"Thanks again for inviting me out tonight, Kiki,"
Bumblebee sat in the drivers seat of his yellow and black Urbana 500 sports car, driving himself and Kiki to Crown City's Rumble Dome, where tonight's concert was taking place.
"No problem," Kiki smiled, her hair up in a pony tail as she wore a black tank top with a cameo jacke, skinny jeans and high top sneakers. "It's only fair since you invited me out yesterday. Are you excited?"
"Totally! I was a big fan of theirs in growing up," He explained, his face lighting up. "They play songs about fighting for justice and not giving up so long as the music is still playing!"
Bumblebee wore a white sleeveless shirt with the phrase "Buzz off!" written on it with a black vest over top, light blue jeans and black boots.
Kiki chuckled at the man as she turned her head to face him, tucking a lock of her hair behind her ear. "It sounds like you're still a fan of them---" She stopped when she saw Bumblebee's arms, the left hand on the steering wheel while the other was down near the gear shift. The way the outside lights shined on his muscles every three seconds, the blank ink from his tattoo standing out made her heart skip a beat.
How the heck did he get so ripped?! Had he been working out non-stop since he was 12?
"Kiki? You okay?"
Bumblebee's voice ringing in her eyes flashed Kiki back into reality as her eyes widened, the girl shaking her head furiously as she leaned back into her seat. "Huh? Sorry, I'm fine!"
"Are you sure? You spaced out for a second there," The man spoke slowly, a hint of concern could be heard in his voice. "If you're not feeling well, it's not too late to go back."
"No, no, no, it's fine!" Kiki assured the man. "I guess I'm just a little anxious, and nervous,"
"Nervous?" Bumblebee repeated. "What's there to be nervous about at a Rear Axle concert?"
"I haven't listened to their music in years," Kiki explained. "I'm worried I'll stick out like a sore thumb!"
There was that, and before Bumblebee picked her up, Kiki had been binged listening to Rear Axle's music for the last few hours. She practically drowned her soul, trying to learn the lyrics to as many of their songs as her little brain could manage. Kiki had thought that if she learned some of their music, she hoped that she and Bumblebee could connect a bit more and have even more fun at the concert than they originally planned.
"I'm sure you'll be fine," Bumblebee assured the girl, giving her a soft smile. "Just focus on the music and let yourself go. Their performances are legendary!"
The girl couldn't help but smile back at the brown skinned man as she focused her attention back on the road, just as they were pulling up towards the stadium.
"So what do they have in store for us?" She asked.
"Their Facebook page announced that their showing a new stage show with a space battle!" Bumblebee exclaimed, his eyes twinkling like a kid being given candy.
The car entered the stadium's parking lot and the place was completely packed! It didn't look like there was a single open space in sight!
"Maybe we should have come a bit earlier?" Kiki suggested.
"Judging by the music that's playing now, the opening act is still going on, so we have some time," Bumblebee predicted as he pulled up to the main entrance to the stadium. "I'll let you get off to get in and save our seats while I look for a parking spot."
"Are you sure?" Kiki asked with uncertainty. "You seem a lot more excited about this show than me, why don't you go in instead of me?"
"No please, I insist," Bumblebee assured, waving his hand. "Ladies first."
Kiki smirked at the man with a quiet giggle as she unlocked the passenger side door. "Alright, good sir, we'll have it your way."
"Do me a favour and see if there are any shirts at the vendors left?" Bumblebee called from the window.
"Sure!" Kiki yelled in reply, giving him a thumbs up.
Kiki could hear Bumblebee driving his car away from her location as she walked towards the doors. But a few quick moments later, she heard the screeching of tires and turned to see Bumblebee backing back to his previous spot, waving at her.
"And get me a steering wheel covering if they have any!" He added. "Size medium!"
Kiki couldn't help but laugh as she waved the man off. "Okay, okay, I will! Hurry up and get a spot or you'll be out here all night!"
"See you inside," Bumblebee chuckled before finally taking off down the lot, for good this time.
Kiki stepped inside, showing her ticket to the guard before he let her inside. With the opening act playing, there were still quite a fair amount of people walking around the circular hall of the stadium, buying food, drinks, and some merchandise.
Speaking of merchandise, Kiki walked to the nearest vendor she could find, and despite her luck, all the shirts were sold out.
"You wouldn't happen to have any steering wheel covers would you?"
The vendor gave her a puzzling look before his expression lit up, checking under the table as he brought out a box.
"Size medium or large?"
Kiki bought the medium covering for Bumblebee, examining the design as she walked away from the vendor. It was a combination of the colours orange, lime green, and purple with the name of the band embedded at the bottom.
"Ladies and gentlemen, get ready for Rear Axle!" A voice over the loud speaker spoke.
"They must be coming on stage now," Kiki thought as she tried to navigate her way through the crowds.
According to her ticket, she and Bumblebee had seats in the overhead bleachers. She looked around the hall, and found a metal door off to the side, hoping it would lead to the second floor. Kiki pushed the door open and entered the tiny room with the stairwell. Only it lead downstairs instead of up.
