Spencer and the Techies - Now You Know Who Spencer Is!
Back on the pier, a few minutes later, Evelyn blinked awake. She pushed herself up, realizing she had a huge headache. She touched her lip and found that it was tingling there. Then her eyes narrowed and she jumped up to her feet.
"JONNY!!" she screamed. "Jonathan!"
She shook her head, as she came to the understanding that he was gone. The villain guy, the Brawler had kidnapped him. He was gone and it had been awhile since she had failed to save him. She didn't like failing...who did?
"Jonny, I will find you and Kaner too. I'll save you both. No one messes with the Chicago Blackhawks!"
Her wings fluttered. Right now, thanks to her emotions, they were fluttering rapidly with her emotional turmoil. She was mad at the man who'd kidnapped both Blackhawk forward. She didn't like it, being the protector of the team.
But she knew she had to get back to her friends now and they had to have some kind of clue as to where Jonathan and Patrick had been taken to. It was the only option at the moment. She lifted off the ground and zoomed into the night air. She arrived back at Brooke's house and dropped onto the ground.
She walked up to the front door and knocked. Kelly answered it and allowed her in. Inside, Brooke and Val were sitting on the couch talking to a computer. They motioned Evelyn over.
"Where Jonathan?" Val asked, "concerned."
"Some guy named the Brawler kidnapped him. We gotta hurry up and discover the hideout of these new villains and where Patrick and Jonathan are, otherwise, we'll never find them...and we'll lose 'em! Please tell me you got something good for me?"
"Well," Brooke began, glancing up at her from the computer. "We do. Come, join us."
"What--? What are you doing?" the redhead questioned.
"Sit down and talk to Techies with us. Fill 'em in on what happened to you!" Val explained further. He glanced to Brooke, who gave him a thumbs up and he beamed.
"Oh...no....not the--" she began to say, before she was interrupted.
"Yeah, it's the Techies and your number one Techie, Spence! Whasup Black Hawk?!" a voice came from the computer. The superheroine rolled her eyes and groaned.
"Spencer!!" Evelyn growled, as she stormed over to the computer.
On the screen was a small box with the image of a person. The program up was similar to Skype. The person in the middle of the picture was a golden brown haired man with crystal blue eyes behind a pair of "smart" nerd-like glasses. He was smirking at them.
Brooke looked at her friend. "Spencer was helping us out. He tracked down Strum after some serious hard work."
"Good job Spencer, but I'm still furious about what happened last time. Don't think I've forgotten."
"Not at all. And I'm sorry I gave you the wrong time and location. How many times must I say that?"
"You almost killed Jonathan!! You're just lucky my Hawk Vision worked."
"And whose fault was it this time? He's not here, so I can only assume you failed to save him again. But it wasn't me this time."
"Don't push things! I'm not in the mood." She leaned back and folded her arms across her chest and pouted her lip in anger.
His image shrugged and he fixed the glasses on the bridge of his nose. "You two want to tell her?"
Val turned to her and jumped into telling the story, before Brooke could. The curly brunette girl looked at Spencer and sent him a wink. The Russian launched into the story: "As I have heard it, Spencer found out that Strum is in Moscow, Russia. He is linked to the KHL and is apart of some rogue hockey player group called the Legend of Doom. They are a wicked group that is led by someone named Kaleta--" (He has good English here, because he is talking about what they have found out, so he knows.)
"Kaleta? Like Patrick Kaleta?" Evelyn questioned, raising an eyebrow and slowly letting her arms come undone.
"Affirmative!" Spencer remarked.
She sent him a quick look, before attempting to take everyone there into her eyesight. "But he's a Buffalo Sabre."
"Evelyn, let Val finish. Then you can ask questions," Brooke remarked, twirling her finger in her hair and patting the blond Russian kid on the shoulder.
Evelyn sat back and nodded. "Speak Valeri."
"Kaleta apparently founded the group, drawing in many supporters. But he has four main "henchmen": Strum, John Scott and Vanek--" (Again, good English here, because he is repeating what Brooke and Spencer have told him to say.)
"Thomas Vanek?"
"Yes."
"And John Scott? He's the guy who kidnapped Jonny! He called himself The Brawler!"
"Indeed. Vanek, Strum, Kaleta and The Brawler all make up this Legend of Doom, - LOD - which is centered in Moscow. They hate the NHL and are out to destroy its reputation and restore it to it's rough and tumble ways," Spencer took over the explanation now.
"So Kaner and Tazer have what to do with this?" Evelyn pressed, curiously.
"Because they--" Val started to say, before Brooke put her arm out and shoved him deeper into the couch, as she leaned forward to look at her friend.
She spoke now. "We believe that, after some research, Kaner and Tazer possess some kind of positive offensive energy in them. They are the originators of the "offensive only" mentality."
"What about Tyler Seguin, isn't he technically of the "offensive only" mentality?"
Brooke let Val pop back up, as she shrugged and said, "Seguin's not pure of heart, one and two, he came years later. Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews are technically the "beginning of the new era in hockey" - in the NHL of course - but that means that if the LOD want to restore the old ways, killing the new way is the only option."
"So they're going to "destroy" Kazer?"
"Affirmative!" Spencer remarked again. "Unless you and your super friends can stop them and save them, they are doomed."
(This was so much cooler in my dream...)
"Then we have to get a move on!! We have to find them both!" Evelyn jumped to her feet.
"Yes, yes, that would be the best option. I already programed myself into the watches from Brad. And if you guys need help anymore from me, I got the other Techies here at ready. My crew can get you the information you need," Spencer said from the computer, holding his hand up to the webcam to show them.
"Thanks Spencer. I think we are done for now," Kelly stated. She had been hanging off to the side of the couch, standing and playing with her wand.
"Whoa, whoa, first, do you have an answer as to what exactly the LOD wants with Kazer?" Evelyn brought up.
"Uh, for destroying the NHL as we know it now," Kelly exclaimed.
"No, no, not that. There's got to be more to it. Like how would destroying them destroy the NHL?" the super heroine stated, dismissively and puzzlingly.
Spencer spoke up. "I'll have my people look into it for you."
Evelyn shook her head. She leaned toward the computer for a closer look. "If Kaner and Tazer are special and hold the key to the NHL's offensive mentality, that would mean that they have powers and are special...which would mean that they aren't mortal."
Spencer nodded. "Precisely. Look, we'll research it for you and let you know. But for all we know, it's just their talent that is their power, and that's very mortal."
"Alright, get on it Spence." Evelyn ordered and received a head nod from the Techie. She turned the computer screen off and shut the lid. Then she turned to her friends, who were looking at her with anxious faces. "Let's go save some Blackhawks!!"
"Ooh! Can we refer to this mission as Operation: Kazer!?" Kelly exclaimed.
Evelyn laughed and put an arm around her magical friend. "Sure, Kelly. But let's go -- to the Hawk Mobile!!"
And with that, the four friends darted out and hopped into the black Charger car and zoomed off, with Evelyn at the controls and driving. Val and Brooke were in the backseat and Kelly was in the passenger seat. She was happily flicking her wand about.
"Kelly, careful! Watch it!"
Then the redhead superheroine jammed her finger on a button and the vehicle launched off into the air, and vanished from the skies of Boston. It reappeared in the skies over the Russian city of Moscow.
