Flash 1
"Cisco, have you seen my heels?" Robin muttered, trying to tie her bracelet around her wrist using her teeth. Cisco grumbled something under his breath and stood up from the couch. He walked into the bedroom and re-emerged with her black heels seconds later. "Thank you" Robin exhaled, taking the heels.
"I don't know why you're getting all dressed up, it's just one thing" Robin gasped, standing up, her heels on her feet.
"Cisco, we worked hard for this, you worked hard for this. I mean, it is THE particle accelerator" Cisco tried to remain stoic but failed when his lips curled up.
"Oke, your right" He smiled and walked to the hall mirror. Caitlin emerged from the bathroom, also in a dress. She beamed and walked over to Robin.
"We look so hot" Robin snorted and elbowed her in the ribs.
"You have a boyfriend. Uh no wait, fiancé" Caitlin flushed and started doing her hair. Robin watched her two friends with a fond smile.
-
Caitlin, Cisco and Robin stood on the stage, large grin's on their face. Harrison Wells, the head scientist and founder of STAR labs stood in front of the stage.
"Thank you. My name is Harrison Wells. Tonight, the future begins. The work my team and I will do here will change our understanding of physics. We'll bring about advancements in power, advancements in medicine, and trust me, that future will be here faster than you think" The crowd applauded. The group soaked up all the attention until something in the crowd caught Robin's eye.
"I need to go to the bathroom" She whispered to Caitlin. She send her friend a disapproving look before she nodded, signaling she would cover for her. Robin send her a smile and left the stage unnoticed. She slipped out of the back door and scanned the deserted ally.
"-Just give me back my friend's bag, and we'll call it even." Robin's head snapped to the direction of the voice and ran towards it. She rounded the last corner and saw a man who she had seen stealing someone's bag and the man who she had seen running after him. The robber had just hit the other man in the stomach, causing him to hunch over.
Robin quickly took a loose pipe that had been sitting next to the garbage can and smacked the man over the head. He fell to the ground with a loud tud. Robin dropped the pipe and crouched down to take the bag back from the man.
She stood back up, the bag loosely in her hands when she noticed the other man clutching his nose. Robin stepped over to him and crouched down next to him. "Are you alright?" The man nodded blindly. Robin nodded as well and carefully helped him off the wet floor. Just than did another woman arrived. She gasped at the sight of them.
"Barry!" She sped towards the man Robin had been helping. She carefully took him into her arms, giving Robin the freedom to wipe her hands on her dress. "Are you alright?" Barry nodded, realizing Iris had just arrived. But then who had helped him? Iris nodded, not entirely convinced.
"I take it this is yours?" Iris finally turned to the woman in front of her. She was holding out her bag. Iris nodded, very grateful.
"Yes it is, thank you." She took the bag from her and placed it around her shoulder.
"You're welcome, I'm sorry this happened. Apparently the security wasn't that tight." She muttered the end before she reached down and dug through her pockets. (Yes her dress has pockets) She withdrew her hand and held out a card. "Here, call me if there is any damage to your belongings, S.T.A.R. labs will cover it" Iris carefully took it. Barry finally opened his eyes and realized who this woman was.
"You're Robin Grayson. One of the scientist who worked on the accelerator." Robin smiled and nodded.
"That's me, nice to meet you"
"I'm Iris and this idiot is Barry"
"I will take it from here, everyone back away!" A voice warned. The trio turned around to see a cop running towards them, his gun drawn and pointed at the criminal.
"A bit late, aren't you" Robin grinned at Iris.
"I should head back, it was nice to meet you" Barry nodded, rubbing the bump that was forming on his head.
"Thank you" Robin winked.
"No problem" She nodded at the cop before she left.
-
[9 months later]
"MA MA MA MA~"
"What are you doing?" A unknown voice asked.
"He likes this song." Another voice replied.
"How could you possibly know that?"
"You'll be astound what can be found on facebook" Another new voice explained.
"I mean, he can hear everything, right?"
"Auditory functions are the last sensory faculties to degenerate."
"Can't read my no he can't read my poker..."The lifeless body that had been laying on the table shot up with a gasp.
"Oh, my God!" The second voice gasped, definitely male.
"Where am I?" Barry blinked, wiping the sensors off his face.
"Get Doctor Wells"
"He's up. Dr. Wells, get down to the cortex, like, right now." Cisco, the male voice, threw away his strawberry candy string and raced back to Barry. Barry blinked again, a powerful light beam being shone into his eyes.
