Chapter Four: American Boy

Denki decides he wants to at least meet his biological dad; he's met with some surprising revelations.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
A solid five years had passed and Denki's life could not have been any better.
The now twenty-five year old was living the absolute best life he could with the responsibilities he had. As a teacher, he was being the best he could be. He garnered a reputation of being the most fun teacher at UA, often hosting all of UA's events or throwing festivals or activities together for all classes, not just hero ones. As a gamer, he was the most popular gamer on Tap!Tube, with a following of over 20 million. And his hero career, well, let's just say he didn't stay in 20th place for long! The next year, Chargebolt ranked 9th, and the year after in 4th. He topped the popularity polls as well, getting second. This fact meant his hero career afforded him plenty of wealth and influence to start a few brands of his own.
His main venture he had was Chargebolt Charities, where he'd coordinate events and donate to different causes. He started a 18+ magazine, dubbed 'Midnight Magazine', after his fallen former sensei, where all profits went to those who were victims of sex crimes. He was the most popular model for the magazine, with his slim but toned figure, hair down to his lower back, and freckled tan skin. He had Chargebolt Electronics, where all his products were personally powered by him and wired to never run out. Hatsume and he had come up with the concept and thanks to them, nearly every hospital in Japan never ran out of power due to his Chargebolt Endless Generators.
Overall, his name was everywhere in Japan.
He heard that his fanbase spanned all the way across the Pacific to America, which made him seem giddy with joy. After all, Denki loved America! He loved their food, their entertainment, their fashion, their culture, their everything! He had been invited to America to speak on a variety of shows while on summer break, so he quickly put in a request to have the summer break off. He wanted to go to America, wanted to go to all the big cities and see all the sites. He wanted to taste all the food and meet all the people. His eyes sparkled like diamonds when his request was approved, making his emotions go haywire to the point where the teacher's lounge lost power.
He relayed the happy news to his family, who all seemed just as happy. Some may say Mic was envious, but if he was then nobody decided to press the loud blonde to tell. Denki stood in the airport, a single suitcase and backpack as his luggage. Aizawa, Mic, Shinso, Monoma, Eri, and Bakugo were all there to see him off.
"Be sure to eat plenty of protein, try some new things while you're there. I heard that Americans love deep frying things, so make sure to try some of their weird food for me," Shinso hugged him tightly.
"Don't encourage the idea of those nast,y greaseball, fast food places, Hitoshi. America has plenty more to offer than fried food!" Monoma lightly flicked his temple before turning to Denki, "I heard Americans love to smile, you should fit right in there! Make sure to take pictures for us! Oh, and if you happen to go to Broadway-"
"If I see anything theater related, I'll be sure to relay it to you, Neito," Denki smirked as he and Monoma shook hands. Eri was crying as she hugged him, clutching his hooded tank top. The now fifteen year old was still a child at heart and would miss her big brother.
"Promise you'll be back, right? America is dangerous, even more so than Japan. I don't want you-"
"Eri, I'll be ok. Look," he pulled on their matching apple charm bracelet, "I have your gift to protect me, it's been my good luck charm since I got it. Nobody can hurt me when I wear it," Denki winked. Eri pouted and crossed her arms.
"I know you can protect yourself, I still worry, Denki-nii!"
"You're as big as a mama hen as Papa and Dad!" Denki and Eri laughed, but Aizawa and Mic didn't look all too impressed.
"Make sure to get plenty of sleep! I know America has a buzzing nightlife, but you still need your rest! Call us if there is anything you need, it doesn't matter what time it is! And make sure to always stay on guard, even if you're on vacation, you're still a hero!" Mic kissed his temple and embraced him tightly. Aizawa looked at them with stern eyes, his hulking body stiff.
"He means it, Denki. I don't want to see your face on the news that you got hurt because some American villain decided to cause trouble," Aizawa gave a fond pat to Denki's head and kissed it. Denki chuckled and nodded before turning to Bakugo, who swooped him into a dip and kissed him passionately. Denki giggled into the kiss and many passersby gawked at the very public display of affection. It wasn't a secret that Dynamight and Chargebolt had been dating, so a few people took some quick pictures. They most likely would post them on social media with some sappy interpretation of what was going on. When Bakugo finally released Denki from his hold, he couldn't help the loving gaze he gave the shorter blonde.
