Flash 3
"Regular movie scale, that was a seven or an eight. Zombie movie scale, it was, like, a four, tops."
"No! That was a definite 3, no argument"
"There's a zombie movie scale?"
Barry grinned and nodded. Iris had asked him for dinner and movies. He had actually been surprised until he noticed Iris had invited Robin as well.
"Did you know that zombies exist in nature? There's a species of fungi that infects ants, causing the ants to attack plants that can release spores which in turn infect new hosts." Barry stopped smiling realizing he was rambling again when Robin chuckled.
"Have you seen the teens and their mobile phones? One zombie apocalypse happening right here." Barry turned to her and laughed. Iris eyed them, a playful smirk on her lips.
"Your the biggest nerds I have ever seen." Barry and Robin stopped smiling and turned to her. "It's okay though. You would make a cute couple." The two looked at each other before they looked away. Iris, seeing the tension, grinned. "Anyways, I'm a lot more interested in the amazing as of late. You mean 'cause of this "streak" thing? He's out there. People are talking about him." Barry frowned, secretly glad that Iris changed the subject. Him and Robin?
"How do you even know he's a he? Maybe it's a she." Iris turned to him
"It's a man, okay? You know I am really intuitive about this kind of stuff. Someone even posted a picture after being yanked from a car accident. It's a red blur leaving the scene." She reached inside her pocket and took out her phone. "Here, what do you see?" She held it out for them to see. The screen flashed and a picture of Eddie appeared. Robin squinted her eyes.
"Wow, the Flash looks a lot like Eddie" Iris frowned and turned the phone back around.
"Oh, I should probably get this. I'm crashing at his place tonight, and he's supposed to leave a key for me somewhere." She smiled and accepted the call. "Hey, babe. What's up?" She walked away a bit, giving herself a bit more privacy. "Not much, just hanging out with Barry and Robin. You off yet?" Barry watched her until his own phone rang.
"Cisco?" Barry held down the phone and put it on speaker.
"Code 237 on Waid Boulevard." Barry frowned.
"Public indecency?"
"Wait, I think I meant a 239." Now it was Robin's time to frown.
"Dog leash violation? I think you mean code 230 bad ma-"
"-man with gun in a getaway car." Robin and Caitlin finished at the same time. Robin took Barry's phone from him and nodded.
"Go" Barry nodded and dashed away. Robin watched him before she moved the phone to her ear.
"How's he doing?" Cisco kept her posted on Barry's status and before Robin could even blink Barry was back, wearing the same thing he had worn before. He smiled at Robin. Iris walked back before Robin could even ask how it went.
"Eddie says hi." Barry nodded.
"Nice of him. You wanna grab a bite? I'm feeling a little famished." Robin chuckled while Iris blinked.
"After the Mongolian barbecue we had before the movie and the extra large popcorn you had at the movie? How are you not fat?" Barry shrugged.
"I've been jogging."
"Oh, okay. But I need to go before Eddie gets home, I want to surprise him. Why don't you too go together?" Robin send her a look but she ignored it and smiled. "I see you tomorrow" She hugged both of them and left. Barry sighed and turned to Robin.
"I do know a killer Thai joint" Barry shrugged.
"Lead on" Robin smiled and together they walked the opposite way of Iris.

Robin was back at S.T.A.R. labs. Wells had given up on scolding her for leaving. To her defense, she had never removed the sensors from her body. Robin sat in her chair, pondering on the new Meta Human.
"Fascinating, a meta-human that can manipulate poison gas. Is it just poisonous gas, or can he control all aerated substances?"
"And how is he able to formulate the connection? Is it physiological or psychological?"
"Can he turn himself into gas. If so, how long can he maintain that form?"
"This individual can create a mental nexus using gaseous substances."
"You mean connect with gases on a molecular level?"
"Yes."
"That is ridiculously cool." They went back and forth while Barry and Jo watched.
"They get really excited about this stuff."
"The only thing I'm excited about is putting criminals behind bars. Except Iron Heights isn't exactly equipped to handle meta-humans." Robin nodded.
"And even if it could, we don't want to put them between the normal people" Barry nodded, not wanting any dangerous meta-human close to his dad. Wells looked up from the computer.
"Then I guess it's fortunate the ones you've encountered so far are no longer with us."
"Well, unless we're planning on executing every super criminal we stop, you geniuses are gonna have to come up with someplace else to hold them." Cisco smirked.