"This isn't it," She mumbled, turning around to opening the door again. She tugged on the handle, but the door wouldn't budge. "Aw, great!"
With a hiss, she had nowhere else to go but down. She tucked the steering wheel covering under her arm as she jogged down the flight of stairs, hoping to find a way out. Once she reached the bottom, Kiki opened the door and entered a dark room. The room was large in width, filled with wooden boxes, props, amplifiers, costumes, spare instruments, and a giant yellow rocket at the corner of the room.
"This must be the basement," Kiki realized, taking a look around. "This is just great."
She made it all the way to the end, getting a closer look at the rocket. She had to admit, it was quite impressive. Suddenly there was a metal "screech" as the floor above her began to shake.
"Whoa!" She yelped, looking down to see that she was actually standing on a metal lift platform, and it was beginning to ascend.
Kiki jumped down, watching as the rocket ascended towards a square opening in the ceiling, as it popped up into the back stage of the main floor. She watched as the platform descended back down, the rocket no longer present.
"That's my ticket out of here," She grinned.
Just as she was about to leave, a noise caught her attention, like a metal wrench falling to the floor. She turned around, walking around to find the source of the noise. She turned a corner and froze, her eyes widening as she ducked down behind a box before poking her head out to the side.
Standing a few feet away from her was a tall, male figure. He had long wavy red hair with blue eyes and light skin. He wore a red jumpsuit with black boots and matching gloves. He had a pair of black fully grown German Shepherds with him, sniffing around the floor and boxes around them.
At one point, one of the dogs jumped the man, biting into his arm.
"Hey, watch it!" The man yelped as he pushed the dog off him.
The German Shepard teared a chunk of the man's sleeve off, revealing a tattoo hidden behind the fabric. Kiki squinted her eyes, trying to get a clear look at the link, and when her vision came into focus, her eyes widened so much they would have fallen right out of her eye sockets.
"He's a... Decepticon!" She screamed in her head.
She backed away from the box, and just as she was turning around, she accidentally knocked down a pile of cymbals. The yellow disks fell to the floor with a loud "CRASH" as Kiki's body flinched, freezing up.
"What was that?" The man spoke up. "Anvil, Hammer, go!"
Kiki quickly bolted, just as she heard the harsh pitter patter of the dogs paws against the floor, the dangling of their collars. She ducked behind a large crate, her back pressed against the hard wood of the box as her heart began to race.
She pulled her cell phone out from her jean pocket, hoping to call Bumblebee, or anybody she could to call for help. But no dice, there wasn't any service in this level of the stadium. Kiki hissed as she slipped the device back in her pocket, wondering whether or not she should dare and take a peek to see if the dogs had gone off.
Kiki peeked over ever so slightly, watching as the dogs sniffed the cymbals. They each took a bite out of one, holding it in their mouths as they made their way back to their master.
Kiki sighed with relief, glad that they hadn't gotten her scent yet.
"I know what made the noise, I want to know who made it!" The man yelled. "I have to disconnect the cords carefully, or the equipment will get damaged!"
Kiki took another peek to see one of the dogs sniffing the cables of a soundboard. He took a bite out of it, and was given a electrical shock. It yelped from the pain, backing away from the cable.
"What did I just say?!" The red haired man grumbled, face palming.
While Kiki did feel bad about the dog for getting zapped, she knew if she stuck around any longer, she would get spotted eventually. She had to think of a escape plan, and fast. Kiki quietly backed away from her hiding spot, backing up towards a wall. What she didn't realize however as that upon doing so, she backed into a broom.
Before she couldn't even react, the broom knocked over on a costume rack, making it move forward and hit one of the stage props, a giant circle with lights along its outer circle. The prop began to circle around like a hola hoop before sinking closer and closer to the floor before crashing with a loud, "WHAM", with Kiki standing right in the center of it.
She winced at the noise before looking up to see the Decepticon male and his two dogs staring at her. She chuckled nervously, slowly stepping out of the circle before making a break for the lift.
"Sick'em!" The man commanded.
The dogs barked furiously as they chased the girl down. She zig zagged her way around various obstacles in her path, trying to gain some distance from the dogs. Suddenly she was tackled to the floor, skidding on her side as she hissed from the sudden pain. She glanced up to see the male figure over her, keeping her shoulders pinned to the floor.
"Guard the door," he ordered, looking over at the dogs. The dogs huffed with a growl as they both trotted off across the room, the man looking back down at Kiki with a glare. "Whoever you are, you're dealing with someone far out of your league."
"Yeah," Kiki grunted, sucker punching the man. "Far below my league!"
The man stumbled back as Kiki crawled away from him before scrambling to her feet, making a break for it across the room. She spotted another lift with a giant ray gun prop beginning to make its ascend. She could hear the footsteps of the man trailing hers, chasing after her.
Kiki jumped, climbing up onto the lift just as the man pulled out a advanced looking weapon and fired it. A strange blue energy beam soared across the room, just missing Kiki as the lift made it to the top of its ascend into backstage, just as a huge puff of smoke from the shot of the weapon seeped its way through the cracks and created a smokescreen around the girl.