"Come back safe, ok, lightning bug?" The two touched their foreheads together before an announcement came over the PA that his flight was boarding. With one last hug and a huge smile, he waved goodbye and ran out of sight.
The flight had been awesome, he sat next to a little boy who had a Dynamight shirt on, which prompted him to FaceTime Bakugo and make the kid's day. The mom was very grateful for the gesture and offered to pay Denki back, before realizing who he was. The plane ride was filled with selfies, storytelling, and jokes between Denki and most of the other passengers. When they landed, paparazzi swarmed him. Denki had to be escorted by security to his driver, which automatically brought him to his first TV appearance. The first week was just interview after interview, the second week had a few appearances and interviews sprinkled in, and the third week was just appearances. He was now in his final week, just finishing his final interview, when he was asked a very strange question.
"What was your homelife like, Chargebolt?" he paused, not quite understanding the question.
"I'm afraid I don't understand,"
"Well, your childhood more specifically. It is known that you came from wealth, but aside from that, not much is known about your childhood," Denki felt his heart pulse through his temples. Suddenly, the glow of the stage lights made him feel overheated and his head swam as he thought back to Orochi.
"Um, yes, I came from wealth. My stepfather owned a very big business, so I grew up with a lot of privilege,"
"Stepfather?"
"Yes, you see, I wasn't exactly planned. When I was born, I knew my parents loved me dearly. However, they themselves grew apart, and got divorced. Life got harder after my quirk manifested, since the electrical imbalance made my brain learn differently from others. I receive quirk induced ADHD as well as quirk induced epilepsy. My mom was a quirkless teacher at some small public school, so she couldn't afford to pay my medical bills plus our living expenses. We moved back to her childhood home and barely scraped by,"
"Oh, but, then where does your stepfather come in?"
"My mom wasn't just smart, she was also very beautiful. I apparently looked just like her, minus this stripe on my bang. My stepdad had met her by chance and instantly fell in love. He didn't care that she had this kid with medical bills to pay, he just knew he loved her and would grow to love her son. My stepfather was wealthy and helped with my medical expenses, and we were happy for a while. But, sadly, my mother would not live to see me turn six, she was killed by a villain. It would be a little bit over a decade before everything came crashing down on my stepfather, who committed suicide," the crowd gasped, "he left me a large fortune, which I've used to invest in my charities, company, and other small businesses. My life didn't have an all too normal or happy beginning, but I like that I don't. It shows that good people aren't always born from good places, sometimes, we're born from tragedy. Those are the good people you need, because we may not understand your situation, but most of the time we have the empathy to try,"
"You're amazing, Chargebolt. I apologize if this question got a little too personal. I didn't realize you had it hard growing up," Denki shrugged but still smiled, "that's, um, all we have for today. Join us next time!" The hostess had begun crying, which made Denki feel bad. He knelt by her side and patted her back, trying to make her feel better. When the cameras cut, she finally broke down, and Denki simply held her tightly.
After she finally got a grip, she thanked him for being so open and honest. She knew many kids who are in similar situations may look to him now as their beacon of hope. She wiped her last tear and welcomed one last hug before walking off. As he left the studio, he noticed a hero agency close by. He wandered over there to see which hero it belonged to, only for his soul to fold in on itself.
'Elecplant Agency'
Denki took a few shallow breaths before walking quickly back to his hotel room. After a short panic attack, he managed to get a grip on his emotions. His mind raced, he wanted so badly to meet his father. At the same time, Denki's mind screamed that it was irrational to do so. Denki was a mistake, an accident, the whole reason his mom and dad got divorced was because it wouldn't have been safe for him. He was the reason his mother couldn't pay her bills, the reason she had to move, and the reason Orochi came into his life. His self-deprecation got worse as his mind spiraled into dark thoughts.
That's when his phone rang. Denki looked at the contact and his eyes nearly bulged from his skull as he answered it.
"Katsuki! Why on Earth are you calling! It's like 3 AM there!"
"My toes are tinglings, which means you're thinking bad thoughts," Denki sighed. It was something weird they had between them, Bakugo's toes and Denki's belly button would tingle if the other was thinking bad thoughts. If you asked either of them why it happened, neither of them could tell you. It was just their thing that even the Bakusquad couldn't share. Mina once joked and said it was a sign that they were soulmates, but being in their first year and not understanding their own feelings made it seem like a load of crap.