"A meta-human prison. Sweet." Jo shrugged, kinda liking the idea.
"Until we figure a way to remove their powers." Wells stated, going back to his data. Cisco thought for a moment.
"There is one place here that might hold them." They all turned to him, Caitlin more alarmed than most.
"You can't be serious. I mean, we haven't been down there since..." She stopped and swallowed. "It's cordoned off." Robin looked away from Cisco and went back to her laptop, something that didn't go unnoticed by Barry. Wells nodded.
"Cisco is right. It could be modified to act as a makeshift prison." Barry shook his head, not catching on.
"What could?"
"The particle accelerator."
"I think it might actually work, if we build individual chambers and maybe even a system to move those. We need to go down to the accelerator ring." Wells stared at Caitlin.
"Caitlin" Caitlin blinked. "Did you hear me?" Caitlin look up. "We're going down to the accelerator ring."
"Actually, Dr. Wells" Barry cut in, seeing the distress on Caitlin's face. "I could use Caitlin's help identifying the poison gas." Wells nodded.
"Okay."
"If that's okay with you?" Caitlin turned her head to look at Robin, sending her a worried look. Robin returned it with a 'I'll be fine' smile. Caitlin nodded.
"Let's go."
-
Cisco, Robin and Wells walked into the ring. They stopped and watched the bust door open before they moved inside. Cisco kept casting worried glances at Robin, not knowing why she hadn't gone with Barry as well.
"The copper in the tube is arranged to form cavities, and we can use those cavities as containment cells." They stopped and looked at the huge room. Robin gazed at it before she turned her head to the right, towards the main power system.
//Nine months ago//
"Tonight, the future begins." Robin grinned from beside her best friends, looking more alive than ever. "The work my team and I will do here will change our understanding of physics, will bring about advancements in power, advancements in medicine. And trust me, that future will be here faster than you think." The scene changed to the lab, one that looked more clean and full than the present one. Cisco walked over to Wells.
"Dr. Wells, we just got the latest weather report. A big thunderstorm is rolling in." He smiled.
"We're not launching a space shuttle. We'll be fine." Cisco nodded and moved back to the desk, were Robin was smiling at him. Caitlin walked towards them with Ronnie behind her. Robin stood up.
"Dr. Wells, the accelerator is primed and ready for particle injection." Wells nodded. He stepped behind the desk and beamed.
"Well, I feel I should say something profound like 'one small step for man,' but all I can think of to say is, I feel like I've waited for this day for centuries." They chuckled. Wells reached down and touched the screen. There was a buzz as the machine started. Cisco smiled.
"That's it? You'd think there'd be, like, a loud bang." Ronnie looked at him.
"If there was a loud bang, we'd all be in big trouble." Caitlin smiled.
"Take it from the guy who helped build it."
"Ladies and gentlemen, we did it." Everyone cheered. Robin turned her head to see Ronnie and Caitlin kiss. Wells opened the Champaign bottle but everyone fell silent when the Champaign floated upwards. Everything happened very fast after that. The Champaign fell, alarms started blaring and an explosion was heard.
"Was that..."
//Present//
Robin winched, pulling herself out of her flashback. She turned her head to see Cisco looking at the door, Wells gone. Wells rolled back in and send her a sad smile. She stepped towards Cisco and placed her hand on his shoulder. He blinked and turned to her.
"Cisco, we're ready to go." Cisco nodded and walked away, Robin close behind.
"Must be hard" Wells started as they passed him. "-coming back down here. A lot happened that night. If you feel the need to talk..."
"I was just thinking, we need to nail those voltage calculations." Cisco explained, changing the subject. "One fault, and the helium blowback could damage the mountings." Wells nodded, not happy that he didn't answer.
"Smart."
They hadn't even rounded the corner when Robin's watch started to beep, signaling Barry had pulled on his suit. They quickly made their way to the control room. Robin turned on the screens.
"Barry. Barry, can you hear me?" She tried but she got nothing. Cisco pointed at the screen.
"His vitals are weak, but he's alive. I'm sure he's fine." With a gust of wind, Barry flew onto the desk, wheezing and coughing.
"I can't breathe." He gasped. Cisco pulled him up.
"He needs oxygen. Get the crash cart!"Cisco and Robin pulled Barry towards one of the beds and pushed him down.
"Cut me open. The poison's still in me." He wheezed. Cisco quickly scanned him, noticing the same thing.
