The Fairy Queen

Something was coming. It was tiny, I could barely see it. It glowed as it got closer. Eventually I could make out what it was. My breath caught and I dropped my book. It was the Fairy Queen and her guards!

They were riding on tiny alicorns, no bigger than a single Lilac blossom. They were galloping and yet floating like dandelion seeds. I turned my head as they went by.

My eyes met the Queen's and we nodded, coming to a mutual understanding. She waved her hand and one of her guards dug through his pack. When he found what he was looking for, the object dwarfed him and he handed it to me.

The sword was beautiful, a work of art. It had a fine hilt with gemstones, and a wicked edge. It was inscribed with the fairy words for 'book loving friend'.

"It has been wielded by many," said the Queen, "Though none quite like you."

I curtsied and thanked her.

Then they were gone and my book hit the ground with a thud. I picked it up and went home. There I found a place for the sword. It makes a wonderful pushpin.