"Pulse 120, pupils equally reactive to light. Look at me, look at me."
"Caitlin, give him some air" The woman who had the flashlight was pulled away, giving Barry some room. He used this room to sit up and remove all the sensors.
"Hey, hey, whoa, whoa, relax. Everything's okay, man." Cisco tried, pushing him back onto the bed, seeing Barry nearly stand up. "You're at S.T.A.R. Labs."
"S.T.A.R. Labs? Who are you?" Barry asked, eying Cisco.
"I'm Cisco Ramon. She's Caitlin... Dr. Snow and this is-" A cup was pushed in Barry's face, cutting Cisco off.
"I need you to urinate in this."
"Caitlin" A voice groaned, grabbing the cup and tossing it away. Barry caught sight of the woman, seeing he hadn't been introduced. She wasn't very tall, smaller than he was. Her hair was dark brown, nearly black and pulled into a bun and she wore sunglasses, inside. Barry shook himself out of his stare and stood up.
"What is... what is happening? What is going on?"
"You were struck by lightning, dude." Cisco gently explained.
"What?" Barry turned around, most likely to flee when he came face to face with a mirror. He looked the same except for muscles that had appeared on his stomach. "Lightning gave me abs?" Caitlin stepped towards him, about to touch his muscles when the other woman spoke up.
"Your muscles should be atrophied" Caitlin stepped away from Barry, giving him the opportunity to look at the woman. She had moved a little bit back and had pulled up a chair. "-but instead they're in a chronic and unexplained state of cellular regeneration."
"Come here. Have a seat." Cisco grabbed his arms and pushed him into the chair. "You were in a coma."
"For how long?"
"Nine months. Welcome back, Mr. Allen. We have a lot to discuss." Barry looked away from Cisco and towards the new voice. There sat the man himself, Harrison Wells. The only difference was that he was bound to a wheelchair. The still unknown woman walked over and handed Barry something. He looked up at her, feeling like he had seen her before he looked back at the bundle in his hands.
"You might want to put something on" Barry nodded blindly and quickly pulled the hoodie on before he followed Wells out of the room. The trio watched them leave before Cisco smiled.
"Coffee?" Caitlin and the woman nodded.
"Coffee"
-
The three of them had just grabbed themselves something to drink when Barry and Wells entered the room.
"-West and his daughter gave me permission to bring you here, where we were able to stabilize you."
"Iris?"
"Iris, yes. She came to see you quite often."
"She talks a lot." Caitlin added, handing Wells his coffee. The woman took a gulp out of her own mug before she moved closer and handed Barry a cup of water. He took it and took a small sip, his mouth feeling extremely dry.
"She's hot." Cisco smirked.
"I need to go." Barry placed his cup back down and walked to the door.
"No, you can't."
"No, no. No, Caitlin's right. No, now that you're awake, we need to do more tests. You're still going through changes. There's so much that we don't know." Barry smiled turning to them.
"I'm fine. Really, I feel normal. Thank you for saving my life." He thanked them before he disappeared into the hallway.
"Really?" Cisco sighed. To their surprise Barry reappeared, poking his head back into the kitchen.
"Can I keep the sweatshirt?" Wells sighed but nodded.
"Yeah, keep the sweatshirt."
"Okay." Barry nodded and left, for good this time. Caitlin sighed.
"Well, that was a total waste of time" The woman shrugged and walked to Barry's cup. She gently took it.
"I wouldn't say that. At least we have a saliva sample" Caitlin grinned and took the cup.
"Still as sneaky as ever, Robin"
-
"You don't really believe he can run that fast, do you?"
"Well, I believe anything is possible, and in a few minutes, maybe you will too." Robin sat on one of the chairs that the mobile truck of S.T.A.R. labs had provided. Her trusty laptop in front of her. Her eyes moved away from the screen, to the truck.
"How does it fit?" The door opened and Barry stepped out, dressed in a very tight suit with bracers around his arms and knees and a helmet on his head. Robin looked away from him, back to her laptop. Barry had finally remembered where he had seen her before, but to his defense. She looked so different now.
"It's a little snug."
"At least you will be moving so fast no one will see you." Cisco joked, slapping Barry on the back. "See, you thought the world was slowing down. It wasn't. You were moving so fast it only looked like everyone else was standing still." They moved away from the truck. "Dr. Wells will be monitoring your energy output, and Caitlin, your vitals and Robin will be in direct contact with you."