"He brought us a sample. Robin, we need to do a pulmonary biopsy, extract an active portion of that gas." Robin's eyes widen.
"I don't know how to do that! That's Caitlin's thing."
"Well Caitlin isn't here!" Robin swallowed and looked down at Barry who was slowly turning purple.
"I can't give you any anesthetic. You'll burn right through it" She warned. Barry nodded.
"I heal quick, remember?" Wells nodded.
"Do it." Robin swallowed again and turned to Cisco.
"Cisco, give me the syringe." Cisco handed her a long needle, one that nearly made her faint. "This is gonna hurt a lot." She exhaled pointed the needle at Barry's chest, in the area she knew his lungs should be.
"It's a small needle. You probably won't even feel it." Cisco tried before he paled. "You're definitely going to feel it." Robin exhaled before she sunk the needle into Barry. He gasped in pain. As quickly as the needle went in it came out, now filled with green gas. Barry had fainted and Robin exhaled deeply. Cisco patted her on the back.
"Should I call you Doctor Grayson from now on?" Robin send him a tired glare and handed him the needle. Barry woke up fairly quickly. He opened his eyes, groaning.
"The Streak lives." Cisco grinned.
"You'd be dead if your didn't regenerate so quickly." Robin commented from behind Cisco. Barry rubbed his chest.
"My chest feels like that one time I had a cigarette." Barry joked but Robin didn't smile. "Yeah, teen me lived for danger."
"This isn't funny. You could've..." She stopped herself, her eyes turning sad, something that made Barry's heart clench.
"I didn't." Robin nodded and gently helping him up.
"Now that we have a sample, we'll get to work analyzing it, figure out the makeup of the poison, maybe get a clue as to his human identity." Wells commented from behind his desk.
"Or at least a way to stop him from turning into a mist." Cisco snapped his fingers. "The Mist. Okay, that's his name." Robin shook her head making Cisco sigh.
"I have to get to the station." Barry grunted, standing up.
"You should be resting."
"I have to talk to Joe." Robin sighed and supported him.
"I'll go with you, I need to pick up Caitlin" Wells nodded an together the two walked out. Barry groaned, remembering Caitlin. Robin chuckled in response.
-
Robin had found Caitlin pretty easily and had taken her back to S.T.A.R. Labs. Robin than decided she needed to swallow her fear so she headed back to the particle accelerator ring. Barry had returned as well and sat down next to Caitlin.
"I'm sorry. I didn't mean to scare you, leaving like that." Caitlin smiled.
"It's okay. I get it. You had to go. It's just... that's the last thing that Ronnie said to me that night." Barry sighed.
"My mother died 14 years ago. I used to think that the further away I got from it, the less it would hurt. But some days, the pain, it's worse than the day that it happened. Some things you can't fight." Caitlin looked up.
"For so long, I've been terrified of going into that hole."
"What if I went with you?" Caitlin shook her head.
"No- I need some more time." Barry nodded. "But I think Robin needs you right now" Barry frowned.
"Why me?" Caitlin smiled.
"Because since you woke up she started acting like her old self again. You are helping her Barry, more than me or Cisco can" Barry stared at her before he stood up.
"Do you know where she is?" Caitlin nodded, her smile disappearing.
"The ring." Barry turned his head and headed towards it. When he walked into the hallway leading towards it he spotted her, sitting in front of the bulk doors.
//Nine Months ago//
"There's an anomaly in the core chamber." Cisco stated, looking at the computer screen.
"The ring's structural integrity is holding. It's started a chain reaction." Robin shook her head at her friends optimism.
"The system is collapsing." Wells nodded.
"We need to shut it down."
"We can't ramp down the accelerator from here. We need to do it manually."
"Go." Cisco nodded and ran to the door.
"I'll come with." Caitlin turned to him.
"Ronnie, no." Ronnie took her arms.
"I'm the lead engineer. I know how to operate the shutdown valve."
"It's not safe."
"Cait, I have to go" He kissed her and walked to Cisco. Robin sighed and pushed away from her desk.
"I'm coming"
"Not you too"
"I'm faster than both of them, you know that" They ran out of the room, Robin took off her heels along the way. Soon they reached the ring. Ronnie pressed the button, opening the bulk door.
"Okay, you stay here. We've only got a few minutes before this thing blows, and if I'm not back in time, you need to initiate lockdown." Cisco shook his head, seeing Robin stepping next to Ronnie.