"I guess I was, I passed Elecplant's Agency. I was beginning to spiral because I just kept thinking of how I wanted to meet him at least once, and then I remembered how I was the reason my mom and dad got divorced and the reason my mom had to move, and the reason Orochi-"
"Denki! Baby, calm down! Hey, let's do some box breathes together, ok?" Bakugo began to instruct Denki through the technique, effectively calming Denki down. Once everything finally stopped spinning and Denki felt better, Bakugo continued, "Denki, it wasn't your fault for any of that. You didn't ask to get a quirk that messed with your brain, you didn't ask for the medical cost to be expensive, and you didn't ask to be born. None of what happened to you was your fault,"
"Really?"
"Yes, really," Denki smiled and took a few more breaths, "now, let's get back to the root cause of this breakdown. You want to see your dad, right?" Denki made a noise of affirmation, "then do it. It's best to try and not succeed than to not try at all,"
"I guess, but what if he hates me? What if I'm just a reminder of a mistake he made in his youth and thinks I'm the most disgusting thing on the planet?"
"Then it's his loss, because you are none of those things. Denki, you are the funniest, kindest, sexiest person to walk this fucking Earth. If that man thinks you don't deserve his love, then fuck him! Because, back here in Japan, you got a real family willing to give you all the love you fucking need and want. Especially me, I'll love you until the day I die,"
"Oh, Mr. Romantic? What if I die first?"
"I'll never love anybody the same way I love you, Denki. No one else could give me these stupid warm feelings, or make me happy with just the sounds of your laugh," Denki could feel the smirk on his partner's face as Bakugo briefly paused, "or make me cum by just thinking of your-"
"OK!!!" Denki screeched, his face beet red, "GEEZ KATSUKI WAY TO RUIN THE MOMENT!!!" Bakugo laughed into the receiver, making Denki smile.
"But it worked, didn't it? I know you're smiling right now,"
"Shut up, you big meanie," Denki chuckled softly, "you're going to get it when I get back to Japan," Bakugo hummed and took a deep breath.
"I'm looking forward to it," Denki rolled his eyes and sighed.
"Get some sleep, Kat. I'll let you know if anything happens," Bakugo hums again.
"Love ya, lightning bug,"
"Love you too, sunshine," Denki hung up and steeled his nerves again. He changed into a white v-neck tee, black jeans, and black lace up boots. He clipped on his black choker with a lightning bolt charm and put his hair in a messy bun, trying to tame the static that he had produced while panicking. When he finally felt he looked decent enough, he made his way back out of the hotel and back to the agency. It was about to be noon and a small part of Denki's brain hoped that his father was out to lunch or something. When he walked up to the secretary, she gasped and stood up.
"Pro Hero Chargebolt!!!" she squealed, causing many heads to turn. Denki looked at the lobby of now ecstatic employees and watched the stampede of people swarm him, asking for photos or autographs. For people who worked for someone with an electric quirk, they all seemed rather awestruck by his abilities. The lobby had turned into a huge mess and Denki began to panic, he didn't want his father to assume he did this on purpose. He didn't want it to look like Denki wanted all this attention, cause he honestly didn't. That's when a commanding, yet calming, aura settled over the crowd.
"What in the name of Toledo is going on here?!" The crowd and Denki all turned their heads to see a familiar black suit with white lightning stripes and a red cape, "everybody, please go back to your stations! This is no time for dilly dallying!" The crowd all booed with disappointment, dispersing back to their stations.
Denki noticed how Elecplant had yet to take notice of him as he made his way to the elevator. Denki didn't even think, he just ran after him, hopping into the elevator alongside him. Elecplant didn't seem to acknowledge his existence for a while, the pressure built up and it felt like Denki couldn't breath. The elevator door opened and he watched as Elecplant walked away into the lobby of his top floor office. Denki clutched a fist to his chest, gulping down doubt as he finally found his voice.
"Dad," he spoke kindly, almost as if he was afraid to cause a scene for the older man. Elecplant stopped in his tracks and turned around, finally noticing Denki. They stared at each other for thirty seconds, Denki looking at him with wide eyes. Elecplant was about to speak, but the elevator doors closed, cutting him off. He moved on instinct, shocking the elevator and causing it to open again. He stormed to the elevator and pulled Denki by the arm, dragging him into his office. The secretary and sidekicks didn't seem to want to look, all of them busying themselves with tasks as Elecplant shut the door and locked it. Denki was behind him, fidgeting with his hands as his dad kept his place facing the door.
