Robin sat at the kitchen counter, staring at the food Megan made. Like earlier, he pushed it around his plate, not eating much.

"Are you sure you feel well, Robin?" Kaldur asked. "It is not like you to play with your food."

"How do we know it's not like him?" Artemis cut in before Robin could defend himself. "We don't even know his real name."

A sharp pain shot through Robin's chest at the tone. He couldn't be mad, not really. He knew more about Artemis than they knew about him, and he was including Wally in that. How many things had he lied to his best friend about?

"Artemis, enough. I am sure he would tell us if Batman seemed it safe to. There must be a good reason for his identity to be kept secret."

"I heard the circus is in town," Wally said suddenly, breaking the awkward tension hanging in the air. "Maybe we can go check it out."

"Haly will let us in early to look around." Robin took a small bite of food. Part of him wanted to go, but another part screamed not to. It was one thing to go undercover, but Haly would definitely recognize him. As much as Robin loved the man, he knew he could blurt things out when he got too excited.

"Isn't that the guy we investigated for those robberies?" Megan asked.

Connor nodded. "I still think it's a bit suspicious. How did that guy stay there so long without getting noticed? If you know it all, the guy probably has a whole bunch of villains working-"

Robin slammed his hands on the counter. "Haly would never do that. He was cleared of all wrongdoing."

"My friend, you must admit there are still some circumstances surrounding that case that lend substance to what Connor is saying." Kaldur said. Robin scowled.

"Well, if you want to go harass an innocent man that's your business, not mine. I'm going home." As Robin walked away, Wally sighed.

"Good job, guys. No. Great job, really."

"Wally, leave it alone. Are you going with them or with me?" Robin didn't stop, not when he said that nor when Wally didn't follow.

When he reappeared in the Bat-Cave he ripped his sunglasses off and scrubbed at his eyes. "He's not a criminal."

"Who's not a criminal? And why do you have a cast on?"

Dick froze and looked at Bruce. His guardian hadn't turned, but Dick knew that didn't mean anything.

"It's nothing, Bruce."

"Would you rather have me look back at the security footage? Because then I have to tell the rest of the League."

Dick sighed and walked over. "Artemis thinks Haly had something to do with the robberies, that he was working with Parasite."

"You and I know he wasn't. Haly's a good man. What's with the cast?"

"My hands slipped on the trapeze and I hit the net wrong. Well, or the net was too taut. It might've been that one because Connor was in charge of adjusting it."

"Neon pink?"

"Wally's choice, not mine."

Bruce turned back to the computer, but Dick stayed where he was. "Is there something else you want?"

"Can I go to the circus?"

"No performing. Take your utility belt. And if there's any trouble call me and I'll send the Team. Luckily I provid most of the League's funding so getting them to rescue you won't be too hard."

"Thanks, Bruce!" Dick smiled. He rushed away to change into different clothes, and when he came back he found forty dollars sitting near the Zeta Tube. "You know they won't charge me for admission and food."

"Buy yourself a stuffed elephant and some new posters. Your walls are pretty bare since you took down the ones of your parents." The last sentence held an emotion Dick couldn't recognize, so he assigned it disappointed. After all, he finds himself on the receiving end of that tone a lot down in the Bat-Cave.

"Okay. I'll bring you back some fried food."

Dick was already gone when Bruce responded. He reappeared in a broken phone booth. He took a deep breath and stepped out.

It wasn't hard to find the circus, sitting just outside of town. The Big Top a familiar landmark to him, stood out against the background. Dick hummed along softly to the music as he stood in line.

After a while, he got tired of waiting and broke away from the line. It wasn't like he was there for the show anyway. He walked through the animals, smiling as the elephant brushed her trunk over his head. A lot of circuses might've been cruel to their animals, but Haly made sure they were treated well.

"Haly!" Dick yelled, running over to the man.

"Dickiebird?" Haly grabbed him under the arms and swung him to carry his momentum. "What are you doing here?"

"I wanted to come visit. I mean I can't perform. I fell and fractured my arm. I've went on with worse, but I don't think Bruce realizes how the show has to go on." It might not have been the best practice in the world, but if one person in the group was out, then they couldn't do their act. Dick had seen his father do an act with one arm in a cast before.

Did his father get yelled at by the doctor after that? Yes, yes he did.

"It's fine. We weren't planning any aerial shows anyway. We haven't found anyone to replace the Danger's yet." Haly winked. Dick smiled. "I need to get to the ring. You can head backstage or go get some food. Tell you what. Go get us some funnel cake tell them I sent you, and if they give you trouble just throw some Romanian at them. That should get someone to recognize you." Haly ruffled Dick's hair.

Haly walked away, and Dick went to go get them food.

"Oh, Haly, do you want-" Dick cut off midsentence. He screamed.

A man Dick knew all too well stared at him and wiped the blade of his knife. "You're up next, Grayson."
