Scars & Stories

The sky was dark when I went home from buying stuff in the nearest grocery store.

It would be the last time I walked as a free man, without the burden of a galaxy on my shoulders.

I mean what would a Hispanic kid like me have to do with aliens, right? Not a joke, God.

The house seemed empty as I walked toward it, and I called out to my mom when I opened the gate.

"Mami, donde tu estas?" I walked in the kitchen and did not see her cooking as she usually liked to do.

Looking in the bedroom, a firm hand grabbed the side of my mouth and I attempted to scream until I heard, "Callate, niño! Tu quieres que ellos nos eschuchen?"

"Who's them?" I asked. Then, I saw it.

There was a giant spaceship floating above our house...wait...Who blew up our roof? We don't have the money for repairs, man!

In my shock, I gasped, allowing the humanoids to come near our location and see us.

Were they breaking into my house? What's happening? I yelled at them to stop what they were doing and then my life turned upside down.

The next thing I remember is that they pointed laser guns at me and joked around in another language until I felt my head getting heavier and there was a...yellow bucket on my head! Ah!

One of those cockroaches tried to get me and I swung one at him and...actually hit him.

Me, the skinny looking Mexican-American was landing his punches somehow. When did I suddenly get super strength?

Boy, at that time, I thought I was cute.

I was so wrong because at that moment, my sister was crawling her way across the floor where she had been just to the left of me, hiding behind the couch.

I moved and revealed her position inadvertently though. Unfortunately, I only realized they had grabbed her when I heard an unearthly shriek and an alien holding his foot while jumping up and down like a monkey.

When I reached out to beat another guy  down, headlights came on and blinded me.

Suddenly, a bunch of those creeps jumped on me.

The short of it is he landed a straight one to the forehead that did me in and I blacked out.