There was a minute of absolute silence, tension thick and heavy seemed to put weight on both electric users. There was something stopping the atmosphere from becoming lighter, but neither could figure out what. After another few minutes of silence, Elecplant finally spoke up.
"Is that really you, Denki?" he whispered, still facing the door, as if he was scared to turn around. But, to Denki, that was impossible.
"I know you probably don't want to see me, that I'm just a reminder of your stupid mistakes as a young adult. But, I was in the country, and decided it would be rude if I didn't at least try to see you. The least I could do is apologize, since I messed up everything between you and mom, and I-"
Elecplant turned around and stormed up to him, making Denki flinch. He was expecting to get hit or pushed, but the violence never came. Denki just looked up to the taller figure, who towered over him. Elecplant was only still for a few moments before he hugged Denki closely, trembling as he fell to his knees. Denki followed, embracing his dad just as tightly. The two held each other for a few minutes before the sound of Denki's sniffling brought them back.
Elecplant shoved the full face covering back, allowing Denki to talk full stock of what his dad looked like. Giving his salt and pepper hair, it was obvious why the bolt on his bang was black. He had these deep blue eyes that were gazing at Denki's face with sheer joy. He had facial hair, styled in a friendly mutton chops fashion. His jaw and his body were chiseled as stone and his features were tough and robust. But, his cheeks were rosy and his eyes were soft, emotions overwhelmed his exceedingly manly features. Tears poured from his eyes and his messy hair frayed with sparks, even down his facial hair. He cupped Denki's cheeks, kissing his nose and laughing with his hearty tone.
"Denki! My son! My baby boy! Oh my God! Finally! I finally get to meet my baby boy!" he began crying as he hugged Denki once more, burying his face into Denki's neck and carding his fingers up his scalp, "I never thought I'd get to see you! My lord! You've gotten so big! I mean, of course you have, it's been twenty or so years!" Denki chuckled at his father's awkwardness. No doubt that was something they shared. Denki smiled as tears began to gather in the corners of his eyes, but Ereku quickly wiped them away.
"You mean, you actually missed me? Even after everything I did to you and mom?"
"Everything you did?! Denki, you didn't do anything! Your mother and I simply wished for different things and went our separate ways!"
"Then, why didn't you try to speak to us? Why didn't you ever send us anything?"
"Part of the agreement in our divorce was no contact, it was meant for both of us to have a clean slate and start over. Denki, if I could have, I would have sent you and your mom birthday gifts, postcards, anything your little heart desired! But, back then, your mother wished to avoid scandal, and so did I. If it got out that I had a child and an ex-wife, you two would have been eaten by the press! So, we opted to make our divorce quiet and go no contact in its wake," Ereku began to cry, "I regretted it so much! Not even a year later, I went back to England to try to win back your mother and get my life back. But, you two had moved, and I could never find you again! I was heartbroken, Denki, I never ever want to lose you again!"
Denki wiped a few more tears from his eyes and sniffed, taking in everything he was just told. His dad, his real dad, loved him and his mother so much. Denki gave a watery smile and hugged the older man tightly, nuzzling his cheek into his chest. Hearing his father's heartbeat thrum against his ear was relaxing, it was as if he was a kid again.
"I was always so scared that you'd hate me, that I'd remind you of your mistakes as a young hero. But, hearing you say this, it makes me so happy. I've wanted this for so long, dad, I've wanted this so badly!" Denki sobbed into his chest. Ereku cried harder as well, but just continued to hold him closer.
"Never again, Denki, you'll never lose me again,"
The two stayed that way for close to an hour, a sidekick or secretary checking on them once in a while. But once there were no more tears left, they settled on the couch for some tea and cookies. They talked for a while, Ereku learning all about Denki's hero journey, his family life, his partner, basically everything and anything he could. When it was time for Ereku to go home, Denki just expected to be given his number. So he was quick to write down his own on a napkin and hand it to him.
"I'm in America for the next three days before I go back to Japan, we should hang out more!"
