't as strong as Bucky, that was for certain, but her father had showed her enough fighting moves to keep alive. All that training combined with her own powers should be enough to even the odds with Bucky or at the very least keep him distracted while help came.

Bucky jumped to his feet, face void of emotion as he lurched towards the young girl. Mickey ducked the first lunge, his metal arm having aimed straight for her head. She disappeared from his site, dropping into a portal that ended directly behind him and left the winter soldier confused. She kicked with all her force, sending him stumbling. Bucky managed to gain his balance long enough to turn and catch the fist Mickey aimed at his head. She was fast, jamming her knee into his abdomen and using the moment he was hunched over to push further away from the helicopter. Bucky was fast to recover as he reached for her incoming second kick and caught it, Mickey felt her stomach drop as she watched his jaw tense.

He threw her like a rag doll, sending her flying back into the wall of the staircase. Mickey's eyes blew out in pure agony as the air escaped her lungs and she clawed for an ounce of relief. Her watered eyes grew blurry until all she could make out was the small movements she noticed of the Winter Soldier who seemed to stare at her fallen form for a moment too long, she couldn't tell if this was to finish killing her or if the real Bucky had shifted back but it seemed not to matter as he turned away and headed for the helicopter.

The next moments were silent, Miriam's hearing drifting further away and her conscious slipping. She thought another set of footsteps approached just moments after but unfortunately she was already losing the battle to sleep. The rumble of the ground also became apparent but she could have cared less at that point.

What a shitty way to go out, her final thought was this and in some strange way she found humor in it all.
