"MR. STARK THIS SUIT IS AMAZING!" Peter Parker was like an overzealous kid as he tried on his new Spider-Man suit. His words were crystal clear and loud even as he dangled off the roof of the training room. The spider web he had made kept him up and he balanced perfectly even as he continued to glide and jump.
Tony smiled softly as he watched the kid filled with wonder and a gentle happiness, "Yeah well that's what I'm known for."
Peter continued to jump through the room, practically flying as not once did he stumble or miss a shot. He was having the time of his life, crawling on the ceiling or actual walls as if they were the ground. Mickey watched in both awe and slight worry the longer he went. Peter was good, he was fast and stealthy, every jump he took was confident and the force he used seemed only minuscule.
She worried over this and then some more as she thought about the previous day.
God she already missed Steve, Sam, and even Bucky. Sharon held even a little heartache as the blonde had walked off and not been seen since. The missing weapons had not yet been uncovered but she had no doubt the time was ticking and there was bound to be some suspicious.
Mickey looked around bored and annoyed, sure Peters excitement was slightly infectious but all she could think of was Steve's team. She wondered where they were and just what was their plan of execution. The brunette pondered this and many more ideas, her craving to be in her true nature was personifying more and more each day. She was like a caged animal now and the days could not have come quicker.
Her eyes diverted from the flying spider man to the bench beside her where Tony Stark came to sit. He quickly tucked his cell phone into his pocket, tapping the material of his nice pants to make sure it was present before looking towards the brunette. Tony had certainly noticed her change in demeanor lately, he would have been a fool not too. She was observant now, less outspoken then before and he had many ideas as to why that was.
He wasn't a fool, despite the short years he had actually known the teenage girl there was still things he had picked up on quickly. Like for instance now her demeanor was actively low, which was odd for the brunette considering she had seemed to take a liking to the Spider-Man, and yet her eyes barely seemed to watch him now. Tony however decided that maybe it wasn't the right moment to speak to her over it, given all the other needs that required attention perhaps Mickey was feeling overwhelmed.
He leaned back, there was so much he needed to tell her, so much more that she needed to be aware of but the words wouldn't come out. Tony breathed deeply and decided to her again push the conversation back. "I need you to watch him, maybe even train him."
Mickey eyes the flying man and raised an eyebrow, "pretty sure he doesn't need me to train him."
"Yes he does, you've gone up against Barnes and Rogers, give him a few pointers." Tony countered and watched as she have no reaction.
Instead her eyes flickered back to the kid, "suppose I can give him a few tricks."
"And while you do that I have to go see Romanoff about a certain prince." Tony muttered and stood. He looked at her and noticed that even with the prospect of ass kicking a smile hadn't uplifted. He furrowed his brows and looked down, "Mickey, are you okay?"
Mickey lifted her head up and blinked a few times, of corse he had noticed, she thought to herself and mentally cursed herself for being glum. "I'm fine, I'm just worried is all."
The words weren't entirely a lie which made it seem that much more convincing but even so they felt like lies and she swallowed the lump that rose in her throat when Tony reached over and patted her shoulder. "Don't worry kid, we'll get this sorted out. Cap will just have to see it's for the best."
But it's not, she thought and smiled instead of agreeing with him.
Tony walked off without a second guess and left the brunette to herself. She sighed and lifted off the bench, clapping her hands against her knees.
"Yo spider kid!" She yelled loudly and gained the attention of Peter who was making it his mission to crawl around the entire ceiling. Crossing her arms and tapping her foot impatiently she awaited him as he dropped to the ground in front of her.
Peter pulled the mask off, showing his sweaty face to the girl who couldn't help but smile. "Did you just call me spider-kid?"
"Yup," Mickey popped the "p" in the word and slowly prowled, walking around him. Peter's eyes followed her, head moving until he couldn't see her and he'd snapped his head to look in the other direction. "What are you gonna do about it?" And she bumped her hip with his own rather harshly, causing Peter to nearly trip.
"Uhh," Peter swallowed harshly as she once more came to stand in front of him. Her catlike eyes were like vice grips, refusing to allow him even to breath. Peter thought she was as beautiful as she was dangerous and for that he couldn't form words. Everything about Mickey was as mysterious as the deep wood color of her eyes, he could never quite tell what was gonna happen next. "Why are you doing this?"
"Do you really think you've got what it takes to go up against Captain America, Bucky Barnes, or even Sam Wilson for that matter? These guys have got years of experience and what do you have? A few months fighting petty thieves around your block? Come on Peter, use common sense." Mickey drawled slowly, each word biting into Peters core.
She was right of course, he relied on his senses mostly to get jobs done but those guys and even her had been up against the worst of the worst, some even he had never heard about. Just looking at her poker face let him know that for her none of those victories had been easy. Peter however kept his stance because although she was intimidating and she had every right to be, he still wouldn't show her it. "I think I fit the qualifications."