"Hold on there, scout!" Denki chuckled, Ereku was already pulling out dad nicknames for him, "you're coming over for dinner! My wife and kids will want to meet their newest family member!" Denki looked a little scared before Ereku continued, "don't give me that look! You're my son, and I'm sure all of them will love you!" Denki was still hesitant, but nodded anyway. It made his dad beam with happiness as he dragged Denki to his car, got him buckled, and basically bounced off walls as he drove off. Denki noticed his dad had a lot of ticks like him, he fidgeted or twitched, probably because he was so excited.
As he pulled up to the suburban house, he felt his heart melt when he saw a ten year old girl and fifteen year old boy playing in the front yard with a huge black mutt. A pair of twenty year old twins were on the porch, the girl looking at a laptop and the boy writing stuff down. They all looked more like Ereku, except they all had white streaks in their hair and green eyes instead of blue. Ereku parked the car and quickly got out, Denki was quick to follow. The ten year old looked up and ran towards them, arms open.
"Dad! You're home!" she screamed as Ereku picked her up and twirled her around. All the kids looked at the sight with smiles. Denki felt like he was interrupting something personal, like he was a spare puzzle piece that just didn't fit. He began to fidget nervously as he noticed how the teen boy looked at him, his eyes wide.
"Oh my God! Chargebolt?! Dad, you brought home Chargebolt?!" the teen ran right up to him and basically wiggled in excitement, "I'm a huge fan! We have similar quirks! But, because of my mom, my electricity is immune to plant based quirks!" Denki blinked a few times before laughing.
"Man, you're lucky! My first year sports festival is proof enough that my electricity isn't plant proof, I wish it was though!" he giggled as he remembered how quickly he fell against Shiozake. The two older twins made their way over, looking him up and down before smiling.
"Perfect timing! We needed to do a report on a hero we admire! We were going to use dad, but we admire you more! Probably because you're closer to our age!" the girl squealed while her male twin simply nodded.
"Kids, dinner!" A woman with white box braids, almond brown skin, and green eyes walked out, looking at the scene before her and gasped, "Ereku, I didn't know we were having a guest! I'm going to have to set an extra place on the table!"
"I'll help, it is my place after all, excuse me guys," Denki winked as he ran up the porch steps, giving a curt nod, "I'm Denki Kaminari, ma'am,"
"None of that, you just call me Venus!" Her Louisiana accent was very prominent in her voice, which made Denki feel all warm. He could smell the spicy tang of gumbo in the air, as well as freshly baked bread and fluffed up rice. He helped set his place and offered to help serve, but Venus quickly made him sit as she served him a heaping helping of food alongside her childrens and husband.
Halfway through the meal, Denki thought it was strange that he only knew the names of his father and new mother, half mother? He really didn't know what to call her.
"I didn't catch any of your names," he looked at the kids. The twins smiled, while the teenage boy and young girl squealed.
"I'm Arlo!" the youngest said happily, "that's my older brother, Dean," she gestured to the teen, who playfully shrugged her. The elder girl chuckled and looked at Denki.
"I'm Seraphina," she nudged her twin who hadn't spoken a single word yet. Denki thought he reminded him of an even more timid version of Tamaki, "go on," she encouraged. He gulped and took a deep breath.
"M-My name i-is N-Noah," Denki smiled and nodded.
"Noah doesn't like talking since his quirk makes him have seizures," Arlo explained, getting hushed by Dean and Seraphina and Noah sinking down.
"I have them sometimes too," Denki explained, silencing the whole table, "my brain did respond well to my quirk manifesting, so now I have quirk induced ADHD and epilepsy. It's not easy and sometimes I forget to take my meds, but I don't have many seizures anymore. Maybe one or two every year. I could recommend some neurologists if you'd like, mine retired a few years back, but I'm sure he'd be willing to do one last job,"
"Bless your soul!" Venus gushed as she began to get teary, "you don't have to," Denki looked to his dad and smiled.
"That's what family is for," he winked. Everyone looked at Ereku, who chuckled nervously and scratched the back of his head, "wrong time to drop the bomb, I presume," Denki suspected nervously. Ereku shook his head and sighed.
"I guess I should start explaining everything," and that's exactly what he did. The next thirty minutes was spent telling his family about his previous marriage and child, how the divorce went down, and how he attempted to get his life back only to find out they had moved. By the time he was done telling the table everything, Seraphina was crying and Venus seemed a little angry. The mother obviously was upset about something, but Denki couldn't place what. He hoped it wasn't the fact that he was a bastard child who had just come out of left field. Speaking of who, Venus stood up and made her way over to Ereku. Denki and the rest of his siblings watched as she whacked the back of Ereku's head.
