16. 'Uncle'?

Bangalore

Adil's POV:

"What's up? Why are you sulking?" I asked Sameer, who has been upset since morning. Even while I was discussing with Yousuf Uncle, he was unusually quiet and didn't interfere with his father.

Usually he likes to poke in Uncle's nose when we discuss something. It is their relationship; they behave more like friends with each other than like a typical father-son.

"Nothing, Bro, not in a mood," he said again, going into his sulking state.

"Hey, why are you behaving like a heartbroken Devdas? Wait! You have become a Devdas already. Am I right, or am I right?"

"No one asked you to apply your law skills. Shut up!" he yelled again.

"Woah, 'Hahaha' So 'Hahaha' it is 'Hahaha' about 'Hahaha' a girl 'Hahaha' " I tried to control my laugh, but it automatically got released.

Witnessing Sameer Yousuf sulking for a girl is not a sight you see daily. "Just shut up and leave from here!" Sameer yelled again. Now I have to zip my mouth.

Sitting beside him and placing a hand on his shoulder, I asked, "Who is she, and what's the matter?"

"It's none of your business; get lost," he said, jerking my shoulder, he got up to leave the room. The water has risen, so I quickly got up and pressed my hand on his shoulder tightly so he could not leave.

"Comeon, Bro, I have come here, leaving Affu Di and Danish jiju at home ; let's play cricket at least." I dragged him out of the room; this time he let me drag him.

We came downstairs, and I unlocked Sameer's car to sit. Yes, he will drop me off in return. Why would I take a U-turn and drop him?

As we were on the way, Sameer turned to my side and stared at me from head to toe. "What happened? Why are you staring?" I jerked at him and tried to cover myself with one hand as another was busy steering.

"Argghhh, shut up!" he yelled again and turned to the other side. What's with his behavior of yelling at me? "You will look like a joker playing cricket in a three-piece suit," he said, turning and smirking at me, making me look at myself. Indeed, I will look like a corporate joker.

"I was turning to go home first and change clothes." I covered myself and turned to the other side of Raza Mansion.

"Yeah, yeah, sure sure," he mocked and turned to the other side to continue his sulking. What is with his sulking? Now I am fed up.

"Won't you get in?"

"No, I am happy here. You need to change. Go and change and come fast," he replied, continuing to scroll his phone.

Leaving Sameer, I got down and went inside to see that Ammi, Affu Di, and Aru Mamma were seriously gossiping and telling them about my plans. I went upstairs.

First, I took out the cricket kit and later changed myself into a white t-shirt with black stripes and black sweat pants and hoodies matching black sneakers and a polo cap.

(Adil's outfit)

Author's POV:

"Arey yaar, we lost one more wicket," Adil cried as Sameer got duck out.

"Who called these uncles on our team? One has injured his leg, and the other has gotten duck-out," Bhasker, the captain of the team, commented, igniting fire in both of them.

"Yeh, who did you call Uncle?" Sameer countered back.

"To you and your friend, what will you do?" Bhasker replied angrily. Sameer grabbed his collar and was about to hit him. Adil quickly got up from his chair and stopped him.

"How dare you hit me?" Bhasker was about to raise his closed fist to punch Sameer.

"Sorry, Macha (Bro), but Sameer didn't hit you; he just grabbed your collar, and I guess this much will be fine in between friends. Macha, I have even sprained my ankle for our team." Adil smartly diverted Bhaskar, took Sameer, and slowly skidded off from the ground.

As both friends came near the parking area, they started glaring at each other.

"Who told you to start the fight?"
"Why did you stop me?"
Adil and Sameer shouted at each other.

"He called us Uncle, and who is he? An infant. He may be a year or two younger than us; that's it. Still, he called us Uncle?" Sameer whined and next yelled, looking at the direction of the ground where Bhasker was instructing his team members.

"Leave it; it is just a game, and he is a stranger whom we met just now. Ignore him." Adil tried to cool his friend's ego, though equally he was offended by the comment, 'Uncle'.

After glaring at each other for a few minutes, both of them smiled.

"I was not in a mode today, but what about you? How did you not see the stone and bend your ankle?" Sameer asked Adil, who was about to cross a boundary, but he was unable to see a big stone and got slipped off, spraining his ankle and getting clean bowled from the wicketkeeper.

"Bro, should I concentrate on the stone or the wicket while running?" Adil covered his back, but the reality was different.

"It's fine." Sameer knew Adil was trying to cover the topic, but he didn't want to push further.

Both of them leaned at Sameer's car bonnet and looked at the entrance of the cricket ground, thinking about something else.

"By the way, who is the girl for whom you became Devdas?" Adil asked, still gazing at the entrance.

"Someone, when she was present, I didn't know her value, and recently my heart has realized feelings for her, and the destiny is that she is not here to even confess my feelings." Sameer finally confronted his love and later again turned upset.

"So I was right; Mr. Sameer Yousuf has fallen in love. Congratulations!" Adil smiled and turned towards his friend, ignoring the last statement.

"Is this a blush of yours? Adil exclaimed in shock, seeing Sameer's ears turn crimson.

"SHUT UPPPP. Come, let's have coffee and fill our stomachs with something." Sameer tried to control his smile and turned towards the driver's seat to sit.

"You are giving me a treat," Adil laughed, turning to the other side to sit in the passenger seat.

"If she is meant to be, you will marry her. Just believe in Allah SWT", Adil tries to boost up Sameer, who is still down.

"Ameen," he said, nodding to Adil. He sipped his untouched filter coffee, and the waiter came up with their dinner, which is actually a breakfast item called Benne Masala Dosa (a popular South Indian breakfast item in Karnataka).

"You tell me, what happened to you when you went to change your outfit?" Sameer asked, to which Adil just widens his eyes, bringing a smirk to Sameer's face. Both are notorious lawyers for a reason; they can easily decipher a person's facial expressions.

"Don't know, Bro, I wish I knew the reason," Adil voiced out the uncertainty he had been feeling for the past few hours. When he reached home to change his clothes, his heart felt a sense of bloom, which he felt a few years ago when he saw her for the first time.

"I got it. This happens only when -----." Sameer paused his statement to see Adil, who was looking at him curiously. "When you are either in love or possessed, looking at you, it's like you are possessed by a beautiful jinn (spirit)," Sameer jokingly commented, making Adil rage with fire.

"Youuuuuuuu, I won't leave you," stating Adil, stood up to punch Sameer, which expertly got dodged off by Sameer, who is laughing like there is no tomorrow. Alhamdulillah, there are almost negligible people at the place; otherwise, they would have thought that two patients had run out of the mental hospital.

After the completion of their dinner banter at the eatery, Sameer dropped Adil off and drove to his house. Today's events and the sprain wearied Adil, so he quickly took a quick shower and drifted into his sleepy land. Unknown to him, the ladies in his house are on the mission of searching for his bride.
