•chapter six•
{before I get this started, I just wanted to state that this story is linked to one of my most favourites on wattpad. This story is based on her character Jolie. Please check it out! It's called LEAPS AND BOUNDS. }
I tie up my shoes and tug my jumper onto my skin. My hair done in two pig tails.
I am still jumpy and rattled from last night. So many things had happened and I just felt sick all over.
I made my way to the garage where my prized position was parked. A car my mother had decided to buy me as a congratulations from getting my license so soon. It was a shiny black car that I made sure to take care of.
I grinned to myself and made my way to the drivers side and begin driving to school.

When I arrive at school it's almost empty. It's to early in the morning to be at school.
By the front of the stands are groups of people, a boy and his hot girlfriend, a female senior with a pretty face and fit body. Then standing there with Mason is Liam, awkwardly fidgeting with a bandage on his wrist.
I skip to them, concerned as to why Liam was even at track practice after last night.
When I get there Mason envelopes me in a hug.
"New friend!" He says. I squeeze him.
"So glad to see you"
I turn to Liam and give him a sympathetic smile.
"How are you?" I say. His shoulders immediately sag and his pretty blue eyes look down to his Fluro sneakers.
"It uh...wasn't anything serious. I'm fine"
He bites his lip and I almost wince at him and his cuteness.
"Well that's good" I grin at them both. "Ready to get your asses whooped?" I say, pushing aside all my problems and getting on with the day.
I don't know if it was a defence mechanism, smiling when you needed to frown and laughing when you needed to cry. But whatever it was, it was like my main solution.
Mrs.Henderson, also known as my History teacher, comes and stands before us.
"Okay so this is how it's going to go. I've set up an obstacle course through out the woods and whoever finds the blue flag first, wins. Stick to the boundaries of the forest and you'll be fine. You'll hear a whistle when your expected back, ie: when someone else has won." She states.
I take a deep breath, readying myself for a sprint.
"Don't just stand there, start!" I hear a loud whistle and my feet holt off the ground and I don't struggle to zoom forward without Liam and Mason.
I run for about ten minutes straight through the forests, dodging people here and there. My breath gets hard and I get puffed out so I stop, crouching down and gasping for breath.
I spot the tall senior girl crouching down too, gasping for air. I approach her, snapping a twig on my way there.
The senior girl jerks up, staring at me with a blank face.
I smile at her.
"Just me-" I stand straighter, my breathing back to normal.
"I'm Jo, by the way" I say, trying to make positive conversation.
She glances to me but slowly jogs, I jog beside her.
"Ronnie" she smiles.
I watch her run for a second.
"You're good at this. Done any training?" I speak, watching her. She sighs and quickens her pace.
"Nope" she replies.
I raise an eyebrow.
Okay, I get that this was a time to not be chatting and to start running but she didn't need to be rude about it.
"Don't talk much do you? That's okay, I can deal with the silence. I get the new girls are shy" I say. She raises an eyebrow.
"What makes you think that my one worded response was cause I was new" she says. I scoff.
"My mistake, but last time I checked, being new sucks" I say. She stops and smiles.
"I'm sorry...I just get all spaced out when I'm running" Ronnie replies.
A mischievous smile spreads across my face.
"Fair enough! I'll race ya!" I say, kicking my feet off the ground and dashing through the woods. I pass by Liam, who is tying his shoelaces.
I feel Ronnie overtake me and I try to keep up but damn she was fast.
Then I hear a loud whistle and I'm drawn to a big oak tree in the middle of the forest.
People crowd around Ronnie, who whoops in triumph.
"Guess you won" I say, grinning at her.
She returns the smile.
"I guess so"
On the way back I spot kids entering the school and readying for the day. Liam walks with me and Ronnie, together we make our way down to the school.
Miss Henderson congratulates Ronnie.
Me and Liam clap for her but I notice the girl standing with her boyfriend frown.
"With all due respect Miss Henderson, anyone could have won that, it was just luck"
And almost everyone turns their nose at her. Even her boyfriend does.
"Bianca!" He fusses, glaring at her. Miss Henderson jumps in to stop the raging argument.
"With all due respect Bianca, we'd all prefer it if you kept your comments to yourself next time"
Bianca snorts and turns to walk away but I'm still astonished by the attitude.
"Oh and Bianca," I start, earning a truthful glare from Bianca "maybe you would have won, if you could run with your legs as fast as you are to run your mouth" I snicker. Bianca's mouth widens while everyone else laughs.
Everyone parts and the track team slowly makes their way to their destinations.
I made my way to the locker room, clutching my bag and intending to change into normal clothes.
I enter the locker room and take off my singlet and slip on my black and white baseball tee, with skinny light blue jeans.
As I finish up I notice Ronnie at the corner of my eye.
"So you're a freshman huh?" She asks.
I smile. "Yup. You?"
She nods no. I smirk. "Darn. I'm always the younger one"
She laughs.
"Hey are you too cool to be sitting with some freshmans cause I reckon we should hang" I say, slipping on my purple jumper. "A small group of us sit on the benches out front"
She thinks for a while but returns me with a kind smile.
"Sure, that would be great. Thanks" Ronnie replies. I nod, giving her a toothy grin.
"No problem, be there or be square" I reply and casually walk out, readying to go to physics.
