Contest
Hello smol star! Unfortunately, the usual update will be delayed by a day due to unforeseen circumstances. Just recently, my grandmother was admitted into the hospital and it's been a little hard to fix my now disorderly schedule, since I took some time off to be with her and weave this little rattan trinket basket to cheer her up. I suppose being confined to a bed isn't something that any of us would look forward to experiencing (which I hope you never will) either way.
Nevertheless! I'm jumping back on schedule the best that I can. I didn't want to make you guys wait for too long, so I'll still be updating very soon (tomorrow!). Meanwhile, to fill your tummies with your weekly birb fill, here's a mini competition in which you stand a chance to decide whose backstory I'll write (Flight School: Lore) next OR which country the Flight Crew will spend Valentine's at (Adventures of Flight Crew #5)! ^0^/
Here's how you can win that very decision:
For every character name I give below, highlight the name and comment one word that best describes that character. Because Cuppie understands that the world is ultimately perceived through colored lenses of differing natures *breathes*, you are free to explain why you chose that certain word to describe that character. After all, this entire series is subject to your own interpretation, independent of my intentions.
There will be about ten to fifteen names down below for you to give it a go and I will look at every comment before assigning points to the users with the best words (meaning you can say the same word as the person above you but have a different explanation) for every character. I will then accumulate the points attained by every user and award the decision to the user with the most points.
I really love the community here in the skies (get that? Stars? Sky? Island in the s—never mind), you guys exchange interpretations and ideas openly while listening to other people who might have a different worldview. Yet, the grief, sorrow, happiness, anger and laughter you share is close to the heart and I daresay the most pristine form of emotions that I've ever seen.
Feel free to interact and read the ideas and comments of your fellow stars! Share ideas, ships or headcanons that you might have because I enjoy reading the shit that you guys stir HAHAHAHAHA I love you all.
Without further ado, let us begin!

The author hereby acknowledges that 14 and 15 are the hardest to describe in a single word—or even describe at all for description often requires understanding and understanding doesn't really apply to the last two characters. They tend to evade our attempts to know or understand, often being far too sublime for our minds to conceive or contain. Should you find that not a single word comes to mind for a certain character, do explain—I will give due credit if you nail it XD
This mini contest will close 5th February, just so that I can contact the winner and be their slave for one chapter XD Should you guys have any suggestions for the winner, do place your ideas here so that he/she can take a look and perhaps compile them depending on what they wish to read.
Ideas for [Flight School: Lore], should the winner choose that option: Callaghan and Faustes' backstory, Dmitri's backstory, Young Vaughn's backstory (that includes Verity's), more Falrir and Sylvain, (or if you're up to some severe and immense pain) more Jiro and Slayne onlythatyouarewiththeknowledgeofoneofthemleavingtheotherbehind—just some suggestions *innocent smiley face*
Ideas for [Adventures of Flight Crew], should the winner choose this option: birbs go to Korea, birbs go to America, birbs go to Brazil, birbs go to Ukraine, birbs go to Japan, birbs go to the UK, birbs go to Indonesia, birbs go to outer space to seek the moon, birbs go to the beach and Vaughn complains because he hates the sun, birbs have spice competition (featuring Jing, Vaughn, Shri, Vijay, Dmitri, Jeremiah and Io)—also, just some suggestions ^^
Now that we have the contest settled, here is a mini Q&A because I decided to separate some questions you guys put on in the previous chapter (there were too many! Hehe). Rest assured, I will answer every single one of them. Some take longer to explain while others are relatively easy so I separate them accordingly.
[Q&A]
Killuarealwife: was the butterfly canon and are there more butterflies?
Cuppie: Yes! Haha if, by canon, you mean that Sylvain exists in the realm of the series, then yes he is. There are more butterflies, yes—they are, however of a different breed. Sylvain is a blue morpho, which I think is one of the most beautiful and exquisite butterflies out there. There are, as well, moths and dragonflies and wasps and bees, etc. I'm unsure as to whether I will write about dragonflies however, because I really like Falrir and Sylvain's ship name: dragonfly.
SquareMelon: will we learn why Luka seems to be missing a lot of memories?
Cuppie: Yes! And even sooner should the winner of the contest decide to choose Luka's backstory as the reward :>
SquareMelon: will we ever see an interaction between Pipa, Kipa and Dmitri?
Cuppie: Very interesting question! I did consider them getting together but the dynamics are just...its very tricky, and I'm unsure if my skill can fully portray every single nuance in their meeting and the power dynamics because Kipa has been Dmitri's prey for a very long time.
SquareMelon: If Falrir chooses Winged, then how did Falrir get chosen? Was there another 'god' before him?
