Chapter 13

The city was almost at it's edge of sleeping. Only lights coming from shops which stay open the whole night and the flickering street lights. There were exceptions within the crowd of commoners though, those who were too anxious to allow sleep consume them and others who did not want to miss the jovial glory of the night time.

Palpitating heartbeat and daunting nervousness was what took over Y/N this nigjt, as she drove to the intended destination with a fluctuating speed, depending on her thoughts. Her hands were clammy from the images that travelled within her mind. Eyes focused on the road like a falcon fixing it's eye on it's prey.

Only thing that Y/N noticed other than the disturbing thoughts was the sound of the harsh movement of the tire against the concrete road. Her mind was flooded with different possibilities and assumptions which remained hazy. She soon came across a very familiar street. The surroundings were posh and had modernly designed houses, but none of that bothered Y/N, she just needed to get out of this pool of anxiety and this was the solution she could think of. She soon came across yet another modern house which was decorated with wood but the exception about this house compared to others was that, the lights were on. A deep breath left her mouth as she parked her car in the designated spot and got out.
The shivery wind hit her naked arms as she rubbed them cautiously in attempt to hide it from the coldness of the weather. Her feet stood infront of the beige brown door and she rang the doorbell, alerting her arrival to the presence inside.

Pattering sound of feet moving could be heard as the door clicked open to reveal a man with jet black hair and tall height staring at her with a look of concern plastered over his face.

"Hello Y/N! Come in!" The man said as a warm and welcoming aura took over him.

"Sorry for bothering you this late..." Y/N said with an apologetic look.

"Oh no it's no bother. Mila and I are more than happy to have you over anytime!" He exclaimed with a smile which Y/N returned.

"Thank you Namjoon" Y/N said looking down to her feet.

"Hey Y/N!" An adenoidal voice called out.

Y/N looked to the direction to see a pale redhead coming towards her with a baby in her hands which mirrored her skin colour but the hair colour was that of his fathers.

"Hey Mila... It's been long" Y/N replied hugging her.

"Yes it has! And your still as dead as ever" Mila exclaimed mocking Y/N's monotone reaction, which made Y/N roll her eyes.

"And this must be Kevin" Y/N said pinching the cheeks of the young boy who giggle at the gesture making her smile.

"How old is he now?" Y/N asked as she felt her interest peak at the friendly toddler

"He turned a year last month" Namjoon answered her question.

Namjoon and Y/N had met six years ago through some official purpose and throughout that process they had become very good friends. He was probably one of the only friends Y/N had as her group was kept to a minimum. Namjoon met his wife, Mila who was a Swedish lady, three years ago. They had dated for a year until they decided to get married. They welcomed their first child last year. Mila is a good soul but can be fierce at times, which made Y/N admire her and thus they turned out to be good friends.

Namjoon and Mila had gone through a time of financial crisis when they first got married as Namjoon's job kept having fluctuations. At that time Y/N helped them financially, since she was stable and also assisted him to find a job which gave them the stability they needed. This is the very reason, why this family appreciates her presence so much and they are willing to do anything in hand to help her.

"Well he turned out to be adorable. Looks like not being able to control hormones does give great result" Y/N teased making Namjoon and Mila's cheek turn to a shade of red.

Y/N loved teasing the both about how soon they had a child and it got them every single time. Namjoon cleared his throat and spoke.

"Okay. So you said you needed my help?" Namjoon asked raising an eyebrow

Y/N's expression changed at the mention of the topic as she remembered her reason of arrival in the first place. She nodded. Her eyes fell to Mila who was distracted taking care of her son.

"So what's wrong? You sounded tense.." Namjoon said as concern once again took over his face for his friend

"Can we talk in your study room?" Y/N said as desperation leaped from her voice.

Namjoon nodded to the request and led her to the place she requested to be. Y/N entered the room to be met by the smell of books. Nostalgia invaded her veins as she experienced a sudden deja vu. She furrowed her eyebrows as hazy visions travelled through her mind as if she had been through this before. She shook off her thoughts and took a seat as Namjoon offered.

"Okay now speak up cause you're scaring me" Namjoon said, twitching his left leg indicating his impatience.