"I would have used my connections to find him! You basically abandoned the poor child! He got your quirk, for Heaven's sake! We could have helped him!" Venus went over to him and gently wiped his face of some spare food. Denki nearly cried when she did, he missed having a mom, "you sweet thing, why are you crying?" Denki sniffed and smiled.
"I just missed having a mom. Don't get me wrong, my family is amazing! But, there's just something about a mom that makes me feel young again, before everything that happened," Denki instantly shut his mouth. Venus and Ereku looked at him suspiciously, as did his siblings.
"Why, what do you mean?" Dean questioned, his happy demeanor steeling into one of perplexity and wrath. Denki didn't want to hide what had happened, especially to his extremely caring family. So, he spilled everything that had happened to him. His mother dying, his stepfather's decade of abuse, the wars in his first year, he trauma dumped anything he could on his family.
By the end of it all, Venus was just embracing him. Seraphina and Arlo both tried to calm him down, while Noah was using his vine quirk to hold back Dean and Ereku from catching any charges. Dean was quirkless and Ereku's electricity did nothing to the plant, so it was safe to say that Noah was doing a good job keeping them detained.
"Noah! Let us out!" Dean screamed as he scratched at the vines.
"Y-you're g-going to g-get hurt! St-stay b-back and d-don't do anyth-thing harsh!" Noah spoke with a firm tone, getting a groan from Ereku and Dean. Suddenly, the door was kicked in and everybody froze.
"Where the fuck is my boyfriend?!" Bakugo stormed in: a frantic Eri, worried Mic, exhausted Aizawa, amused Monoma, and irked Shinso close behind. Bakugo locked eyes on Denki, who was looking at him with misty eyes and tear-stroke cheeks.
"Katsuki, what on Earth are you-" Bakugo stomped over and embraced him, kissing him gently. Eri launched herself into Denki's arms, latching onto his waist and nuzzling his abdomen.
"Denki-nii! Katsu-nii said he knew you were upset! So, we flew all the way here! Who made you cry?! I'll rewind them into dust!" Denki sniffled and chuckled, unlatching herself from around him and smiling.
"I'm fine, Eri. It's just been an emotional day, however," Denki's eyes moved towards his other family members, who each had gone stiff, "why are you all here?!"
"Wherever Eri goes, we go," Aizawa gestured to him and Mic.
"I wasn't about to let Bakugo go something reckless," Shinso explained before Monoma rolled his eyes.
"No, that's what I was doing. Since you didn't want Bakugo to do something reckless in Denki's honor by himself," Monoma sighed and came over, giving Venus a bow, "I apologize for that explosive oaf, he has a habit of rushing into danger when regarding his beloved," Denki chuckled.
"'Explosive oaf' is a good one, I've gotta write that one down," Bakugo grunted and crossed his arms, blush coating his face, "guys, I'm ok. I just trauma dumped a bit, which by the way, I'm so sorry for," he looked to his family, who all looked offended at his apology.
"What?! No, don't apologize! I'd cry too if all that shit happened to me!" Seraphina quipped. Bakugo noticed that he had probably distubred something private and sighed.
"I'll do the dishes to make up for causing trouble, you can all relax. Especially you, lightning bug," Bakugo kissed Denki's lips gently before walking to the kitchen, Venus didn't even have a chance to stop him.
So, they all gathered in the living room. Once Bakugo was back, everybody was properly introduced and conversations filled the area. Denki was sitting on the loveseat with Bakugo, who was snuggling him. Denki looked at how Eri, Arlo, and Dean got along swimmingly as they played some card game. Monoma and Noah were talking about something theater-related while Seraphina was taking notes on something Shinso was talking about. Mic and Venus were exchanging recipes while Ereku and Aizawa were probably talking about hero work. Bakugo was still gently carding his fingers through his long locks, humming something as he checked his phone.
"I'm so lucky," he whispered softly.
"Nah, we're the ones who are lucky, Denki. If not for you, none of us would know what it means to be a family," Bakugo explained, kissing Denki's head. Denki hummed in acknowledgment as his eyes fluttered closed to the sound of his family talking and Bakugo's heartbeat.