Cuppie: Again, a very good question. This brings in how one would perceive the 'B.C' period—before Christ. Was there a god before Jesus Christ? Why did he not bless the earth sooner? Why was Falrir only 'sent' at that specific point in time?
If you recall, there is a prophecy regarding the immortal being blessing the island (whom everyone thought was Falrir instead of Sylvain) and it sooooorrrtaa mimics the prophecy in the bible. If you're asking if there is another 'God' before him, then yes there was someone of greater power. But hear this carefully—Falrir is not the immortal being that people regard him as. What they see is his Avian, a dragon. Since the dragon is the highest and most powerful of all Avians, it is natural for people to regard him as the highest power, aka. God.
The catch here is that he isn't God. He isn't the being in the prophecy, Sylvain is.
What this character tells us is—do we, in a way, determine our Gods, or does God determine us?
SquareMelon: how long have you been writing for? I really love this series! Everytime I reread it, I find new details and detect foreshadowing. Your writing is *Cuppie is ded by the time she reads up til here* quite intricate and beautiful!
Cuppie: *rises from the ded* you flatter me too much ;-; Flight School was conceived only 2-3 months later than the start of the Baked Series, so about the start of 2014, when I was 15! I started writing immediately but Chip and Xander took most of my time, so I decided to leave this aside for 2 years before coming back to it!
SquareMelon: will there ever be a character with as much development as our dear Eve? (I no longer feel comfortable with addressing him as Vaughn) ;u;
Cuppie: hahaha! I'm glad you used the term 'character development' for Vaughn, specifically. Io, Luka and Pipa come under the 'character revelation' category, in which they never really change but a deeper part of them is revealed. Even now, Io is so far from being known or understood by readers.
Vaughn is the one character whom I've planned everything ahead and made him so purposefully different from who he was in the beginning. He was meant to be fallen for, very slowly, until it's sorta hard to not like him anymore.
I try my best to make all of my characters special and, as I've said before, more than characters. So as for your question...I suppose it's up to you guys to define whether I've outdone Vaughn XD
SquareMelon: do you like tea?
Cuppie: HAHAHA SO RANDOM BUT YES I LOVE TEA HEHE. As for your other questions, I will answer them in the next Intentions. Same goes for WebbedMinds!
Aljm_andrea: when will Luka and Io kiss????
Cuppie: hhhaahHahhahahaHhahahahaAHAHAHAH—*is squished and cannot answer the question*
Aljm_andrea: *looks at the squished cupcake* is it possible for an Avian to have two Winged?
Cuppie: no ;-; only Winged can have two (or in Reux's case) or more Avians. Not the other way round because Winged lend their wings and bind their Link to one Winged only.
Aljm_andrea: Can anything with wings be considered an Avian? Eg. Pegasus, dragonfly, etc.
Cuppie: Dragonfly, yes! Pegasus...unfortunately not XD Griffins also don't exist ;-; I'M SORREH
Asophogus: Have you got any pets? *excited*
Cuppie: HELLO THERE DEAR! I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!! EEP *squishes you* thank you for the barrage of compliments all at once, I fainted whilst reading them because they were too sweet. Also, no I've got no pets ;-; my apartment is super tiny and it's hard to house anything more than my family hahahaha!
Asophogus: Are everybody's Avians just chilling in the background because they don't' seem to be mentioned often unless it's the Avian of the POV character. Does that mean that Avians of other people aren't paid much attention?
Cuppie: good question, and very stylistic! It depends a lot on my style at the point of writing. Different characters have different levels of observation. Prey are more likely to try and figure out (immediately) the Avian of a predator due to instinct. It's like assessing your threat level you know? People do it involuntarily, that kind of thing. Predators are less likely to care about Avians apart from their own, unless they are in a brawl like Luka was against Reux. You have to watch out for Avians coming from a different direction, that sort of thing, because you're technically fighting more than one person.
On ordinary occasions however, predators can be observant about the Avians of other Winged (Luka is permanently fixated on anything that concerns Io so I'm just going to make him an exception). Should one of them feel threatened by another predator, their attention will automatically shift towards the Avian to catch signs of aggression. After all, it's easier to read a bird than read a human because territorial instincts are openly displayed on animals.
So my answer is kinda: it depends. Stylistic wise, I just explained! It is up to you to identify which character is more observant, aware, or wary of others.
Hope it answers your question!
Everyone in the previous chapter: Y U DO DIZ TO MAI HEART OMG CUPPIE Y MUST U—
Cuppie: *runs into the wilderness* see you tomorrowwwwwwwww