"What do you do?" Cisco grinned.
"I make the toys, my man. Check it." He held up a badge with a yellow lightning symbol on it. "This is a two-way headset with a camera I modified. Typically designed to combat battlefield impulse noise, or in your case, potential sonic booms, which would be awesome." He chuckled and took Barry's helmet to the desk. Barry grinned before Caitlin walked over and touched his heartbeat monitor. Barry eyed her.
"What?"
"Nothing. I just noticed you don't smile too much."
"My once promising career in bioengineering is over, my boss is in a wheelchair for life, the explosion that put you in a coma also killed my best friend and fiancé. So this blank expression kind of feels like the way to go."Barry's smile disappeared as he watched her go. Now it was Robin's turn. She left her spot and walked over to him. She handed him a rod like device.
"Here, take this. When you are running and you feel any pain or disorientation you press this button and we will stop the test."
"So, it's like a panic button" Robin looked at him through her thick framed sunglasses.
"Yes" She nodded before she retreated back to her desk. Barry watched her with a confused expression. Why was she so grim? She seemed so happy when he first met her. What had happened?
"Mr. Allen" Wells rolled over, snapping Barry out of his thoughts. "While I am extremely eager to determine your full range of abilities, I do caution restraint." Barry nodded, taking his helmet back from Cisco.
"Yeah." He send the team one last look before he walked to the starting point. Robin watched as he got in position before she clicked a button on her computer.
"Barry, can you hear me?" Barry nodded.
"Yeah" Robin gave Cisco a nod, giving him the Oke. Barry exhaled deeply before he took off.
The force he caused when he took off nearly knocked over the tent. Robin kept her eyes on her laptop, secretly very glad she had put weights on her papers.
"He just passed 200 Miles per hour." Cisco shouted, very excited.
"It's not possible." Robin's eyes widen as she noticed how fast Barry was going. She quickly pushed a couple of buttons.
"Barry, you need to stop! Your reaching the end of the track!" Caitlin ran over to her, realising what was happening. "BARRY!" Robin shrieked before Barry crashed into the water barrels at the end of the track. Robin could hear Barry groan through the microphone. "Hold on Barry, we're coming" Robin told him before she shut off the microphone and jumped off her chair. Cisco, who was very prepared apparently, tossed her the keys of the S.T.A.R. Labs car. Robin caught it and ran to her car. "Caitlin, do you have a first aid kit?" Robin hopped in the car. Caitlin nodded, the so called box already in her arms.
"Yes" Caitlin climbed in the back of the car. Not even waiting until their belts were secured, Robin pushed down on the paddle. The car zoomed forwards, ready to pick up Barry.
-
"It looks like you had a distal radius fracture." Caitlin explained, showing Barry an x-ray of his wrist. Within minutes they had reached Barry and brought him back to S.T.A.R. Labs. There Caitlin had taken Barry for treatment while Robin went back to help Cisco and Wells clean up.
"Had?"
"It's healed... In three hours."
"How is that even possible?" Caitlin shrugged. The door opened and Robin walked in with Cisco. Cisco send Barry a smile while Robin went straight back to her desk. Wells rolled into the room a second later.
"We don't know... yet." Cisco walked over to Barry, holding up the now broken helmet.
"You really need to learn how to stop." Barry send him a sorry look.
"What happened out there today? You were moving pretty well, and then something caused you to lose focus." Barry turned to look at him.
"I started remembering something. When I was 11, my mother was murdered." Everyone stopped what they were doing and turned to look at him. "It was late. A sound woke me up. I came downstairs and... I saw what looked like a ball of lightning. Inside the lightning, there was a man. He killed my mom. They arrested my dad. He's still sitting in Iron Heights for her murder. Everyone, the cops, the shrinks, they all told me what I saw was impossible. But what if the man who killed my mom was like me?" Everyone was quiet. Robin ran a hand through her hair, letting the new information sink.
"Well, I think I can say unequivocally you are one of a kind." Barry stared at him. He swallowed before he nodded and looked down at his wrist.
"Is it alright if I go out?" Wells thought for a moment before he nodded. Barry stood up and walked to grab his jacked. Robin finally snapped out of her thought and turned back to her screen. Barry waved at them before he left the room. Robin exhaled deeply and moved to put her head in her hands. Not before pulling off her sunglasses. She rubbed her eyes and rested her head.