"No way. I am not closing this door. I won't be able to open it again."
"Cisco, if you don't seal off the blast, everyone in this building will die, including Caitlin." Cisco thought about it. "Okay, now promise me. Set your watch. Two minutes." Cisco did as told. Ronnie turned to Robin. She beat him to it.
"I'm not letting you go in there alone, I'm going to turn of the main power while you stop the accelerator. You can't do both" Ronnie sighed but nodded. Robin reached over and hugged Cisco before she bolted off to the right, towards the main power supply.
Cisco watched both of his friends run off. "You're coming back." The seconds ticked away until there were none left. Cisco looked up, frightened before he remembered his promise and sealed the door.
//Present//
Barry watched as Robin winched and blinked. He slowed his walk and sat down next to her.
"Are you alright?" Robin nodded and exhaled, rubbing her face.
"Yeah, peachy." Barry shook his head.
"Why don't I believe you" They looked at the door. "Is this were it happened?" Robin nodded.
"By closing the bulk door Cisco saved the lives of everyone in this building. He still blames himself for it" Barry turned his head to watch her. While her voice remained flat Barry saw through her iron mask and pulled her towards him. She froze for a second before she hugged him back. Tears rolled down her cheeks as she finally released them. Barry squeezed her tightly, for some reason liking the feeling of her in his arms. She smelled like lavender shampoo.
"Barry, Robin, you down there?" They broke apart, Robin quickly brushed her tears away. "You got to come look at this." Robin got up and nodded at Barry.
"Let's go" Barry watched her go before he stood up as well. Something was going on, something she wasn't telling him.
-
"Hey, check this out" Cisco said as Robin and Barry walked back into the room. "It's a 3D molecular model of the gas we retrieved from your lungs."
"We have identified the toxin."
"Hydrogen cyanide?"
"What's interesting is what's mixed in with the cyanide... A sedative."
"Of course." Barry breathed. "The night of the explosion, find out if anyone was executed." Robin nodded and walked to the computer.
"Why?"
"That sedative is given to criminals on death row before they go to the gas chamber and breathe in hydrogen cyanide." Wells nodded, catching on.
"That's right." Robin typed away, bringing up another screen.
"There was someone executed. Kyle Nimbus." Barry pointed at the screen.
"That's him."
"He was a hit man for the Darbinyan crime family." Robin read out loud. "They turned on him and testified. Judge Theresa Howard was the judge at his trial. She sentenced him to death."
"He must have been affected by the explosion while he was being gassed. Records indicate the execution was completed."
"That's why there wasn't a match. The DNA database only has records of the living."
"He said there was one more person on his list. Check the arrest record. Who caught him? That could be his next attack." Robin nodded and read on before she stopped.
"Barry, the lead detective is Jo" Before they could blink Barry was gone. Half an hour later and they had successfully brought down Kyle Nimbus or Mist as Cisco insisted on calling him.
Jo had ended up in the hospital so when Barry went to visit him Robin offered to join him. Robin smiled softly as she walked past a sleeping Barry towards Jo. He smiled at her and took the cup out of her hands. They had been reintroduced by Barry when they had arrived. Jo actually really liked this girl, she cared for Barry. He could see that. Barry slowly opened his eyes.
"It's been a while since I watched you sleep." Barry smiled.
"Rescuing you is exhausting." They chuckled and Barry stood up.
"I really miss the ability to be able to ground you." He walked towards them, smiling as Robin handed him a cup of hot chocolate.
"Sorry I went and grew up." He stopped and turned serious. "I could have got my dad out of Iron Heights tonight."
"I know"
"But you were right. That's not the way." They smiled at each other before Iris ran into the room. Barry stepped away from the bed.
"Daddy."
"Oh. Baby, I'm fine. Don't worry."
"We'll let you guys talk." Robin nodded and with Barry, she walked out of the room. She threw away her cup and turned to Barry.
"I still haven't thanked you for before" Barry gave her a crooked smile and shook his head.
"You don't have to." Robin smiled.
"But still, thank you Barry Allen" Barry rubbed the back of his neck.
"No problem"

So I finally did it!! A Flash fanfic. I have already written about 9 chapters but I still need to edit them.
I would like to also cross Robin over to the Arrow serie but as you might have read, I have plans for that as well. I hope you all enjoy it and leave a comment if you have any ideas or suggestion.
