Betrothed
Once upon a time there lived a beautiful princess. Her hair was long and thick and...wait...pink...her eyes pink and pupils were split...yeah you know what? Screw it.
Let's not sugarcoat things.
Jinx was a troublemaker. Pulled pranks, she stole from the local markets, made alliances with outlaws, and almost destroyed all remaining faith anyone had in the family name.
Her father was a very wealthy man. He was a good king who listened and learned, and did not pretend to know everything as some selfish, arrogant kings do.
But he always wanted his daughter to be perfect. He wanted her to pick a nice prince and settle down, maybe learn her place. He just wasn't going to stand by while Jinx ruined her life. To him, Jinx needed to be reminded she was just the agreeable daughter and nothing less, nothing more.
So he signed an agreement with a kingdom in the west. She was to be betrothed to Wallace Rudolf West. (Lol get it he's a west and he lives in the west? I'll stop now...)
Then they were to meet. They actually got along well, what with both of their parents pressuring them to be perfect and not being able to turn to anyone about it.
Wally West actually loved her. Jinx had a small crush, but she tried to ignore it and focus on the task at hand. The king was still making wedding arrangements.
But you see, Jinx wasn't going to let that happen. When she was informed of this, she made a plan. She wasn't sure, but she'd been involved in worse things. She used her jewelry, a gift from a friend, to do the job.
It was a pink crystal on her ring. It was beautiful and sparkled like the glassy lake waters on a sunny day. But it opened into a small container of you pressed the right part. In the container, was a poison.
She sprinkled the powder into his wine. It was undetectable after it sunk in.
But instead of drinking his wine, the king went to the party he'd set up for the guests.
(The guard actually drank the wine while the king wasn't looking, but it was poisoned so he flopped onto the floor like a fish on the deck and died. Lol and nobody even noticed.)
Wally felt awkward around Jinx. He didn't know how to act. He knew she didn't want this marriage. What if she just didn't like him.
So every once in a while Jinx would come back to her room and find a rose tied to the lantern in the wall by her door. No note. No name. Just a simple rose.
Every night Jinx would wait in the corner of the hall to see who'd been sending the flowers. Wally was caught rose-handed. He didn't know the silence would be worse than the noise. He was nervous how she'd react.
Yeah.
Well he got a kiss.
They never wanted to rule. But when they were old enough, they ran away. They got married in a small town far to the south. It was small. They didn't have a castle or fancy clothes.
But they were happy.
( I am not happy. My sister won't clean her room and I here mom yelling at her help me my house is hell....)
(Literally hell....)