"Are you oke?" Cisco asked. Robin turned to look at him. She send him a small smile.
"Yeah, just tired." Cisco reached over and shut her laptop.
"Than its time to get some coffee" Robin chuckled and nodded. She stood up, grabbed her sunglasses and followed Cisco out.
-
"So, how are you holding up" Robin sighed and looked down at her cup, decaf coffee.
"Fine I guess, I mean it's just a lot to take in." Cisco nodded, watching his friend. "I mean, if I had just been a little bit faster than maybe I could ha-"
"But you weren't Robin, and you can't change what has happened" Robin nodded and took another sip of her steaming coffee. Cisco watched her carefully before he grinned. Robin frowned, not getting it.
"What?"
"I just imagined you wearing that tight red suit" Robin thought for a moment before she grinned. "I saw that" Robin looked up to see Cisco pointing at her face. "Caitlin owes me lunch!" Robin laughed, realising they had bet on who could make her smile.
"We should head back" Cisco nodded and stood up. Robin reached in her pocket and placed some bills on the table.
"Let's go"
-
When the two finally made it back, Robin still smiling, Barry stormed in.
"I wasn't the only one affected by the particle accelerator explosion, was I?" Robin sat down behind her desk, already knowing what Barry was after. Wells glanced towards them, his eyes falling more on Robin though.
"We don't know for sure."
"You said the city was safe, that there was no residual danger. But that's not true, so what really happened that night?"
"Well... The accelerator went active. We all felt like heroes, and then... It all went wrong." He typed something on his tabled and a projection appeared on the screen on the wall. "The dimensional barrier ruptured, unleashing unknown energies into our world. Antimatter, dark energy, x-elements..."
"Those are all theoretical."
"And how theoretical are you?"
"We mapped the dispersion throughout and around Central City. Though we have no way of knowing exactly what or..."
"Who was exposed, we've been searching for other meta-humans like yourself." Caitlin added. Barry frowned.
"'Meta-humans'?" Robin nodded.
"That's what we're calling them."
"I saw one today. He's a bank robber, and he can control the weather." Cisco grinned.
"This just keeps getting cooler."
"This is not cool. All right? A man died. Mardon must have gotten his powers the same way I did. From the storm cloud. He's still out there. We have to stop him before he hurts anyone else." Barry stalked back to the door but Wells stopped him.
"Barry!" Barry turned back around to see Wells staring at him, completely calm. "That's a job for the police."
"I work for the police."
"As a forensic assistant."
"You're responsible for this. For him." Wells finally snapped.
"What's important is you! Not me. I lost everything. I lost my company. I lost my reputation. I lost my freedom. And then you broke your arm, and it healed in three hours. Inside your body could be a map to a whole new world... Genetic therapies, vaccines, medicines, treasures buried deep within your cells and we cannot risk losing everything because you want to go out and play hero!" He shouted. "You're not a hero. You are just a young man who was struck by lightning." Robin watched as Barry ran out of the building with top speed. Wells sighed. "He needed to hear the truth" He muttered before he rolled himself away.
Robin blinked, seeing a bleep appear on her laptop. She frowned, seeing it was from Cisco. Robin looked at him and raised her eyebrow. He replied with a smirk and a bob of his head. Robin turned back to her laptop and opened the file. It was a blueprint of a suit. It was crimson with lots of tech build into it. The chat box opened.
'Do you think you can make it?' Robin took off her sunglasses and eyed the blueprint. It needed some adjustments but it looked pretty neat so she sighed and turned back to the chat box.
'What do you think?' She could feel Cisco beam from behind his desk as she opened up the file that contained a complete log on what they had in the storage units.
-
"-So that's my story." Barry explained, standing on a rooftop in starling city with the one and only Green Arrow. Or Oliver Queen, it all depends on how you look at it. Next to Oliver stood a woman, his partner in crime, Artemis. Otherwise known as Neptune. The two of had some pretty serious history. "I've spent my whole life searching for the impossible, never imagining that I would become the impossible."
"So why come to me? Something tells me you didn't just run 600 Miles to say "hi" to some friends."
"All my life, I've wanted to just do more... Be more. And now I am. And the first chance I get to help someone, I screw up. What if Wells is right? What if I'm not a hero? What if I'm just some guy who was struck by lightning?" Anna smiled.
"I don't think that bolt of lightning struck you, Barry. I think it chose you."
"I'm just not sure I'm like you. I don't know if I can be some... vigilante." Oliver smiled, turning to face Barry.