Mickey chuckled lowly, stepping closer, her hand placed itself gently on his shoulder so as to not alarm him, "qualifications now hmm?" And without warning she shoved with all her force so he would stumble back. Peter's instincts were quick, and before he lost balance entirely his legs were already springing back so he did a back handspring and landed on his two feet again. Mickey was gone at this point, no trace of her once he'd stood straight, until he felt her heels clapping against the wooden floors again behind him. Her low drawl of a voice sent the back of his neck on edge, "my father once told me a story when he was training me. He said in life there was always predator and prey, no matter what one did in life they were one or the other but you should always aim to be the prey. And he gave me a solid reason after I scoffed; if the lion is the apex predator and the snake is the prey then the lion has no reason to try hard while the snake has everything to lose so he fights with his life. He is vicious, he is slick, he is as bold as the dying words of a man. The predator has the advantage but the prey has the desperation. So think of everyone as the predator and you'll never lose."
Peters mouth ran dry as he spoke before thinking, "is that how you'll think when we go after Captain America and his friends?" Mickey blinked, perplexed by the question and taking a step back. She had never expected him to say that. Peter must have guessed her expression as his eyes slipped and he looked back up with a gentle manner. "Mr. Stark told me about—"
Mickeys eyes narrowed as he was about to tread into dangerous water and her blood boiled when she thought of Tony telling him everything in her past it made her hands suddenly tingle with power. She shut her eyes and sucked in a long breath, silencing the teenager beside her. "Of course he would have told you."
She figured he was slightly jealous of her relationship with Steve, after all she had left him the one and only way to find her and when presented with the chance of saving one of them had chosen Steve but of course she had her reasons which Peter very likely didn't know about.
"Steve Rogers is a good man, he treated me with kindness when Tony hated my guts. Even after all the shit I did and people I let get killed he always saw the good in me which is why I'm here," she clarified and again she spoke with simple words, teetering around her true intention. Peter was smart, extremely so, but even he could not decipher her own words.
"I didn't know that," peter admitted softly.
She sighed and tilted her head, "of course you didn't. Tony only tells you the basic amount which is why you should stop allowing yourself to be convinced so easily, he's a good guy but Tony's got his own agenda like everyone else—don't ever forget that. You're cute, but so naive, it'll get you killed in this world if you don't catch on."
Peter was so focused on the last few words and the mention of him being cute and a gullible idiot with a death wish that he barely noticed when sirens started to go off above their heads. Mickey on the other hand seemed barely bothered by her own words, she'd flat out admitted her attraction to him and yet she let it slide like it was nothing. When the alarms began to blare her head cocked up, short black hair glaring as her perfectly shaped eyebrows lifted, "its time. They've been found. Come on!"
She grabbed Peter's wrist and started towing him out of the training room, running at a fast pace that was only able to yank the Spider-Man out of his thoughts and to catch up with the last few seconds. His eyes bulged, and he pulled them to a stop, "wait— what? What time is it?"
Mickey grew slightly annoyed with his slowness and turned her head, dark eyes vamped with energy as she felt her skin tingle. "We're going after Steve—it's time to fight."
"How are you so sue this will be a fight?" Peter swallowed the panic.
"Because everything is with the avengers, it's the whole reason we are in this mess in the first place. Now are you going to keep blabbing or are you gonna help?" She forcibly stayed and turned, running down the hall.
Peter thought about it for a moment, focusing on the surge of adrenaline somehow she'd transferred to him in those short words. He was going to help, he thought, he definitely was.

"Are you nervous?" Peter questioned the brunette as he two waited in the hellicarrier. They weren't far off from the airport that Steve and his crew were currently running through. Apparently the super soldier had made more then enough allies to rival their own forces, Wanda had been broken out of her prison, Clint had come out of retirement, and even a new player named Ant-Man had flown in for the battle royale. They were all ready for a fight, just like the opposite side.
Mickey had been left alone with Peter, the rest of the team having gone outside and left her to deal with the clearly nervous teenager.
"No, I've done this before." She stayed bluntly, securing her own suit that Tony had surprised her with. It was pretty standard, similar to Natasha's except hers had grey detailing. Once upon a time Tony had gifted her a similar one when they had fought Ultron, this one moved with her own energy and did not slow her down like regular clothes.
"But this time they are your friends," peter stated.
"Yeah, I know that." She swallowed thickly and kept cool. "Doesn't mean it's any different." Her eyes finally flickered over to Peter who was now looking at her oddly, like something was picking at him. "What?"
"Nothing— it's just I have this feeling," he stuttered.
"Like what?"
"Like something big is gonna happen, and it's not gonna go as smoothly as Mr. Stark has planned. It's itching me," he stated. And then met her eyes, "it's stupid but I call it my spidey senses, they're tingling."
"Spidey senses," she restated and bit her bottom lip to keep from smiling. Admittedly the idea was kind of stupid but it was also adorable, and she had to admit hearing Peter state it just made the idea a bit cuter. She pressed her hand on top of his own, "I like it, but you may be right."
"Why do you say that?" He questioned.
Mickey felt wrong lying to him now, she liked Peter more then she cared to admit and in the few days they'd spent together she saw something in him that she would very likely never see in herself, an innocence. He was so optimistic, so hopeful—she wondered what it was like and although her life was young and there was still hope for change the brunette new deep down that her life would always be a torment on the run.
Her lips pressed together as she sucked in cold air and once more skated around the idea, "just—watch yourself okay. Steve and his crew, they have more tricks up their sleeve then even Tony will be able to handle."
With that in mind she stood and readied her mind, saying a silent farewell to Peter as he would likely never talk to her again after the new hour.