"I have been receiving few texts" Y/N confessed.

"Texts as in?" Namjoon spoke as his scrutinizing behaviour came to show.

Namjoon was a detective. It took him a while to prove himself efficient in the proffesional field but he was able to and now is known as one of the most skilled detectives in the department. That is why Y/N chose to come to him for help as she knew sooner or later she will receive an outcome.

"Threatening texts" Y/N declared forwarding her phone to Namjoon, who took it from her and stared at the screen with an analysing gaze as he scrolled up. His eyes lingered on them. Y/N observed him trying to understand his thoughts but they say detectives are not predictable neither are there expressions.

"Someone is following you. This is stalking and that is considered a criminal act. Serious action has to be taken against the person doing all this. Sooner or later this person will cause harm to you" Namjoon said darkly.

"So what to do now? I have been receiving these texts for a while now. At first I ignored them thinking, it's some sort of sick prank teenagers do these days, but they kept getting more and more serious. To the point, this person is following me to everywhere I go and keeping note of everyone I speak to despite the place being empty. Like I see no one around but that person is watching me" Y/N exclaimed with a hint of discomfort.

"Hmm. Anyone you find suspicious? For example, someone who seems to be acting sketchy around you?" Namjoon interrogated.

"Not really. I haven't found anyone doing such activities" Y/N replied after giving it a thought.

"Okay. This person seems to be very careful. He or she has planned out the whole thing very cautiously. This needs thorough but meticulous. We have to make sure that person does not get a hint. I will take this case down myself" Namjoon declared.

"No no. It's fine you don't have to bother yourself. I came to you so that you could suggest someone else in the same field as you to help me out. So I wouldn't feel like I am bothering you" Y/N said fiddling with her fingers

"Y/N there is nothing to feel this way. You've helped us when no one did. So when your in a problem, it's my responsibility to help you" Namjoon said in an assuring voice, giving Y/N a sense of relief.

"Thank you" Y/N replied

"No problem and don't worry. You give me a written report of what ever has happened and I will file the case." Namjoon reassured making Y/N give off a smile of gratitude.

"We will go to the root of this"

Pages of documents were sprawled around the table as distress took over Y/N. She scanned each and every document with a lot of attention.

After the meeting with Namjoon yesterday, she straight went home and fortunately slept the night peacefully. No new messages have bothered her which she was thankful for. She expected something but nothing came which was surprising but at the same time relieving.

It was two in the afternoon and she was working like there is no tomorrow since there are a lot patients who have arrived to her access her help. She had not met Hoseok today but she wondered where he was but that was just a thought in the back of her mind.

The ringing of the telecom took her attention making her sigh. She picked up the call to be met by the voice of her assistant.

Elena : Hello ma'am?

Y/N : Yes Elena? How may I help you?

Elena : Ma'am I just got a call from the reception reporting me that there was a problem with your car.

Y/N : My car? What would that be?

Elena : Two people wearing black with their faces covered had suddenly and thrashed your car.

The words coming out of Elena's mouth sounded surreal as she took a moment to decipher what has been said.

Y/N : What?!

Elena : Yes ma'am. They are asking for your presence downstairs to check the condition.

Y/N : Okay I am coming.

Y/N said hanging up the call as she head out of her room to be met by Elena who was standing there rigid waiting for her. Noticing Y/N, she began to walk behind her.

Y/N still could not believe what has been said to her. Why would someone suddenly cause damage to her car? She was utterly confused. Somehow her subconscious gave her a hint of who it could be. She took quickened steps, impatient to reach the scene.

She soon reached downstairs and head to the parking area. There were few people surrounding the place of her parking as they murmured among themselves.

Reaching the area with quickened steps her eyes fell upon the car. It was brutally thrashed and the front was absolutely damaged with the glass absolutely shattered to pieces. Suddenly, her phone dinged indicating she got a text. A negative feeling took over her as the urge to check the text came into her. She felt as if, it was related to the situation.

As soon as she opened her notifications and checked the text her assumptions became crystal clear. The text said.

'Hope you liked the renovation I gave to your car. Be careful from next time whom you take help from.'

Eid Mubarak to everyone!
