The New Zealand city of Christchurch was terribly devastated suffering three major earthquakes and numerous aftershocks over the period August 2010 until June 2011 with the worst being in February 2011 when 180 people lost their lives. There was a surprisingly low death rate considering the amount of destruction caused.

I believe it is perhaps New Zealand's most pleasant city. My poem was written to reflect the way Christchurch is being rebuilt following the trauma of the earthquakes.
