Okay I know it's been a while I haven't updated but I was pretty much occupied.

How have you all been coping with the pandemic?

Oh silly me I forgot to ask how was Ramadan?pretty sad it's already leaving us behind. Ya rabbi ya maimaita mana Amin.

I wanted to post this chapter on the day of EID actually but then I realised I will be busy so I decided to just drop this right now so here it is.

      🥀Chapter 7🥀

"Make sure you dust the room properly Bintu."I said
to my helper that was brought to me few days back.

She wasn't actually a real made,we are kind of related,distant relatives of mama,her husband parents are dead and she's only 16 so mama suggested I take her at least I wouldn't be living alone since Mahfouz isn't back yet and I was living all alone.

Bintu is a nice girl and she's very respectful so we are living peacefully and I've grown to like her personality.

"Okay Aunty...what of the other room.?"she asked referring to Mahfouz's room.

"No I will clean that myself,you only clean the room next to it,oh and please be careful with things in there cause that's my co-wife's room."I said heading downstairs to the kitchen as I heard her answering to what I just told her.

I went straight to the kitchen with zero idea of what to cook for my mother inlaw,I wanted to visit her so I thought of cooking something to take to her but here I was confused of what to cook for her.After much though I decided to prepare something light since it's already 6:00pm and before I arrive there am sure she must have already ate dinner.

I opened my fridge and brought out frozen chicken and some vegetables for and red pepper.I washed the chicken first before blending the red peppers before I sliced the onions and some garlic and the set them all together on the gas,I added some seasonings and some tablespoons of vegetable oil and then I covered the pot for it to finish cooking.

I decided to grill some fish along with some potatoes to pair with the chicken peppered I just finished making.After I was done with the fish,I blended some watermelon with ice and then added fresh milk and honey(since it was more healthier than honey)after I was done blending.

I collected everything into a food basket before I went to take my birth and got dressed an A-lined gown which was made with Ankara.I wrapped matching hair tie before I grabbed a big veil that perfectly covered my body.

"I won't be gone for long bintu,oh I've kept some of the chicken and fries for you in the oven."I said heading towards the door as she followed me with the food basket.

"Okay Anty safe safe."she said as she opened the back seats and carefully kept the basket before closing the door.

"Thank you."I said as I zoomed out of the house.

Contemplating on wether to go to my in laws house first or to the hospital,I decided to go to my in laws then later I would stop by the hospital on my way back home.I drove in silence as I followed to the lyrics of a song that was playing softly

From the kitchen to the bathroom sink,your steps keep me away

The music came to a halt as I switched off the car engine since I've already arrived at my destination.I went straight to mama's side today unlike before that I would go to Aunty karime's side first then later on I would go to mama whenever I visited.

"Sannu da zuwa."The maid greeted me as she collected the basket of food while I held onto the watermelon drink that I prepared cause I didn't put it inside the basket to avoid it from spilling all over.

I saw mama sitted in the parlor and I had expected she was just having her dinner.

"Well done mama."I greeted sitting on soft rug near her.

"Sannu da zuwa."she greeted back asking the maid to bring another extra plate for me so that I could join her In eating.

"No thank you mama,I came here straight from home."I answered feeling happy for no reason.

"You mother called me earlier,she told me about the girl that was brought to you."she said still eating.

"Oh yes mama I left her home to finish the chores."I answered as the maid brought in the food warmers that I brought with the food inside.

"I made something for you mama."I said smiling warmly.

"Jazakallahu khair,Allah yayi albarka."she answered pouring some watermelon drink that I made and she drank silently.

After she was done eating,I quickly packed the plates before she could call the maid and took them to the kitchen.I couldn't miss how she was glaring at me when I would say something nice to her or when I was trying to be obedient as possible.

Checking the time I saw that it was only 30 minutes  until my appointment with the doctor so I decently said goodbyes to her and went to Aunty karime's and greeted her quickly before I left to the hospital.

Somehow the traffic was really bad today and I was getting late for the appointment so I decided to message the doctor's secretary so that she could told him why I was delayed and few minutes later she called me saying that the doctor had already checked out but he said I could meet him at his house.I sighed and changed route relieved that his house was even more closer to where I was hanging and hopefully there would be less traffic.

After less that 15minutes drive I arrived at Doctor Dawaki's apartment, his two children were playing football so I called them and handed them the carton of biscuit that I bought them on my way while they lead me inside the house.

I sat at the small waiting area that was made obviously because of patients that were meant to be consulted at the house the place was just like a waiting area just that it was a informal and had decorations of frames on the walls and some vases full of artificial flowers. I waited for a while before doctor Dawaki came in with some file on his hand which am sure is my medical report.

"Mrs Mahfouz how was the traffic,I had it was quite bad." He said as he sat on a one armed chair.

"Yes it was that was why I wasn't able to reach the hospital as planned,how are the reports." I asked nervously and at the same time  eager too.

"As I had told you before,the results turned out to be what I had expected. The reports came out positive and nothing serious to worry about." He said going through the reports again before passing it back to me.

I know I was meant to be happy hearing this but for some what reason I wasn't. Am tired of hearing nothing is the problem, all other doctors have been saying the same but if nothing is the problem then how am I still not able to conceive. At this moment I wanted to hear something is wrong with me,I know I sound weird but at least if I found out I would be able to seek for medical help right?.

"Look Mrs Mahfouz you are still young and capable you have a very high tendency of getting conceived maybe today or tomorrow or next tomorrow since you have once been pregnant I think its only the effect of drugs you've taken that's why but am sure its going to turn out well soon enough."doctor Dawaki further explained trying to convince me.

" okay then doctor thank you jskallahu khair."I said smiling warmly before I stepped out of the house .