As Kiki stepped out of the smoke, two guards caught her attention as they looked at the scene with looks of confusion. Thinking on the spot, Kiki gave them a thumbs up as she walked by them. "Everything looks good down there,"
The two guards didn't speak up as she made her way out of backstage and back out into the circular hallway of the stadium. She sighed with relief, back to be in a familiar space. After that, she didn't waste no time in making a break for it down the hall, running back towards the entrance while keeping an eye out for Bumblebee.
"Bumblebee!" She called, spotting the brown skinned man as he made it passed security.
Bumblebee tilted his head up from shoving his ticket into his pocket, smiling when the girl drew near. "Sorry it took me so long, didn't find a spot until I went to the back of the lot. So, what's it like in there? Did the band come on yet? They haven't played Carpool Lane To Your Heart, have they?"
Kiki stopped in front of the man, pausing for a moment to catch her breath. Bumblebee's excited expression changed when he saw Kiki's condition. She was breathing in and out heavily, her forehead was sweating, and her eyes had a hint of fear in them.
"Kiki, what's wrong?" Bumblebee asked with concern, placing his hands on her shoulders.
Kiki finally met the man's gaze, straightening her posture as she spoke. "I got lost looking for our seats and ended up down in the basement, in the storage area. But down there, I ran into this guy-- he-- he had the same purple tattoo that guy from the hostage case had!"
"Wait, what?" Bumblebee's eyes widened as his grip on her shoulders tightened slightly. "Are you sure?"
"I'm positive! He has two Germand Shepherds with him," Kiki explained. "I think--- I think he might be a, Decepticon?"
"What did he look like?" Bumblebee asked.
"He wore a red jumpsuit, and he had long wavy hair," Kiki recalled.
"Oh, great, Bisk," Bumblebee growled. "If he's here, than the Decepticons must have sent him here for a reason; And I doubt it's to see Rear Axle perform."
"I heard him mention something about grabbing some soundboards," Kiki explained. "I tried to get clear, but he and his dogs were between me and the exit."
"Are you alright?" Bumblebee asked with worry, spotting a red mark on the girl's right arm, the fabric from the fingers of his glove gently stroking it. "He didn't hurt you did he?"
Kiki met Bumblebee's gaze again, and she could have sworn she saw... anger. Was he upset over the fact that Bisk attacked her?
"He tackled me at one point, but I got away." Kiki assured the man.
"And here I was getting ready to have a good time. Can you show me where you found him?" Bumblebee questioned.
Kiki nodded firmly as she pointed behind her. "Follow me,"
Kiki retraced her steps, showing Bumblebee the path she took down to the basement. As she did so, Bumblebee called Prowl back at the station to alert him of Bisk's presence at the stadium. When the pair reached the bottom of the stadium, Bumblebee kicked the door open with his foot before storming into the storage area, Kiki following closely behind him.
"Crap, he's not here!" Kiki cursed.
Bumblebee's cell phone started ringing before the man could speak up. He pulled the phone out, checking the caller ID before answering. "Go a head, Cadet."
"Traffic jam sir," Strongarm spoke up. "We'll get there as fast as we can."
"Understood," Bumblebee replied before hanging up the phone. "Backup is going to be late. Let's get this done before 2nd act."
"I don't see the soundboard anywhere," Kiki spoke as she looked around the area. "Bisk must have taken it."
"Maybe not. Bisk took a soundboard, but there will be another one mixing sound for the audio on the arena floor," Bumblebee explained, waving his hand forward. "Come on!"
Bumblebee and Kiki ran across the room, coming up to one of the lifts that took the props up to backstage.
"Think this will work as a shortcut to the arena?" Bumblebee asked.
"Those lifts take you to backstage," Kiki pointed out. "That should save you some time to get to the soundboard before Bisk."
"If Bisk is up there, he might cause some sort of riot," Bumblebee grumbled, rubbing his eyes. "I could hijack one of the costumes and go undercover, try to tag him under the radar." Bumblebee reached over to his back pocket, pulling out his police badge and tossed it to Kiki.
"Think that will work? What if you get spotted and they kick you out?" Kiki questioned with concern. "Won't you need your badge?"
"Use it to alert the guards and get them to evacuate as many civilians as you can," Bumblebee answered firmly. "I'll figure something out."
"Sorry this night didn't turn out as awesome as you hoped," Kiki apologized.
"The sooner we catch Bisk, the quicker we can get back to enjoying ourselves and spending some quality time together," Bumblebee replied with a smile.
Kiki couldn't help but blush a little bit after hearing him say that. "What about now?"
"Now? I call it over-time, without pay." He joked.
"Good luck Bumblebee," Kiki smirked.
"You too, Kiki," Bumblebee grinned in reply. "Once you complete your job, get somewhere safe. I don't want to risk Bisk possibly going after you again."
Bumblebee watched the girl bolt across the room, taking off through the door before he stepped up on the lift, activating it as it began to make its ascend upwards to backstage.
"Decepticons stealing property, attacking my friend, making me miss a Rear Axle concert," Bumblebee spoke, pumping himself up. "Bisk just messed with the wrong Autobot."
