Kid Flash groaned, stretching out his muscles as Dick sat on the bed with his legs crossed. Both boys were solemn; both knew how poorly this night could turn out. KF had witnessed one of his night terrors, Dick knew. He went on and on about how terrified he was, how he thought Dick was dying, that something was wrong. That was with KF. KF, the boy he had told about witnessing his families' deaths and the one who he confided in about some, only some, of his worries and insecurities.

"Dude, how do you sit on that couch? You'd think a billionaire would have more comfortable furniture," Wally said.

"Maybe if you sat on it like a normal person, then you wouldn't hurt."

"Where's the fun in that?" With that having been said, Wally-- Kid Flash, Dick reminded himself --flopped onto Dick's bed. He sighed and sank into the mountain of blankets. "You have so many blankets. Do you care which ones I steal?"

"You can just sleep up here. There's two of us-"

"And only one bed," Wally said -- the second mix up was met with quiet cussing from Dick. Kid Flash looked at him strangely. -- He made the most exaggerated hand gestures he could, succeeding in getting Dick to laugh, before wrapping himself in all the blankets. Dick struggled to grab one. It was futile. Nothing could retrieve a blanket from Kid Flash's Fortress of Blankitude, not even Blanketman, the defender of all that is soft and fluffy. "Take the floor peasant."

"If Bruce didn't have a meeting, I'd go steal his bed."

"He's still doing business with this guy on the loose?"

"Yeah. I convinced him I'd be fine."

"You do realize when you say convinced it implies you aren't."

"Do you really think I could be? He's after me, he wants to finish what he started. If I was still in juvie, I wouldn't care. Let him kill me and get it over with, but Bruce and Alfred are at risk and so are you guys."

"So," KF said sitting up and suddenly dead serious. "If Zucco came after you and you were alone, you'd let him kill you."

"That's not what I'm saying."

"It sure as hell sounds like it, dude." Kid Flash pulled off the mask he had been lent. Wally rubbed his eyes. "We've talked about this before, you need to tell Dinah. I know Rob's told you the exact same thing, so don't go telling me I'm imagining things."

"As much as everyone loves to think that I'm just some kid, I can handle myself okay? If I wanted to die, I'm pretty sure someone would know by now," Dick said, ignoring the fact he didn't particularly care if he lived either. Honestly, what kind of kid could go out on the streets of Gotham at night and fight crime if they didn't have some kind of death wish?

"Whatever you say." Wally rolled his eyes before yawning. "I'm beat. Night." He removed a single blanket from his cocoon. He tossed it over Dick.

"Night."

Sleep didn't come easy, between the constant fear and Wally's snoring, but it eventually came. And with it came the dreams.

Dick tossed and turned in his bed, kicking Wally off. He didn't wake up when he hit the floor, and thus his snoring went uninterrupted. Uninterrupted until Dick screamed. Wally was instantly on his feet. His hands hovered over Dick's tossing form. The younger boy writhed in his sleep, screamed words breaking from his lips. Tears fell down his reddened face.

All Wally could do was watch. Touching him might make things worse, and as far as Wally could tell this was a night-terror. Worse for the people around Dick, but Wally preferred this over him having a nightmare. At least this way he probably wouldn't remember it upon waking up. Wally was grateful for that small mercy. Dick already dealt with too much before all off this started, for him to relive it over and over again was like rubbing salt in a paper-cut.

Everyone could deal with the night terrors if it meant Dick wouldn't have to remember them when he woke up.

It was only by luck Wally caught the door before it slammed into the wall. Conner stood on the other side, eyes wide and scanning the room. Wally held up his hands in a placating manner. Once he was sure Conner wouldn't barge in, as sure as he could be anyway, Wally placed a finger to his lips. Conner winced as another scream rang out.

"Night terror," Wally whispered. "The poor kid."

"Did you try to wake him up?"

Shaking his head, Wally frowned. "It could make things worse. Plus he shouldn't remember this when he wakes up, so why take sleep away from him? I think I brought- He's fine, Aqualad."

"Why are you not wearing your mask?" Kaldur asked.

"Only two people here were masks, and he's pretty close with Rob. Even if he can figure out who a nobody like me is, I doubt he'd tell anyone." Wally tapped his fingers against his legs. "I have some earplugs if you want any, Alfred gave me some earlier. He thought something like this might happen."

"I'd rather be able to hear if something goes wrong. Night." Conner pushed past Kaldur and headed back to his room. Kaldur stood in the hallway, staring at Dick.

"Black Canary was here earlier," he said.

"The Wayne's are major backers for the League. Canary gets a bonus for swinging by to check up on them. It used to be the Flash, but he doesn't exactly understand doctor-patient confidentiality."

"Do you mind if I stay in here as well?"

"Dude, go sleep in the pool. I can get him out of here if there's a real issue."

Kaldur stared at Wally, two sets of green eyes meeting in a stare-down. Kaldur nodded. "If you require help, do not hesitate to get me," he said before leaving and shutting the door behind him. Wally rubbed at his face.

The floor suddenly didn't seem as cozy as it did earlier, but Dick was still flailing on the bed. After a moment of silent debate, Wally piled the blankets back on the bed. What was the worst thing that could happen?

He got his answer when Dick kicked him off in his sleep again.

Tired.

Want sleep.

But I also want to get chapters done since school starts in a couple weeks