"You can be better. Because you can inspire people in a way that I never could... Watching over your city like a guardian angel... Making a difference... Saving people... In a flash. Take your own advice. Wear a mask." He took out is bow and shot an arrow at a nearby building. The arrow hit its target and Oliver jumped off the building. He soared trough the sky, using the zip line he had created. Anna send Barry a last smile before she too jumped off the building, creating a wave of water underneath her to slow her fall.
"Cool." Barry grinned watching them before he sped away. Oliver watched him go with a smile.
"Cool."
-
"I've been going over unsolved cases from the past nine months" Barry started, placing the last file box on the table. For the first time he saw Robin without her sunglasses and he was trying his hardest not to stare. Her eyes an odd shade of blue. "And there's been a sharp increase in unexplained deaths and missing people. Your meta-humans have been busy. Now, I'm not blaming you. I know you didn't mean for any of this to happen. I know you all lost something." He stopped a moment, his eyes falling onto Caitlin "But I need your help to catch Mardon and anyone else out there like him. But I can't do it without you." He stopped and looked at them. Robin unfolded her arms and took one of the file's. She read it before she looked up and met Cisco's eyes. He grinned, seeing she what she was thinking.
"If we're gonna do this, I have something that might help." He bounced on his feet before he grabbed Robin's hand and ran to the other room. The others had no choice but to follow them. Cisco turned a table and there lay a new suit. Perfect crimson with leather pieces and gadgets. "Something I've been playing with. With some help of Robin" Robin raised her eyebrow.
"I sowed the whole thing" She smiled though making Barry smile too. Cisco playfully rolled his eyes.
"Yes but it's designed to replace the turnouts fire-fighters traditionally wear. I thought if S.T.A.R. Labs could do something nice for the community, maybe people wouldn't be so angry at Dr. Wells anymore."
"How is it going to help me?" Cisco opened his mouth but Robin beat him to it.
"It's made of a reinforced tri-polymer. It's heat and abrasive resistant, so it should withstand your moving at high-velocity speeds. And the aerodynamic design should help you maintain control. Plus, it has built-in sensors so we can track your vitals and stay in contact with you from here."
"Thanks. Now how do we find Mardon?" Caitlin held up her tablet.
"I retasked S.T.A.R. Labs satellite to track meteorological abnormalities over Central City. We just got a ping. Atmospheric pressure dropped 20 millibars in a matter of seconds. I've tracked it to a farm just west of the city." Barry stared at his suit before he nodded.
-
A couple of minutes later, Barry was off and the team sat behind their desks.
"Barry, can you hear me?" Robin asked, she again in charge of the communication. Barry pressed his ear, very glad to hear her voice at the moment.
"Yeah. Loud and clear."
"If it keeps up, this could become an F-5 tornado."
"But it's headed towards the city. How do I stop it?" Robin ran a hand through her hair, trying to think of something. "Guys? What if I unravel it?" Robin's eyes widen, she turned to Cisco.
"How the hell are you going to do that?"
"I'll run around it in the opposite direction, cut off its legs." Cisco shook his head.
"He'd have to clock 700 Miles-per-hour to do that." Robin looked back at her computer.
"Your body may not be able to handle those speeds. You will die."
"I have to try." Robin grumbled something and started typing things on her laptop.
"What are you doing?"
"Trying to manually upgrade the fabric off his suit" Cisco nodded and opened the same file. It was dead silent in the room before Caitlin laughed.
"The suit's holding up!" Robin stopped typing and moved back to the microphone.
"He can do it. I know he can do it." There was a grunt before Barry spoke.
"It's too strong!" The door opened and Wells rolled in. He moved over to the other microphone.
"You can do this, Barry. You were right. I am responsible for all of this. So many people have been hurt because of me, and when I looked at you, all I saw was another potential victim of my hubris. And yes, I created this madness, but you, Barry, you can stop it. You can do this. Now run, Barry, run!" the line turned silent again, and they watched on the screen as the tornado lessened and lessened until it imploded. The team turned their heads to Robin.
"Barry?" She tried, hearing nothing, no heartbeat, no breathing. That was until Barry spoke.
"Hey guys? I'm still here" Robin closed her eyes and released the breath she didn't knew she was holding.
"I'm gonna need a lot more caffeine" Cisco and Caitlin laughed while Robin placed her head on the computer screen. Wells smiled at them, knowing his plan had been put into action.
