Known information:

· Average height: 5-6 inches

· General characteristics: stoic, quiet, reclusive, territorial

· Notable physical characteristics: pointed teeth, talons, gills, all-black eyes

· Heightened senses: touch

· Coloring: blues, greens, grays, and browns

· Diet: minnows, other small fish, tadpoles, small frogs, water plants (e.g., lotus roots, tubers, etc.)

· Environment: streams and ponds far from human developments

Extra facts:

· Have a much lower resting body temperature than the other faerie subspecies to be able to survive in cool water temperatures.

· Have characteristics of both ectotherms and endotherms (typically regulate body temperature ectothermically when in the water, endothermically when on land).

· Produce mucus from their skin to protect it in the water; they don't produce it on land, but they can't be out of the water for too long or else they'll dry out.

· Can enter into a hibernating state in freezing temperatures or times of food scarcity.

· Seem to gather in small family units consisting of immediate and some extended family. 

· Humans know the least about water sprites, as they are the hardest to find.

· It was generally believed that despite having a distinct magical charge like woodlands and pixies, sprites were unable to absorb or release any type of magic because they lack wings. However, as Ashton and Niles recently discovered, that doesn't quite seem to be the case, as they saw Svernin displaying some type of healing magic in the water.
